Phube Posted 16 August 2007 Posted 16 August 2007 Also, how do you find out if you receive a HD signal? It's for gaming and TV The only ways to get HD tv is by subscribing to Sky HD (Only 8ish channels at the mo'!!) or live in London (there's a HD BBC test going on!). Or, Get a HD-DVD/Blu-Ray player Or, Get an XBox 360 or PS3. These are the only ways I'm afraid! DONT BELIEVE THE HD HYPE... we're so far away from it yet!!

How come people on Amazon say the picture quality is amazing on the freeview which comes with it free then? I'm thinking of getting Sky HD anyway tbh, basically getting it for Sky Sports HD and my xbox.

I've only got freeview (not HD) and an LCD HD ready TV and the picture is a big improvement.
act smiley Posted 16 August 2007 Posted 16 August 2007 What do you mean, surely if it's HD ready it has HD? "HD-ready" means that its physically capable of doing it - but the manufacturer hasn't paid up to the people that own the patents on HD, which means they haven't got the copy-protection stuff which means that it won't be able to actually receive official HD signals.
hairy Posted 16 August 2007 Posted 16 August 2007 We got as Sony BRAVIA 32" with freeview from 'Santa' last year got it from Richersounds. It is by far the best picture I have seen on a flat screen to date for the price.

So even if I buy a HD ready TV and get Sky HD i won't get any high definition pictures Then what is the point in buying one?
Phube Posted 16 August 2007 Posted 16 August 2007 I'm only talking if he's desperate for HD. I wouldn't recommend it for games!! And as my extensive FT poll shows, 70% of the population* don't even own an HD set!!! The Great HD poll *Of FoxesTalk
hairy Posted 16 August 2007 Posted 16 August 2007 So even if I buy a HD ready TV and get Sky HD i won't get any high definition pictures Then what is the point in buying one? No if you buy an HD TV and subcribe to an HD channel (eg SkyHD) then you will get HD. You just cannot get HD any other way for TV.

Oh right, cheers. Im guessing you need to buy a TV with 'real HD' to watch every channel in high definition? Don't mind getting Sky HD anyway tbh, only a tenner more a month

Walk into the shop and ask for the manager only and tell him what special cash deals he`ll do for you. About 4 years ago I used to manage a Currys and on the last day of the month if we needed to do say 150,000 for my tasty bonus, I would do silly deals to get there and they are all at it. They have loads of discretion and you can get great deals if there target is in sight and every month was a close one hence why all my mates and family ended up with fantastic deals

In any case if you make sure you buying it off a trusted seller then is should be all good and you'll get it at about half the price.
