Hughes, Hammond, Maybury put up for sale

Exactly. I wonder if they will be the only 3?

I doubt it but it looks like for every couple of players that come in a couple will go.....prob the only sensible way to do the poen herat surgrey

So add these 3 to the other 5 and you have 8 players shipped out.

We're set to sign 8 players, one of them a keeper of which we now have 3. Does this mean loan"stars" Newton and Jarrett will be offered permanent contracts?

Still a wafer thin squad.

Maybury was bollox after his first attempted move to Sunderland broke down, but it doesn't mean he is a bad player. Hughes has ability also, I am disappointed it didn't work out for them but they'll move on go to decent Clubs and have a good career.

As for Elvis Hammond he is a waster and any attempt by anyone to justify him as a professional footballer is frankly insulting. I hope the tosser never gets another contract anywhere.

It makes no difference why Maybury became a liability - cos he felt misused, disgruntled, demotivated or because he was having a sulk. The fact was, just like Fryatt, his contribution for the season was negligible.

Both will move into relative obscurity in all likelihood because, whatever the rights and wrongs of their experiences at Leicester they both have to take themselves with them.

As for your last sentence, it betrays a bitterness I fail to understand and one which doubtless wouldn't apply if Elvis were Scottish.

We shouldn't crack open the bubbly just yet, at least until the three of them are finally off the City payroll.

As we've seen with Douglas and MDV, it's not easy to shift crap players on lucrative long-term contracts.

But today's events prove two things.

1) Allen is amazingly clued-up about the deadwood in our squad.

2) Levein (who signed all of the departing trio) was so far out of his depth in English football it was untrue. The fact that he survives with ease in the SPL speaks volumes about the lack of quality north of the border.

Too right.

I think the lynch mob have spilt a little too much vitriol on their keyboards today.

I agree that Hammond is out of his depth and Allen is right to get rid.

But there have been worse players wearing City shirts in recent years.

Remember John Curtis? Or Lee Morris?

Both of those were frustrating but had far more ability than Hammond.

If we're talking solely in terms of being out of their depth, Hammond is one of the worst ever, in my opinion.

To suggest Lee Morris was out of his depth is completely wrong, I think.

Yup. He only started 2 friggin games.

Hammond has started 31 too many.

Weird example. Lee Morris is/was a decent player (and here come the magic words) when fit.

John Curtis is/was an absolute fartbucket though, agreed.

Hammond at least has had a few quality games for us.

Admittedly, they could be counted on the fingers of one hand (although Thracian may attempt to prove otherwise).

But they're more than Morris ever managed, even if he won a little kudos with his goal against Forest the other week!

Is it possible to have these added to the smilie list for use in future occurrences of Fryatt-based deviation?

Hardly surprising given that he could only start 2 games due to a plethora of injuries.

Yeah. If you'd hacked off all your fingers with a small, rusty hacksaw.

I told everyone this at 9.15am http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=38278

After all the "whats your source" etc. Did I also tell you all Nielsen had signed and got all the same............. will keep it to myself fed up of all the grief !!!

Watch this space. MA has said 50% will probably go from current squad. Unless we receive any ridiculous offers the following are safe:-

Hume, Fryatt, Porter, Weslowski, Stearman.

Sounds as if my prediction of two, perhaps three ex-Academy players being involved might be right then...but even then I believe it will be doubly hard for them to get selected because Allen will want his own signings in first.

All three need to play above anything they've managed so far to stay involved beyond Chritstmas.

Hume's the same really because despite his success last season he's still short of the goals tally needed for a genuine striker.

Only Fryatt is really safe..so safe the club could rent him out as an advert for Durex.

lol

Elvis Hammond is f'ckn rubbish, he could be my brother and he'd still be dog filth as a footballer. How anyone who claims to understand the game can even try and make a case for him is beyond me. He does not possess one single basic skill.

Another product of the Tim Davies/Rob Kelly cluster****.

I knew Maybury and Hughes would be off. They have been utter garbage this year. Elvis has actually been okay in patches and I hope he gets a contract with a side in League One where he can look like a decent player. He's just become one of these players it's fashionable to slag off. Fryatt has offered practically nothing all season and I wouldn't be bothered in the slightest if he was off as well.

in six pages of nonsense, this is the finest, most clear-headed assessment in the thread... it seems everyone is so busy defending/criticising fryatt and hammond, they fail to realise that we do not have ANY really great strikers at the club, and we haven't had since, christ, cottee??

and those of you sad to lose maybury and hughes - come on - compared to the low budget squads of o'neill and little, they are fodder, like most of the squad

i hope hammind goes, just so the now tedious personal digs stop - tho if they're transfered to porter, i think that's even worse - not the finished article, for sure, but christ when did we last have a winger who could dribble AND cross... the reason thracian et al rate the young players (i imagine) is cause they play proper football and COULD DEVELOP into special players...

hughes, hammond, maybury - the cleansing has begun!

My 8 year old niece is amazingly clued-up about the deadwood in our squad. It proves nothing.

I don't think this shows Martin Allen is incredibly "clued up" about the dead wood in our squad at all. The three of them probabley needed to go but De Vries, Douglas ( although he might be taking up a coaching role apparently, still 8k a week for a coach is insane ) are both on sizeable loads and haven't been transfere listed  they should of been the first two put up for sale. I'm actually geniunly worried he has plans to play De Vries.

elvis hammond is a bar steward

at 5 grand week he should be taken to court for negligence in the work place

he is in the all time list of disgraces to put on a city shirt

Is MDV still on the transfer list from last time? They can hardly re-iterate it if clubs are already aware he is available.

I dunno, don't ever remember him being "Transfere listed" not involved with the squad prehaps.

Seeing as we have a new manager he could do with re-iterating it.

Then your niece would have been 1 the last time we had a decent manager.

Allen has made a positive statement on his first day in charge about the way forward for this club.

We should applaud him for it.

Even Rob Kelly wanted to sell Douglas and MDV.

But that means nothing if they have contracts and no club is dumb enough to pay them as much as we do.

Those on this forum (you know who you are) who hailed Levein as a messiah when he arrived should be made to eat their words (among other things) a dozen times a day - at least until the last of the overpaid useless tat he landed us with has finally been shown the door.
