Fez of Mahrez Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 Deja vu. Fulop Chambers McAuley N'Gotty SheehanKaebi Wesolowski Clemence HumeDe Vries Fryatt Subs: Henderson, Kisnorbo, Kishishev, Campbell, Ferreira. That's personally what I would pick although I know there are many that will disagree. You'll get 100% effort from all of those midfielders, we can't afford passengers like Porter and Newton as we had last time out up there. I thought Kisnorbo looked maybe half a yard off the pace yesterday which is understandable considering his international duties in midweek so would rest him. We can afford to do that with players like McAuley and N'Gotty available for selection. Fryatt deserves a chance. Maybe a lack of pace up front but you'd hope Hume and Kaebi would be pushing on and into the middle a fair bit. It'll be very interesting to see what he picks. I hope Kaebi gets a game. The fans need a lift.
Mort Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 Fulop Chambers McAuley N'Gotty SheehanKaebi Wesolowski Clemence HumeDe Vries Fryatt Subs: Henderson, Kisnorbo, Kishishev, Campbell, Ferreira. I'd pretty much go for the same with a few minor chanages... Fulop Chambers McAuley N'Gotty SheehanHume Wesolowski Clemence FerreiraDe Vries Campbell Subs: Henderson, Kisnorbo, Fryatt, Kaebi, Cort ...after last time around I would start with Fulop every single game if possible (as all our other keepers are simply dross!). Still dont accept the arguments of the Fryatt supporters, however I'd like to see him give a chance at some point as dare i say that not playing him even from the bench is a little unfair (either sell off, loan out or play him! )... Cort was decent for the first hour or so on Saturday but is simply not up to a full run out from what i saw, so start with DeVries, DJ playing off him and Hume on the right (where he seems to enjoy far greater freedom and can be a lot "buisier"). Would also like to see Ferreira and Kaebi given their chance, Ferreira IMHO is a must as he might well really help us on the left while Kaebi would be a strong option from the bench. Not that any of this will happen of course.
dog_4 Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 i'd go for: fulop, chambers, kisnorbo, macualey, sheehan, diziri, newton, clemence, ferreira, hume and finally give Matty fryatt has i do feel he is a missing link.

I'd go for that, i think Hume would be more dangerous cutting in and shooting from the left then he can be on the right . i'd like to see Stearman at Cb though and this could be the game to try that out
Joe. Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 I only hope he doesn't pick a half arsed second team like last time. For me it'd have to be: Fulop N'Gotty McAuley Kisnorbo Sheehan Kaebi Clemence Weso Porter Hume De Vries
Bryn Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 No point in me picking a team, it's the same as Fez's every week. Spot on.
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 This fixture surely has all the ingredients for a City win...... we where loosing at half time in the first tie, lads should be spurred on to beat the scummers for Clarkey, Megson returning to his old club for his first real game in charge (where he left under a cloud)....... = Villa away next round!! (although we do support Leicester, lest we forget!! Never an easy ride eh!)
Simi Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 Absolutely vital that we play Martin Fulop. After Paul "Flap" Hendersons nightmare in the first leg I will have very little confidence if he starts between the sticks. After yesterdays performance from Fulop I find he spreads confidence throughout the defence and always seems to cool down the pressure on the rest of the team. Here is what I would go with... Fulop Chambers McAuley Kisnorbo Sheehan Kaebi Clemence Weso Ferreria/Hume De Vries Hume/Campbell
Kent Fox Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 Fez, I think you have it bang on. Hume, Cort and DJ are not on top of their game as yet, whereas MDV has made an impact on the fans with his renewed vigour and Matty has been banging them in for the Rezzies. A well thought out team. Megson out. Fez in.

