DB11 Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 Jesus christ what is wrong with him? He is the LCFC manager so you've gotta get behind him. He has got promoted twice, and is regarded as highly at WBA as MON is here at Leicester. Give him a chance and if he achieves what we all want - promotion - then we must be grateful!

Wherethefoxhat? Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 Hello there. I'm a curious Forest fan; not looking to cause trouble, but merely intrigued by this appointment. There are a few points in Megson's favour: when he inherited Joe Kinnear's side we were already doomed to relegation, Kinnear hardly ran a tight ship and the players basically behaved as they chose. Megson was sure he could keep us up, but he had bitten off more than he could chew. We didn't blame him for that. His problems really started when he put his own squad together. He released droves of 'deadwood' and spent in excess of £2m with little effect. By the time he left us we were in the club's all-time low position; four points off the League One relegation zone with one win in 10. More worryingly from your perspective, he basically faced an insurrection from the players he had signed. He rules with an iron fist and is actually something of a bully; there came a point when he was quite literally being ignored by the playing staff. He often blames 'shocking things that I've never experienced before' when speaking of his days at Forest, but the only thing he is referring to is the fact that the players grew tired of his approach and shut him out. Frankly he was an arse hole for the sake of being an arse hole; banning mobile phones on the team coach, training on away day mornings as punishment. Modern day professionals just won't put up with this stuff. Megson always speaks articulately and is brutally honest, but that's every compliment I can pay him. His footballing approach makes Micky Adams' Leicester side look like Brazil. Perhaps this won't materialise in the first few months, but you can ultimately expect gruesome long balls, clearances into the stand, and eleven men behind the ball at 1-0 up. We would rather have Martin Allen every single day of the week. As for Tuesday, it could go either way. Either Megson will be so determined to stuff us that you will, or his former players will be so determined to stuff you that we'll pick up where we left off the other week. Good luck, you're going to effing need it. NO---------YOU effing need it!!!! YOU'VE got Calderwood---------precisely what has he ever WON!!!!!! Cant wait for Tuesday now---------1-0 to the Leicester!!!!!
dandannieldanok Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 I'm amazed at how people can dislike Megson, yet like Allen. The only thing Allen has over Megson is brown hair, some witty analogies and hasn't ever been relegated from the Premiership.Megson has 2 promotions to the Premiership over Allen, infact Allen has zero promotions. Thye both play horrible football. Amen to that.
skegness fox Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 Megson would definatly not be my choice, but he's here and the fans have to get behind him 100%. He was a good manager at WBA so hopefully he will do the same here. So lets stop the pessamistic bus and all get off. COME ON LEICESTER!
Durnerz Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 The bloke looks just like Steve McClaren minus the tuft in the picture special! I'm worried but as usual stupidly and blindly optimistic about this, just hope he can make us into the side West Brom were when they pissed all over this division.
Finn Claw Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 long ball with our strike force? De Vries can't head, i've no idea if Cort can, not sure Dudley is big enough to be our target man. Oh well, most of the managers we have had recently have been rubbish so from a point of zero optimism Megson can only do well.
Daggers Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 long ball with our strike force? De Vries can't head Have you watched him this season?
Thracian Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 . Cracking post - can't argue with a word.
Raj Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 Who would have been an appointment that would have been head and shoulders above the rest? Peter Reid,Neil warnock and Glenn Roeder,Glenn Hoddle,That bloke from Chelsea... They would all have been better!!!
reynard Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 The bloke looks just like Steve McClaren minus the tuft in the picture special!I'm worried but as usual stupidly and blindly optimistic about this, just hope he can make us into the side West Brom were when they pissed all over this division. They hardly did that. They won 1-0 most of the time and played excruciatingly boring football. He gets my backing but I don't see us going far with him and expect him to be gone by christmas.
Eastern Fox Posted 14 September 2007 Posted 14 September 2007 This feels like going back to the bad parts of the Micky Adams days. Under the signings Allen/Mandaric made and some of the results, it looked like we might be moving towards some degree of passing football. We'll be moving back to physical hoofball with Megson without a doubt, that's how he did it at West Brom and Forest. According to the Forest poster he has problems with man-management too, like Adams. I wish Mandaric cared more about the long term than simply getting someone he thinks will grind us to promotion. This appointment makes his sacking of Allen look even more ridiculous: he replaces him with someone out of work for 18 months that did a terrible job at his last club. Reminds me of Souness' appointment at Newcastle-premature, obviously not the top candidate, plays mechanical football. Even if he got us promoted this season, we'd go straight back down. On the basis of recent promotions/relegations, you can't play like that and survive in the Premiership these days. Now he's definitely the manager, we should get behind him obviously, but this is a terrible choice by MM.

eaststandtom Posted 14 September 2007 Posted 14 September 2007 I'd settle for that first! Then worry about staying up! aye!!!
Mack Posted 14 September 2007 Author Posted 14 September 2007 Who from what was available would have been a better option? Forget the crap attached to Davies, Burley and the others in employment. Who would have been an appointment that would have been head and shoulders above the rest? For Me Paul Jewell. Has got two different teams into the prem and unlike Megson has kept them there on a budget. Like others have said Megson is in the chair now so there is no point keeping on about beeing pissed off. Milan asked us to trust him so I for one will give the new manager some slack to prove he is up to the task in hand, even if my heart and head are telling me something different.
AyewJoking Posted 14 September 2007 Posted 14 September 2007 What an arsehole solution by Mandaric. All we can do as fans is show a bit of blind faith and get behind the new regime or hurl abuse/do nothing. Either way its Mandaric who pulls the strings, even if Megson does a good job theres still the chance he will upset Mandaric and end up getting sacked anyway.
Wils Posted 14 September 2007 Posted 14 September 2007 Im very shocked and angry at this decision,Milan has rushed into this and really dont think it was wise. Megson isnt the man to take this club where we want to be, i really hope he prooves me wrong but i just cant see it.
