Mark Posted 11 August 2007 Posted 11 August 2007 Sounds like Max had a cracking debut for Bournemouth today as they drew away at Forest. Gradel was a handful all afternoon for the Forest left-back (even getting booed because he kept winning free-kicks with his trickery). I hope Leicester didn't have someone watching Gradel today. he was up and down all game, played really well, looks a good player He had a ludicrously good game today. Can we keep him please? Radio said he was knacked at the end with cramp but still manged a crucial blockTop bloke. He completely owned the right wing. I wish we could say that about our own right winger, and I expect they'll be wanting to extend the loan if he keeps it up - wouldn't mind him back here TBH and playing what with Kaabi out injured.

Yeh I'd like to see him here. I'm an admirer of Gradel. He has confidence to run at his man, crossing isn't bad either and can always score a couple. Hopefully though, this match experience is doing him good.
Flynny Posted 11 August 2007 Posted 11 August 2007 My grandad's a Forest fan and apparantly he sounded dead good on the radio.
Jimmy Posted 11 August 2007 Posted 11 August 2007 Was bloody brilliant. Possibly MoTm. Forest fans didn't like him as he kept "fouling" their players. They couldn't touch him. He showed the right amount of aggression and put himself about. His pace and skill looked promising too. So I don't think he is what you need.. we'll have him for you.
Thracian Posted 11 August 2007 Posted 11 August 2007 I never understood the decision to let him go for one minute. Gradel's got his faults but he's an infinitely greater threat than Newton. A +1 in the potential scorers list instead of +0.5 or even 0.25 if we're really honest.

Jimmy Posted 11 August 2007 Posted 11 August 2007 same poster as before's reaction to my saying hopefully he'll come back here and have the same impact. Nah he's shit really.. please can we keep him.
Simon Posted 11 August 2007 Posted 11 August 2007 If he continues to impress there, then I would HOPE he'll get his opportunity here, sooner rather than later.

And I hope he's not going to hammer young Mattock now cos of one small setback. He should tell him tomorrow he's in the squad for Accrington cos, like someone who's fallen off a horse or been in a car accident, the sooner they're back riding or driving the better. I could give him a long list of worse things every one of our established senior players have done. And there'll be more to follow before the season's out.
Webbo Posted 11 August 2007 Posted 11 August 2007 It's ironic really, if Milan hadn't have taken us over, a lot of the youngsters would have had to play out of necessity. Whether that would have been a good or a bad thing we'll never know.

Flynny Posted 11 August 2007 Posted 11 August 2007 The bastard. I know! I'll sort out the "**** off back to Serbia" banners printed, you mobilise the revolution. We'll need 50 stout men, skilled at hand to hand combat...

Jonbluefox9 Posted 11 August 2007 Posted 11 August 2007 Radio said he was knacked at the end with cramp but still manged a crucial block He often goes down late on and gets treatment. It might be cramp but I think it's a bit of an act that he puts on. He's quite a theatrical character.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 11 August 2007 Posted 11 August 2007 F**k it. I'd have him back and in the team for the Accrington game.
Thracian Posted 11 August 2007 Posted 11 August 2007 F**k it. I'd have him back and in the team for the Accrington game. It'd be a bit rough on Bournemouth. Couldn't they have Newton instead?.
lildave3 Posted 11 August 2007 Posted 11 August 2007 It'd be a bit rough on Bournemouth. Couldn't they have Newton instead?. Sod Bournemouth
Fez of Mahrez Posted 11 August 2007 Posted 11 August 2007 It'd be a bit rough on Bournemouth. Couldn't they have Newton instead?. I don't think Newton is as bad as you make out, it certainly didn't help playing him on the left wing for a large part of the game. That is no better than the idea of Chambers playing left-back. I can see he is going to be the new Hughes for you though. It's all about Ka'abi this season.
The Reverend Posted 11 August 2007 Posted 11 August 2007 Correct Fez, Newton is not as bad as Thracian is making out. It was Newtons fault Mattock had a shocker though........!!!!!! Mattock played crap. he had an off day. He was off the boil. Through no fault of anybodies but his own. Just cos hes academy, the sun shines out his arse. Im sure it wont happen again, but he did and thats the end of it. Oh yeah, well done Gradel. Keep it up!

He and Hughes are the classic "experienced professionals" referred to in Sir Stanley Matthews' autobiography. Players who huff and puff enough to consistently seem no worse than anyone else. Yet too often their impact is negligible in terms of goals or final passes.

Its great to read that the locals thought he played well but lets not forget the level he is playing at and also point out that he seems to tire or get cramp! A one month loan may be ideal to sharpen the lad up and who knows, he may feature within the first team sooner rather than later! We are also yet to see Kaebi BTW and Newton IMO was our best midfielder today, especially when MA switched him from the left. I think we are OK for now and have no need to panic because the Iranian Giggs is almost fit

I don't think the gulf between top league 1 teams and mediocre champtonship teams is as big as you believe it is as Blackpool proved today.

I don't think the gulf between top league 1 teams and mediocre champtonship teams is as big as you believe it is as Blackpool proved today. Good point as Forest have a decent side apparently but not good enough for promotion may I add. Had we won today, hardly anyone would have mentioned Gradel BTW! Im not saying he isnt good enough as I have never seen him play but look at some of the crap that was written about Mattock today after one bad game! Most players need to learn there trade before being thrust into the deep end and Mattock looked like some of the pressure was getting to him as we expect too much IMO. BTW, I still want to see a Chambers - Kaebi right side before we talk of Gradel playing for the first team.
