DB11 Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 The current season ticket booklet is starting to get a bit outdated, do you think that LCFC should update to the card system? Where you swipe your card etc. An image is at the Blackburn site: http://www.rovers.premiumtv.co.uk/page/New...1075943,00.html I'd welcome the change to cards. What are your thoughts?

I remember when they trialled this years back (credit card system). The cheapo system was crap. I was lucky but one of mates spent so many times having to queue at the ticket office to get a ticket because his card would not work. Oh and the same friend was bored in a Q for tickets (must have been play off final) he dropped it after being in line for a few hours and it shattered into many pieces - lucky they still accepted it. Personally a lcfc tattoo right on the forehead would be the best season ticket
samingram_uk Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 Good idea, seen a few clubs are doing it now. I would like it.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 Good idea, seen a few clubs are doing it now. I would like it. There were a few problems with the swipecards, but mine worked fine and I thought it was really good. I was surprised when they didn't put them in the Walkers, but by the time it was about finished they'd probably realised that they'd just about run out of cash and it seemed like a needless expense. Is it that much quicker than having someone tear your ticket in half? It's a bit of a luxury

We've been there and done that, one of the first, it was too expensive to install at the new ground with the additional turnstiles and administration on the horizon. I'm sure they'll come back some day but it's hardly a priority in the scheme of things, it's obviously not a big money saver either as we'd be using them. They could save more with pay on the gate for none season ticket holders, save all that hassle of buying for the fans, reduce the load on the ticket office and save money by not having to print tickets. But they'll only do it for away fans as it's consider a security risk for home fans.
Tommeh Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 when I went Blackburn in the cup 3 seasons ago, I had to put my ticket in some machine and it wouldn't work so the guy had to come and open the turnstile for me. Their more trouble than their worth!
DB11 Posted 1 August 2007 Author Posted 1 August 2007 Hmm... ok well my mates are WBA fans (who use the card system) and the cards look quite nice. Got your picture on and DOB so you can use it as an identity card too.
Durnerz Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 I remember having one of these as my first season ticket at filbo and it was rubbish, only worked first time 1 in about 10 times. Much easier with the booklets.
Phube Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 We had them for the last season at Filbert Street ( ). It worked really well, apart from the machine spitting your card out at mach 3!!!!
Ashley Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 The only reason we done have the the ticket cards is were to tight to have it installed
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 TeamCard (who supply our much-maligned loyalty cards) also produce combined loyalty/entry cards for clubs like Chelsea, Celtic etc. I would think it's not too far away - quite surprised it wasn't done this summer (at least we would have them by now!).
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 I agree they are not that much quicker than the current system, but there would be other benefits for the club in terms of administration, tracking season ticket use and various other statistics. They would also save on printing and posting tickets for Cup games etc (not to mention the actual season ticket books). Basic plastic cards (even with smart technology) must be pretty cheap these days.
Webbo Posted 1 August 2007 Posted 1 August 2007 I knew a couple of lads who got away with using a juvenile swipe card for a season when we had them at Filbo.
DB11 Posted 2 August 2007 Author Posted 2 August 2007 Shit grounds have the card system. Why? Go cheap on the ground so they can afford to install it

mancunianfox Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 No way. They use it at Eastlands and it is absolutely useless. They are forever failing and at Man City I can tell you that the fans hate them.
Sir Fynwy Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 The trial at City was ended because too many people were getting in free by passing back the cards and when they didn't swipe the second time going to the ticket office to get a 'free' ticket (that's the way it was explained to me anyway). The system used was cr@p.

The away tickets for Man City are plastic cards too. Don't think they are swipe though. I remember having to hold it against some kind of lazer but their was still someone standing by the machine explaining how it was meant to work which makes the whole thing a bit of a waste of money really.
philce Posted 2 August 2007 Posted 2 August 2007 Or just get a new season ticket when you "loose" yours, then bring your mate for a fiver!
