Thracian Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Porter provided far better and available support for Sheehan on the left than Kishishev did when he came on. But today only illustrated what I've said all along til I'm fed up of saying it ...that Porter's not a winger. He doesn't have the pace to beat people and get away from them. But don't imagine there's others capable of doing the job cos I've not seen them, apart from the injured Hayes. Ferreira remains very much an unknown quantity. It doesn't help Porter to play early balls when we have so few people making effective runs into the box nor is i helpful having Hume taking the corners he should have but basically, as I've said before he's an attacking central midfield player who needs a freer role if he plays at all. Oh yes, getting rid of people! The only guy I'd want rid of right now is Megson.

Porter was taken off corners because he hardly ever beats the 1st man, please for once take your blinkers off
Daggers Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Well we were better with him on the left than bringing Kish on. ~The substtitutions today were what lost us two points. That, and Campbell's lack of finishing ability in front of goal. The game should have been sewn up before the subs but they ensured it wouldn't be.
Thracian Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Sheehan & Porter are both absolute bags of wank and it's mediocre players like these which mean we can't possibly be pushing for promotion till we get some proper replacements in. Cold, hard facts. You do talk nonsense. Any manager worth his corn would have sewn today's game up without breaking sweat. Sheehan made a perfectly acceptable contribution in what was a tightly defined role and Porter had the sort of day almost every other player has experienced this season - below his best. what concernes me most is that his assists have dried up but then he's less involved in what goes on. Cort, N'Gotty, Chambers, Kishishev and even Campbell for long periods, were no better.

Cold, hard facts. Which are they? Absolute bags of wank or mediocre? Mediocre means average, not terrible. We've got other players that could be described as mediocre, some people have a chip on their shoulder against Levi Porter for some reason. Everyone has bad games, if he's really that bad then Megson won't play him again.

He was off the pace from the start, failing to read the game and anticipate passes and failing to run to chase the ball on too many occasions. I'd rather see Mattock there until we have someone fit + working visa + ability
Ozwin Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 I know nothing about this Djeziri bloke, who is he, how good is he, where does he play? The only thing I heard was that he's a reserve team player at best. And that was after some reserve match a few weeks back. He's now wanted in the first team? Make your minds up.

I saw nothing on Monday that would make me consider him for the first team at this stage. He's lightweight but with a trick or two.I'm not sure he'd get in the Academy side on merit - at least not at this stage.
Unabomber Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Levi was poor today; not an argument against that I would have thought. However he is bound to be poor when he is dealing with constant long balls, same with Hume and DJ though. Alot of aimless long balls probably intended for Cort were going anywhere. And also like DavieG said it was Megson who lost the 3 points with the changes. Personally I would have brought on Newton for DJ not Chambers, and the Kish for Porter was just taking defensive tactics to the absolute maximum. In my opinion Levi is an o.k footballer however I don't think he can cut it at this level, but he is not going to be helped by constant long balls and defensive tactics.

Anyway, Kaebi and the new Portugese guy should have played. They blatantly have more quality put together and I could see them being a great duo down the wings, occasionally switching maybe. Levi and Hume? Nah thanks, Humey up front and Levi right back, on the bench. Sawt it ahhtt.

Milky Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 I see. Why did we get him again? Don't write Djaziri off yet. I saw him play for the reserves, and he did possess a lot of natural ability. Certainly a more skilful player than porter.

Certainly a more skilful player than porter. doesn't have to be more skillful just needs to actually chase the ball and not give up if he takes 3 steps and hasn't got there
Ozwin Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Fair enough, I havn't seen anything so I can't pass judgement at all. I'm just taking what you guys say and maybe making too strong an opinion. I'll be fair on him.

Certainly a more skilful player than porter. Yeah I thought he looked good enough, he had pace, provided a great ball that lead to Fryatt's goal, he also had all the tricks and we haven't seen much trickery at the Walkers lately. I think he just needs the right management and guidance as he was wasteful on occasions and did a few too many tricks etc and didn't get the ball in quick enough. However we have Megson in charge.........

Flexx Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Good league 1 player, Poor championship player. GET RID
Unabomber Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Good league 1 player, Poor championship player. GET RID Agreed
Daggers Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 How can you judge Kishishev for such a little amount of time? Based on a total lack of contribution, maybe?
lookwhaticando Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Good league 1 player, Poor championship player. GET RID Agreed How the bollocks can you say he's a good League One player when you've never seen him play at that level?
Tevez Posted 15 September 2007 Author Posted 15 September 2007 I think he's trying to say, He would make a good League 1 player. But that's too generous, League Two i think.
Flexx Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 How the bollocks can you say he's a good League One player when you've never seen him play at that level? I'm not saying he WILL be a good League one player, but he might because it's a step down in quality and so is Levi
Jimmy Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 How can you judge Kishishev for such a little amount of time? Thrac will use any ammunition possible to defend 1 of his beloved ex-academy players, no matter how unfair or ridiculous

I think he's trying to say, He would make a good League 1 player. But that's too generous, League Two i think. Exactly. He is clearly not good enough at this level so It's generous to say he would be alright in League One.
lookwhaticando Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 I'm not saying he WILL be a good League one player, but he might because it's a step down in quality and so is Levi Oh I see... you were just unclear. It came across as fact when you simply state "Good League 1 player", as opposed to an opinion (qualified with "he might be a..." for example).
