Brainy Posted 5 October 2007 Posted 5 October 2007 http://www.planet-f1.com:80/story/0,18954,...2781366,00.html`Alonso has told Spanish press that McLaren are sabotaging his car` Friday 5th October 2007 Fernando Alonso has allegedly briefed Spanish reporters that McLaren are deliberately sabotaging his car. While it is public knowledge that Alonso feels aggrieved at the team's refusal to install him as their number one driver, the Spaniard hasn't gone so far as to claim that team-mate and World Championship leader Lewis Hamilton has received preferential treatment. However, in a deeply unpleasant exchange during Friday's press conference, Alonso pointedly refused to denounce the allegation. Asked specifically whether 'you think you have been treated in a fair way by the team or could maybe the team favour Lewis by making subtle changes to your car, like tyre pressures or wing settings?', Alonso merely replied: "Difficult question... I will not answer." According to Times correspondent Edward Gorman, present at the press conference, Alonso 'paused for emphasis' and 'gave the clear impression that he believes the team are doctoring his race car to ensure that Hamilton wins the title.' 'No one who heard him could be in any doubt what his intended meaning was and indeed Spanish journalists close to Alonso said he has been saying as much privately for some time.' I've lost all respect for this guy. I can't believe how cocky Alonso has been everytime he comes under pressure. As he's treated the team like shit all year, I hope they do sabotage his car this weekend.
isaidno Posted 5 October 2007 Posted 5 October 2007 Alonso is a tit , wasn't he paying his mechanics to make his car faster than Hamiltons
Floating Fox Posted 5 October 2007 Posted 5 October 2007 Got to agree, lost all respect for Alonso now, although that story is most likely bollocks. Lewis has handled the pressure marvellously, which I didnt think he would do. Top marks, there's no way he's going to loose this
Wycombe Fox Posted 5 October 2007 Posted 5 October 2007 http://www.planet-f1.com/story/0,18954,3213_2781482,00.html Alonso`s pointed silence `disappoints` DennisFriday 5th October 2007 Ron Dennis has understandably expressed his "disappointment" at Fernando Alonso's pointed refusal to deny that McLaren have doctored his car. Pressed to comment on the allegations during a press conference on Thursday, the World Champion simply replied: "Difficult question...I will not answer." Reports have since been published claiming that Alonso 'has been saying as much privately for some time.' Having repeatedly reiterated that McLaren would not and have not favoured either Alonso or team-mate Lewis Hamilton, the Spaniard's failure to publicly defend the team's integrity has predictably irked Dennis. "This is a straight fight and I'm obviously disappointed that someone who really has all the knowledge should not be more direct and open with the response," the McLaren boss told a press briefing. "There are numerous equality clauses in our contracts, they are reciprocal. We never have, never will and certainly are not favouring either driver at the moment. I like that last sentence - "at the moment"
Charnwood Norris Posted 5 October 2007 Posted 5 October 2007 Alonso need to out score Hamilton by at least 2 points to keep the title fight going. If Ferrari finish 1-2 with Alonso 3rd & Hamilton 4th, lewis takes the titlleLewis Hamilton McLaren-Mercedes 107 Fernando Alonso McLaren-Mercedes 95 Kimi Raikkonen Ferrari 90 Felipe Massa Ferrari 80 Hmmm... so that means Alonso can't afford to damage his car by bullying Hamilton, potentially putting him out of the Championship title, so no Schumacher V Hill knocking-off-track antics (god was that really 13 years ago) come Sunday.