As you know, I'm not exactly Hendo's biggest fan. It seemed everytime a cross came in you thought Forest were going to score last time round. It's a different story with Fulop. We need him to play.
willy37 Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 fulop n' gotty kisnorbo mcauley sheehan ferreira clemence weso kaebi hume de vries
dog_4 Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 chris cohen's corners were really dangerous so its imperative fulop is in goal.
BigGibbo Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 chris cohen's corners were really dangerous so its imperative fulop is in goal. Definately
Thracian Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 Fulop; Chambers, Kisnorbo, Stearman, Sheehan; Kaebi, Wesolowski, Porter; King, DeVries, Campbell. subs: Henderson, N'Gotty, Clemence, Fryatt, Hume. At last I feel City really are capable of fielding an genuine attacking side and this one is intended to have natural balance and players who compliment each other in close proximity. There really are a lot of potential scorers in the side, people who can make width naturally, DeVries as our strongest big man, Campbell as our fast, elusive front man, given that Hume deserves a (genuine) rest and Stearman is the best and most mobile centre-back who can back-up in midfield or left-back should Sheehan or Porter go forward. King is brought in because he offers another aerial threat, can ghost in for goals and is an excellent first time passer of the ball into dangerous places. Porter stays in to provide width going forward and proper support in defence for Sheehan. He could also interchange with King. Kaebi/Chambers can do the same on the right. Far from the tired, ultra cautious and essentially flawed approach of Megson this is an essentially fastish, mobile, passing side which could form our core for the future.
Mark Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 De Vries rarely performs in away games, so no point in him starting the game especially with Fryatt - no pace/movement up top. Corts performance yesterday means he can play for the Reserves on Wednesday night instead. Now's the time to get Kaebi and Ferreira in the squad if we have any plans to do so. Fulop Chambers N'Gotty Kisnorbo Sheehan Hume Wesolowski Clemence Ferreira Campbell Fryatt Subs: Henderson, Stearman, Kaebi, Newton, De Vries Unfortunately nothing close to this with Megson in charge.
Webbo Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 Because I think Megson's a 3-5-2 at heart I'll go for Fez's team from another thread. Fulop N'Gotty McAuley KisnorboKaebi Clemence Wesolowski SheehanHumeDe Vries Campbell
Simi Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 Fulop;Chambers, Kisnorbo, Stearman, Sheehan; Kaebi, Wesolowski, Porter; King, DeVries, Campbell. As you said Thrac, there are a lot of potential scorers out there, but I have no doubt that the midfield you have down will be bullied all over the City ground. Especially with Porter and Kaebi, we would end up far to open in the centre and physically dominated.

Wooly Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 FulopChambers N'Gotty Kisnorbo Sheehan Hume Wesolowski Clemence Ferreira Campbell Fryatt Unfortunately nothing close to this with Megson in charge. Why would you add this stupid, spiteful little comment to the end? The team will be almost identical to that apart from Fryatt who is a stupid pick given that he's our 5th choice striker. Other differences will be minor.
Simi Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 I hope Megson decides to go with De Vries, so often in the first half last time Hume and Campbell were getting pushed around and the midfield weren't getting the chance to get close to them to offer any support. Especially away from home, it's important we have a presence up top.
Simon Posted 16 September 2007 Posted 16 September 2007 Posted this in the pre-match chit-chat thread, but guess it's better here. It's harsh on Cort that he's dropped, as he wasn't quite as bad as everyone made out (he did get some right stick where I was sitting in the Kop) but he's clearly short on fitness and Fryatt deserves at least a place on the bench. I think Chambers, Kaebi and Ferreira HAVE to start this game. Surely everyone can see that? Fulop Chambers McAuley N'Gotty Sheehan Kaebi Weso Clem Ferreira Hume De Vries Subs: DJ, Kisnorbo, Newton, Fryatt, Kishishev

The team will be almost identical to that apart from Fryatt who is a stupid pick given that he's our 5th choice striker. Other differences will be minor. What sort of team is chosen will depend on the priority City give to the League Cup. Judging by our team for the first match neither MA or MM rated it high priority. I've no idea whether the fans dissatisfaction that night will result in a different approach although you'd think Megson might want to win badly enough.

The QPR performance/tactics did nothing to change the majority's opinion that he was not a good choice of manager. He needs to raise the confidence of the players and the fans by producing a performance against a weak side like Forest.
