skidster Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 Anybody else think our new signings are a waste of time and no better than last seasons rubbish ????
skidster Posted 4 July 2007 Author Posted 4 July 2007 i was expecting a bit more quality than whats been brought in
STUHILL Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 Anybody else think our new signings are a waste of time and no better than last seasons rubbish ???? simply answer....NO. Think of the players we had last season, they were shocking! Although these signings havn't been 'overly exciting', I still think we will have a real chance of pushing for a top six finish, as long as we add another 4-5 which is what Allen has hinted at. We do need a very good creative midfielder still to arrive though....
Bryn Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 i was expecting a bit more quality than whats been brought in Nah. I think they're solid signings. Blowing £2mil on a Jarvis or an Eastwood or a Sharp wouldn't have helped us much ebcause the team as a whole needed strengthening.
Ajax Treesdown Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 i was expecting a bit more quality than whats been brought in You're a right cheeky little scamp, aren't you??
Pete_foxes Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 disagree, Cort will be good provided he does not get an injury, Chambers solid player/does a job, Hayes is highly rated by MK dons & Reading fans, Sappleton, Hellings we have no clue how they will turn out, however Sappleton comes with high regards from QPR who say he just has an attitude problem but is a good player, Kishishev brings experience, n'gotty lacks pace but still a solid enough player at this level. Jimmy comes here with Aab fans saying hes a great keeper & an amazing shot stopoer. We do still need 4/5 more players to fill in the gaps. Another centre back, Centre mid is what we need atleast, both high profile.

I think what will count is the determination these players have on the pitch and the tactics that MA uses. I remember watching Hughes strolling around the pitch with little part in the game I doubt we will get this from Kishishev(?). N'Gotty is class, Cort will be excellent provided he does not get injured. Casino Jimmy cant be any worse than Rab/Logan. So I am not too sure why you started a thread to moan???

escape2victory Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 Anybody else think our new signings are a waste of time and no better than last seasons rubbish ???? Cort and Job or Hammond and O'Grady ? Pubeless muppet
Babylon Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 Nobody knows whether they are better until they play... the same would go for Eastwood had we paid £2m for him.
Bluefoxtim Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 I was much more excited in the season when we were buying Ferdinand, Howey, Nalis, Freund etc None of these signings have really impressed me, I don't really see why we haven't spent any money. First time in ages that we can actually pay some pretty hefty fees, and we aren't taking advantage of it. Obviously a long way to go still, but every signing we complete, the less the chance of some big signings

I'm sure there will be more to come and hopefully that will include a goalscorer and creative midfielder plus another winger maybe. I think the last few signings could be the most important and also turn out to be the best....
Geo V Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 I had hoped for a miracle and that we would be paying a seven figure sum or two on certain players so in that sense I ama little dissapointed but you only have to look at the players that we have bought in to know that the squad has improved significantly. N`Gotty was offered a new deal by Brum and they were promoted to the Premier, Nielsen was linked to bigger clubs than us but we managed to get him here, Chambers turned down an improved contract from Watford despite being reegated out of the premiership and quite a few other clubs wanted him, Cort turned down other championship clubs and a premier league club to come to us, Hellings has been transferred for £1.5m already in his career and is just 22, Sappleton had trials at Liverpool and Middlesboro but was persuaded to come to us, Kishishev was Leeds bets player last season and is held in high regard and still a current imternational and the lad today is an 18yo who has already impressed in the lower leagues. Big names, maybe not but a big name doesnt guarantee big success. Lets see who else we add to the squad as we are still meant to be getting 4 or 5 more players.

It just doesen't work that way. We are not an attractive club to Sharp, Eastwood, Javis, Varney etc.. hence they went/going to clubs who were in the playoffs last time out. We have to earn the right to sign players of that calibure.

So I am not too sure why you started a thread to moan??? well its wasn't really to have a moan ! i think most Leicester fans might have expected a few more household names to have come to the squad? some of the players are an unknown quantity and my might turn out to be great for us but i think there are better players out there that we could have got probably on less money

If not how do you know we are in a position to go and spend big money on players?

Babylon Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 exactly !!!Derby ???? So Derby did it which means we have to do it also... what happened at Derby doesn't happen very often mate. Watch a bit more football and you'll realise that.
Daggers Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 Anyone else think that the club should have got in a load of diamond-encrusted Battenburg? Mandaric seems content to buy and eat imitation cream buns - which all means that there will be less room on the plate for fresh cream donuts.
