Milky Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 YEEEEESSSS!!!! Brilliant! to come from 1-0 down, to 2-1 up away in Sri Lanka is fantastic. Great stuff lads.
Sparky Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 get in !!!! sri lanka trying to run sidebottom out after game finished
Milky Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 That should keep the boo boys on here quiet for a bit longer. It's funny how when we lose people pile in to abuse, yet when we win it's almost silent. ssshhhh.
Geo V Posted 8 October 2007 Posted 8 October 2007 KP fails again . Its getting so predictable so I will give it ago. If Sri Lanka win the next game to make it 2-2 and its goes to a decider, I will be backing him to top score with my hard earned cash as he only seems to raise his game when the spotlight is shining. Its great to see we have unearthed another player in Swann. Slowly slowly we seem to be finding players and soon enough we will have a strong all round side that can beat the Aussies who at the moment are a class apart. I still don't know why we have Bopora in if he isn't going to ball though. Wouldn't we be best suited in playing another specialist batter or decent batter who is great in the field if Bopara isnt going to ball?

It's funny how when we lose people pile in to abuse, yet when we win it's almost silent. ssshhhh. OK I am delighted we won and would have been on to say so but did not get the opportunity before now I will still have a go when we play as poorly , recklessly and without any semblance of pride as we did in the first game of this series. Our batting is still as brittle as a bag of crisps and the top 4 fail too often, putting it back onto the bowlers to their job as well as getting important runs under pressure. I totally agree with the comments made in this thread about Pietersen. Paul Collingwood seems a very pleasant guy and is a useful cricketer but is uninspiring as a captain and looks anxious and devoid of ideas under pressure most of the time when people should be looking to him for inspiration.
Milky Posted 10 October 2007 Posted 10 October 2007 Well we've bowled really well again today. Sri Lanka got 211-9. Our batting has been a bit dodgey at times, but hopefully they can pick up a historic series win.
Bert Posted 10 October 2007 Posted 10 October 2007 Be very goood if we win and to me very surprising considering our one-day game isn't as good as it should be.
Raj Posted 10 October 2007 Posted 10 October 2007 Am i right in saying if England win,it sets some sort of record for winning an overseas 1 day series???
surrifox Posted 10 October 2007 Author Posted 10 October 2007 haven't won a series in SL for 25 years apparently
Milky Posted 10 October 2007 Posted 10 October 2007 haven't won a series in SL for 25 years apparently That stat is a bit misleading though. How many times have we actually played in Sri Lanka during that time?
Raj Posted 10 October 2007 Posted 10 October 2007 That stat is a bit misleading though. How many times have we actually played in Sri Lanka during that time? 379 times......i think!!!
Milky Posted 10 October 2007 Posted 10 October 2007 379 times......i think!!! stop fudging the figures you figure fudger! 134-2 after 31. It's going well so far!
Milky Posted 10 October 2007 Posted 10 October 2007 What a brilliant win today, and a fantastic series victory! So that's series wins against India and now Sri Lanka in recent months. Who would've thought it. This is a young and inexperianced England side, so maybe a brighter ODI future? Here's hoping.
Geo V Posted 10 October 2007 Posted 10 October 2007 First overseas ODI victory in about 20 years?? Jeez I didnt realize we were that bad! Well done to the lads, especially the bowlers for doing so well in horrible bowling conditions. No Freddie, Tresco or any of the other big names who participated in the Ashes victories of 05 like Jones and Harmison but the lads did us proud.