Brainy Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 May aswell criticise him at every chance I get. Twat. Oct.6 (GMM) Fernando Alonso has openly questioned the stewards' decision not to penalise his teammate Lewis Hamilton for driving erratically behind the safety car last Sunday. The 22-year-old's bitter title challenger told the Spanish newspaper Diario As on Friday: "I am sure that if it was me (under investigation), I would have gone to sleep with a penalty." The Spaniard is probably recalling his famous Monza penalty last year, applied after stewards ruled that he impeded Felipe Massa's qualifying lap. Alonso said of the Hamilton investigation: "But I do not know, because I did not see it (the YouTube clip of the Vettel-Webber crash)." Reigning world champion Alonso, who is 12 points behind Hamilton after his Fuji Speedway crash, said Hamilton had been warned by race director Charlie Whiting about his driving behind the safety car at Monza last month, after "some drivers complained". "The race director reminded us before Fuji what you can do -- warm up your tyres, zig-zag, but with a constant speed. "He said 'you can move, but not change your speed all the time'." As for Hamilton, this kid's a genius.
Wycombe Fox Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Button did extremely well too as did DC! I reckon he's fuelled expecting rain - outside tip for a podium maybe. Go Lewis!!!! Early morning tomorrow - can't wait. Hamilton/Button McLaren dream team next season? Get that tail between your legs Alonso and get back to your mate (and manager?) Flavio Briatore. You never know, if it doesn't work out next season you might get on the bench for QPR! That really would be the 'pits'!
Brainy Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Renault Alonso v McLaren Hamilton next year :w00t: I'd love to see Button at McLaren but he's already agreed to stay at Honda next year, plus Rosberg, I think, will be higher up on the list to replace Alonso. Hamilton Button Coulthard all on the podium - Has anything like that happened before? I said this on Friday to a mate - whoever is on pole (now Hamilton) will NOT be leading the race when they exit the twisty part of the track.
BigGibbo Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 Oh dear Hamiltons blown it anyone else watching the chineses grand prix
Monk Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 Bloody hell why didnt Mclaren bring Hamilton in earlier??? You could see his tyres we screwed about 5 laps before!
BigGibbo Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 Bloody hell why didnt Mclaren bring Hamilton in earlier??? You could see his tyres we screwed about 5 laps before! Maybe Alonso sabotaged him god knows but it was stupid & Hamilton can't be blamed with it being his rookie season
Brainy Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 god knows but it was stupid & Hamilton can't be blamed with it being his rookie season He can really.. people should hurry up and decide whether he's a great driver or a rookie, because the commentators keep rotating between them. Hamiltons fault but it wasn't easy with the grip he had. Vettel with a Mark Webber fan
isaidno Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 Gutted for Lewis, a podium in Brazil should be enougth though
Milky Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 Gutted for Lewis, a podium in Brazil should be enougth though If Alonso wins it though, Hamilton must come second. It's a tight one.
purpleronnie Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 This is perfect, gets in a winning position and then blows it...its the english way...
Milky Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 This is perfect, gets in a winning position and then blows it...its the english way... If i ever get as jealous and as bitter as you, shoot me.
Brainy Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 This is perfect, gets in a winning position and then blows it...its the english way... Why don't you just stick to sports you understand.
Milky Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 Why don't you just stick to sports you understand. He doesn't understand any of the sports.
Asha Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 Looks like it goes down to final day then. Gives me a reason to watch it at least. Whoever wins deserves to, but i think Raikkonen could definately sneak it if the McLarens take each other out. Could see that happening. Hamilton was unlucky though, but benefits the sport as there will now be more viewers.
Brainy Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 if the McLarens take each other out. Could see that happening. There really is no point though. If its blatantly intentional, you'll get a points deduction after the race - if its just being aggressive then the chances are if you succeed in taking him out, you're most likely to follow. If Hamilton doesn't win I feel Raikkonen will, and I hope he does too. Anything to stop the twat Alonso winning.

Hamilton would deserve to win, as would Raikkonen for sticking in it and not giving up half way. Come Sunday i will be supporting Ferrari/Raikkonen as always but tbh wouldn't be too bothered if Hamilton won. Saying that i'll probably cry over it but it'll pass. Too many times i've wanted the bad guys to win and i think we are lacking a proper British sporting hero at the moment, something whether this season or next but definately at some point, Lewis will be.
purpleronnie Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 If i ever get as jealous and as bitter as you, shoot me. I'm jealous sure I would love to be paid millions to race cars that has nothing to do with anything I hope he wins it but it would be funny if he blew it we do tend to do that well.
