Kilworthfox Posted 24 September 2007 Posted 24 September 2007 I'm amazed he can remember it all. Do you take notes Thrac? Yes he does like some kind of former journo
Joe. Posted 24 September 2007 Posted 24 September 2007 I'm amazed he can remember it all. Do you take notes Thrac? I think he does. I remember the old Thracian note taking at Accrington
syston_fox Posted 24 September 2007 Posted 24 September 2007 Kaebi gave a much more disciplined display than previously yet still caused all sorts of trouble for the visiting defence and appropriately climaxed his night by flicking a final interception over an advancing attacker, catching it on the other side of his bewildered opponent and slipping a first time pass to a colleague who set city back on attack - a moment of sheer class. Surely he's gotta be worth at least a place on the bench by now?!?! Fingers crossed Megson takes as big an interest in the reserves as Thrac does!
He's not bald Posted 24 September 2007 Posted 24 September 2007 I think he does. I remember the old Thracian note taking at Accrington Soggy notes then!
Thracian Posted 24 September 2007 Posted 24 September 2007 Pentney 7.75 (Little to do but two outstanding saves, one from a header and another a block when he was last man. Only his slowdistribution let him down) Kaebi 8 (Livewire display. Steady at full-back and a constant menace when he ventured forward. Clearly a favourite with the fans). Kenton 6.5 (Improved as the game went on). Magunda 6 (Rather like Kenton he had an easier time once Hartson went off) Maybury 7 (One assist for Sappleton and so nearly a second for Billy McKay. A bit basic at times in the first half defensively but more controlled and involved after the break). Ferreira 6 (Promising performance until injured just before the break). King 8.5 (Masterful in midfield. Won the penalty for City's first goal, peppered the West Brom goal with shots, took some dangerous free-kicks and made so many chances for Sappleton and co). Hellings 6.5 (Steady enough but not especially noticable) Djiziri 6 (Some eyecatching skills but never plays the early ball and too often ignores colleagues in a better position) Hammond 7 (Excellent in his brief time on the field. Had a goal disallowed for being narrowly offside, a volley which went wide and looked set to cause havoc before his injury - again, apparently, to his ankle) Sappleton 9 (Two goals, one assist and stacks of efforts on goal. Just seemed to revel in the service he got from midfield) Subs: McKay 7 (A real headache for West Brom. Had chances to score a couple of goals but brought others into play and constantly put the visiting defence under pressure) Beswick 7 (Another goal and his usual valuable contribution) Ashley Chambers 6.5 (So nearly created an outstanding goal for McKay when teaming up with Maybury. Might have scored at the death when he turned inside and saw his goalbound shot loop up off a defender and finally get cleared). With Beaglehole and Stowell now taking responsibility for the Reserves they clearly looked to be playing the style of football which has characterised the Academy for so long. The team looked as if they were enjoying their football and for the 300/400 odd spectators it was all splendid entertainment with an abundance of chances. Good to see Weso and Sheehan down there supporting the team too.
Milky Posted 24 September 2007 Author Posted 24 September 2007 Hammond 7 (Excellent in his brief time on the field. Havoc! Excellent! Narrowly offside! He did o.k in his 10 minutes. Who are you trying to kid?

Who are you trying to kid? I know where you are coming from Milky but Thrac was quite insistent and as i missed his performance I am in no position to judge but He's always shit so I'm with you sorry thrac
Thracian Posted 24 September 2007 Posted 24 September 2007 You do yourself no favours with shit like that. Havoc! Excellent! Narrowly offside! He did o.k in his 10 minutes. Who are you trying to kid? Broadly I judge people on what they do on the time they're on the field. And in the short time he was there he caused havoc. If you think differently I'm sure you'll say so.

