Manwell Pablo Posted 22 July 2007 Posted 22 July 2007 I know nothing about the guy but on the right hand side of the linked page there's apoll about whether they should sell him and 57% voted yes which i think might be a bad sign By the looks of this thread only about 40% have herd of him so not necessarley.
dandannieldanok Posted 22 July 2007 Posted 22 July 2007 This may sound strange but I would be quite disappointed if we got him for just £250,000, that would show he can't be rated that highly by his current team, who I don't believe are in financial diffculties and wouldn't have to sell. That's my opinion anyway.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 22 July 2007 Posted 22 July 2007 I don't think I'll ever be happy about anything at LCFC, I wish I could be I was a bit like that when MON was here, always wanting us to sign a 20-goal striker or a quick centre-back or something. When we're struggling to stay in League One in five years time you'll be kicking yourself.
Ric Flair Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 If we can't get Theo Janssen then Robinson would be ideal. He's more than good enough for our level, he needs a new challenge. Don't worry about his poor form last season.
Thracian Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 He's not a player I know much about but his profile suggests he's a Made for Martin type of player and he does seem to score an acceptable proportion of goals to games. If he's better than Porter he'd be a welcome addition although, unlike Ric, I would worry about his the referred-to dip in form last season. Prolonged dips in form are always worrying.
brookfox Posted 23 July 2007 Author Posted 23 July 2007 NOTW? News of the World, assuming that's the question you were asking...!

Prolonged dips in form are always worrying. Obviously poor form is always a concern, but you have to take other things in to the equation. He's not exactly past it, so his poor form won't be down to his legs going. He was possibly the best player in the league in 2005/06 he scored about 17 goals and got numerous assists, he must have been responsible for 20-25 goals from midfield that season. He's worth a punt, his poor form might lead to a knockdown price. There was lots of decent clubs sniffing round him last summer and Swansea knocked them back, that can have an effect on players as well. I'm not writing Porter off either, but we need strength and depth down the left hand side.
Manwell Pablo Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 £250,000 is tuppance as well if it doesn't come off.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 News of the World, assuming that's the question you were asking...! Yeah I guessed that, just can't see a link or anything? Sure there is one but it's Monday morning. I'm not functioning properly.

Unless he turned out to be shit of course. Anyway the biggest steal was us getting 650k for Paddy.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 With Hayes seemingly failing to impress anyone on Saturday and Porter being left out of the squad for the trip to Scotland, this is looking more and more like a real possibility. Fingers crossed.

Daggers Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 With Hayes seemingly failing to impress anyone on Saturday ...but he did the weekend before didn't he. He just seemed to be thinking too much against County. Dangerous thing that is, you never know where you'll end up by thinking too much. In Hayes' case it was mainly on his arse.

As someone mentioned, there needs to be competition. But I wouldn't read anything into the Hayes/Porter situation at this stage. Hayes had a bad game - people do. He had a good game at Hinckley in the main. Porter's a good player and while I don't know the reason for his omission from the Scotland trip, he easily merits a place in our squad whether MA likes him or not.

He's not going to get in the squad if Allen doesn't like him though, is he?
Manwell Pablo Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 He's not going to get in the squad if Allen doesn't like him though, is he? Minor detail Fez, He has mad skillz and can drink his own body weight in Kronenberg, he deserves his place.
brookfox Posted 24 July 2007 Author Posted 24 July 2007 can drink his own body weight in Kronenberg Not disrespecting wee Levi's accomplishment, but that's probably only half a pint!!
