Bellend Sebastian Posted 10 October 2007 Posted 10 October 2007 A decent review here The one on the BBC site isn't very good, but seems to be by someone who hasn't listened to it properly. I do wish they'd just release it on CD though, the clever buggers

Finchy Posted 10 October 2007 Posted 10 October 2007 im disappointed tbh, i much prefer the earlier albums (before Kid A), every one since OK Computer has been a bit too experimental for me, i wish they would release just a pure rock album like Pablo Honey again that was a class album.
The People's Hero Posted 10 October 2007 Posted 10 October 2007 I do enjoy a bit of Pablo Honey from time to time to be fair. But it's certainly no OK Computer or The Bends.
Flynny Posted 10 October 2007 Posted 10 October 2007 As far as people who don't like Kid A or anything after, the new album is still a bit "experimental" (I really hate that word actually) but nowhere near the likes of those albums. It's like something between Amnesiac and The Bends, I'd say. The guitar's mellower than on their more conventional albums, but its definitely there. The rhythm section is better than on any of their albums to date, which compensates for that. It's much better than Hail to the Thief and not a mess like that album is. It's quite serene but it sounds huge in places. In fact if they'd made this after OK Computer and then made Amnesiac and then made Kid A, that'd have made a hell of a lot more sense. If you're undecided have a look for "The Reckoner" and see what you think of that.
The People's Hero Posted 10 October 2007 Posted 10 October 2007 I'm going to get it. The only Radiohead album I've not enjoyed is Kid A. I thought that was shit - but it's obvious I just don't get it - like you say, it's subjective.

Kid A wasn't the easiest of listens and I never really got into it, but I know a lot of people that did and a few that reckon it's their favourite Radiohead album. At the same time I can understand from their point of view why they do deviate so much from what they used to do, because at least it must be interesting for them. The alternative is to churn out slightly different variations on the same theme every couple of years like Oasis do, who for years have just sounded like they can't be arsed anymore
Jay Posted 10 October 2007 Posted 10 October 2007 now I am what some might call a take it or leave it sort of Radiohead fan but I must say I think this is a brilliant sounding album!! I'm very impressed
MC Prussian Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 Nothing against the quality and sound of the album - I think they've done a very good job -, but only 7 songs is a bit meagre for a start. And yes, I paid for it.
coale39 Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 You can download it here. Awesome album. Easily one of there best, second only to OK computer IMO.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 Probably my second favourite album of their on first listen. In time may even eclipse The Bends.
MC Prussian Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 What? There's 10. I got 15 Step Bodysnatchers Nude Weird Fishes/Arpeggi All I Need Faust Arp Reckoner upon downloading and unzipping the file I received... Well, seems like I got screwed by the system, then. *E-Mail to the site owners on the way*
Flynny Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 Thats the first 7. You're missing House of Cards, Jigsaw Falling Into Place, and Videotape.
MC Prussian Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 Thats the first 7. You're missing House of Cards, Jigsaw Falling Into Place, and Videotape. I just found the last three in my ZIP file. For some reason, they must've slipped through the net while I was transferring the files to my iTunes folder... Phew.
MC Prussian Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 And has anyone got a "In Rainbows" CD cover large enough so I can use it on iTunes? Size 500 x 500 and up, I think. Otherwise I get those white bars on the sides.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 Hope it is more like Kid A than The Bends !!
Mark Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 The Bends is my favourite album by them by far.. I've listened the new album twice now but thought Nude was the only outstanding song on it, Videotape was a nice closer though.
Libertine Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 Hope it is more like Kid A than The Bends !! 'Tis I'd say. A bit.
Alexikokopops Posted 12 October 2007 Posted 12 October 2007 'Tis I'd say. A bit. Is that Jeff Buckley I spy in your avatar?
Bellend Sebastian Posted 12 October 2007 Posted 12 October 2007 Is it true that the files are only 160kbps? If so, that's well stingy - and a bit crap. That would put me off paying for it
Libertine Posted 12 October 2007 Posted 12 October 2007 Is that Jeff Buckley I spy in your avatar? Correct.
