Bert Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 Best transfer of the summer. The man is a brilliant captain, always leading by example, so here's the thread to show your appreciation!! He absolutly loved it at the end of the game! Clemence is our leader la la la la!!
Geo V Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 Did it last year in a successful team and seems to continue to improve with age. I'm glad he is with us as he has loads of qualities and many needed in a captain of a side. Lets hope he continues to get forward and manages 8-10 goals this season which would be a miracle but god knows we need goals from midfield! :worship:
Head Honcho Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 I was dubious about him signing when but he's proved me wrong with some sterling performances this season. He does need to be involved more in games I can't remember hearing his name until he scored last night-but as the squad develops he should improve even more.
Wezleylowski Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 He was a cut above yesterday, true captain. I absoloutely loved his goal
foxin_oz Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 Another good game from our captain ... he never stops trying and is probably our best signing this season ... so far anyway ...
Flynny Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 He was involved in everything. Looked better when Weso went off. Am I allowed to say that? I'm not saying it was necessarily BECAUSE Weso went off, but it might well have been.
Lord Nibblington Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 He was involved in everything. Looked better when Weso went off. Am I allowed to say that? I'm not saying it was necessarily BECAUSE Weso went off, but it might well have been. Risky. Verrry Risky.
ronnup Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 The man's the backbone already. Genius transfer
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 He was involved in everything. Looked better when Weso went off. Am I allowed to say that? I'm not saying it was necessarily BECAUSE Weso went off, but it might well have been. He was just showing his leadership quallities and picking up the slack like all good leaders do. I think he is a great signing for us and i hope he continues his great form
Thracian Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 He and Weso together have made a big difference to our midfield. Question now is who replaces Weso. Andy King would be my choice. He rarely takes more than two touches, he's industrious, quite good in the air, can thread good passes as I am sure Matty Fryatt would testify, he is useful defensively and can score goals. He made a rare mistake with a back pass in the reserves last time out - and it was rare because he's such a consistent performer. But that lapse apart he was outstanding in midfield and put a brilliant ball through to Fryatt from which he nettd but was given marginally offside. King also has the same ball-to-feet passing style which would fit in so well with the likes of Clemence, Sheehan, Fryatt, and Kaebi if he ever gets in at right midfield. Kishishev is an option but far too defensive and territorially llimited to my mind. It will be an important decision.
andyh1884 Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 He was immense last night, a true leader. When he went round trying to get everyone's head up after their second it made me believe we could still get the win, couldn't think of a better player to hit the winner
Darkzzz_ Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 I agree, clem has been great since he came in... True leader... I remember when brum beat us 2-1 at home last season and he really shone on the night and we needed a player like that... Just hope we can kick on from last night and start climbing up the table.
Kilworthfox Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 The best defensive midfielder in the leauge! Our best signing since Hume
Ric Flair Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 Quality player, every manager in the league would have him in their team. Wesolowski has upstaged him with some of his performances this season, but Clemence has shown his class when needed. I actually think he's capable of 5-10 goals a season if we can get the confidence of the team up and play some attacking football. He's got a very good shot on him from distance and is probably unlucky not to have 3 goals to his name already with his effort against Watford and QPR rattling the bar. Delighted he's ours.
Wilkesy Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 Quality player, quality goal! Definately our best signing, him and Weso have got to be one of the best central midfield partnerships in the league!
The People's Hero Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 I was absolutely thrilled when we signed him. I believe Bruce doubted he could do a job in the Premiership. I wouldn't be so sure to be honest as he was OUTSTANDING for Brum last year, everytime I saw him. Quite honestly, I don't think we've been this strong in the middle of the park for years. Would love to see Ferreira and Ka'ebi on the wings as once we see genuine movement down the flanks, it gives the boys in the middle a license to spray it about a bit.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 Obviously has been excellent, no question. I particularly like his calmness in possession. He rarely loses the ball. I noticed he did once or twice last night but the exceptions prove the rule. The number of times we lost possession in midfield last year was appalling. I've always said central midfield is the most important position on the pitch and I think his signing has proven this. We just look a far superior team with him in there. Was thrilled that he scored the winner last night and loved his celebration, he celebrated like a fan and it was purely from him running away like a mentalist that I realised Smith hadn't managed to tip it round the post!!

I was in Block Y1, not far from you if you were in X1 - and i didn't see the net move for his or Stermans goal..
Wils Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 So glad we signed him. Been great this season, possibly the best centre midfeilder weve had since Muzzy a great leader of the team.
eaststandtom Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 how refreshing to see a midfielder who can run, shoot, pass and tackle! quite a novelty considering the 'midfielders' we have had for the past few years. bring back gareth williams!!!! not really
Kent Fox Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 Player of the Year??? Has to be in contention and that's just from what I have read. I've not seen him play yet. I bet Steve Bruce wishes he'd kept him
Bert Posted 19 September 2007 Author Posted 19 September 2007 From the upper tier you could see it went in as soon as he hit it. We stood and sang al game and the atmosphere was pretty good up there last night.