He did do pretty well, and was suprisingly sharp, but you have blown it up a bit. What to other people who went to the game think?
Thracian Posted 24 September 2007 Posted 24 September 2007 so sappletonn for the first team, then...i assume he could provide a target man role.... i say this in jest but, to be honest, why the hell not... devries was apparently crap at forest, cort, well... the guy is obviously young and hungry and has nothing to lose.... Risky at this stage. But he is making progress with every game. He's a surprisingly poor header of the ball for such a big guy but his ground skills are improving, he's lasting the pace better and he's benefitting from having people compliment what he does. When he first arrived he didn't use his colleagues quickly enough but that aspect has improved dramatically and he is also remarkably focused on getting into or around the box and having a shot. Indeed he seems prepared to shoot from all angles and he certainly packs some power. He's got his raw edges, no question but he's a positive player in everything he does and everyone in the reserves camp seems to have confidence in him.

I think Elvis makes Horseshit look good but I'm only going on previous "appearances" Also I believe that he is a uselesstosser But hey he may have set the pontins alight for 10 minutes
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 25 September 2007 Posted 25 September 2007 LM: Djeziri 8 - (Off injured 65mins, hip problem) .This lad has more natural ability and flair in his little finger than Sheehan and Porter have in their whole body put together. Just like last time he had all the extravagent trickery, but crucially this time, there was an end product to it all. Which was nice. Get this lad in the team on our left wing, because with his pace and trickery he's dangerous. What's great is he has the confidence to run at people unlike Porter. Was he actually injured? Or did he know he was playing well, so he'd rest himself for posible selection on wed? Perhaps he's not that clever! Stirring the pot nicely
Thracian Posted 25 September 2007 Posted 25 September 2007 Stirring the pot nicely He's certainly got some tricks. Whether they'll ever have any effect on a result remains to be seen. On the one hand it is refreshing to see someone who, like Kaebi, defies the nonsense about not taking people on which has pervaded our football as the Disciples of Dour have taken over so much of our football. On the other hand he slows so many moves to a standstill and players making good runs are ignored and finally put out of position and out of the game. It remains to be seen if he can find the right balance.

Dames Posted 25 September 2007 Posted 25 September 2007 Yeah but Porter never beats anyone or plays balls of any quality. So he's worth a go over our resident pisshead. Yet a team of Porters would rip premiership teams apart
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 25 September 2007 Posted 25 September 2007 Yet a team of Porters would rip premiership teams apart Apparently, but you would need different wingers as Porter isn't a winger
brez Posted 25 September 2007 Posted 25 September 2007 Lets start supporting the reserves then! Exactly what I said in another thread here
Thracian Posted 25 September 2007 Posted 25 September 2007 Yeah but Porter never beats anyone or plays balls of any quality. So he's worth a go over our resident pisshead. What a constant inspiration you are. Are you the same with your own cricket team-mates? Cos you wouldn't last five minutes in a dressing room of mine.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 25 September 2007 Posted 25 September 2007 What a constant inspiration you are. Are you the same with your own cricket team-mates? Cos you wouldn't last five minutes in a dressing room of mine. You have to realise not everyone sees this forum as an alternate universe where they are manager of Leicester City Football Club. Some of us just use it to vent our anger after pathetic performances such as Levi's against QPR or Sheehan's against Charlton, especially when we've been reading about how wonderful they are for the previous two years.

kaebifan Posted 25 September 2007 Posted 25 September 2007 Kaebi should be in the first team!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by the way how did ferreira play?
Thracian Posted 25 September 2007 Posted 25 September 2007 Kaebi should be in the first team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!by the way how did ferreira play? Hamstring injury by the look of things. Subbed off just before half-time.
Ric Flair Posted 25 September 2007 Posted 25 September 2007 Kaebi was immense last night, I fail to see how he hasn't featured more for the first team. You could see at times that the opposition were scared when he either got the ball or was on the prowl for it. He can time a tackle exceptionally well, it's just that he prefers to tackle further up the pitch than most right backs do. If the club are worried that he'll leave the team too exposed at right back, then don't play him at right back. Play him at right wing, or if they don't fancy him there then play him behind the strikers where's he's played for his previous club. We need some creativity in the team, it's getting desperate. I've heard that Ferreira's injury isn't serious and they took him off as a precaution. He looked quality in patches last night, but he is lacking in fitness and that will be a reason why he's not featured in the first team yet. I was very impressed with King and Sappleton last night, both looked fearless and let's hope they continue to push on.
