Joe. Posted 19 October 2007 Posted 19 October 2007 I would have thought Bolton could set their sights higher than Megson to be honest. Milan sounds very angry, Megson better put up a great media performance
Thracian Posted 19 October 2007 Posted 19 October 2007 http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Lates...1147038,00.html I totally sympathise with MM's determination to fend off Bolton. But, with his record, I do have to laugh when he talks about "loyalty" and "honouring commitments".
Thracian Posted 19 October 2007 Posted 19 October 2007 This is a strange statement to make. It reads like he hasn't spoken to Megson about it and is asking him to publicly reject it. Why wouldn't they have discussed this yesterday and made a joint statement? This implies to me that Megson hasn't said he doesn't want to talk to Bolton. By issuing this MM seems to be cutting Megson off before it goes any further. Could you have a crack at the McCann case too? Cos I reckon you're spot on with this one.
lookwhaticando Posted 19 October 2007 Posted 19 October 2007 But, with his record, I do have to laugh when he talks about "loyalty" and "honouring commitments". It was only a matter of time before someone picked up on that little snippet.
eaststandtom Posted 19 October 2007 Posted 19 October 2007 http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Lates...1147038,00.html this would be a turn up for the books!!!!
Smudge Posted 19 October 2007 Posted 19 October 2007 Could you have a crack at the McCann case too? Cos I reckon you're spot on with this one. I think I'll leave that to Chandler. The other thing that occurs to me is if I was Megson I would feel really pissed off at being warned like this in public.
Simi Posted 19 October 2007 Posted 19 October 2007 The worst thing for us is if he has a slight interest in the job. These things can disturb a lot around the club. I hope Megson is convincing in the media soon, if not, I fear we haven't heard the last of this.
Lord Nibblington Posted 19 October 2007 Posted 19 October 2007 Just out of interest, anyone know the Football League record for most managers in one season....
Stevosevic Posted 19 October 2007 Posted 19 October 2007 Just read my mates Mirror today and some interesting news about Megson. They are reporting that Megson has had talks with Bolton, he hasn't actually signed a contract with us yet and therefore can leave without us recieving compensation. Big news if true!

It's been said by a few people, scary thought really. But then again it wouldn't hurt us as much as if MM weren't here

Jonbluefox9 Posted 19 October 2007 Posted 19 October 2007 I wouldn't blame Megson for wanting to leave us for Bolton as they're Premiership side and he wasn't welcomed when he first arrived here. There's no such thing as loyalty in football now, managers have to do what's best for themselves because this time next month they could be out of work anyway. It would be ironic if, having partially won over some of his critics, Megson moves on to arguably better things.
Finn Claw Posted 19 October 2007 Posted 19 October 2007 MM talking about loyality given the amount of managers he has sacked - what a joke. Though I suppose when courting a new lady, who intially you are excited by after a few dates it is often the case that you realsie you have nothing in common. What a rubbish analogy. Claw
lookwhaticando Posted 19 October 2007 Posted 19 October 2007 Battle against relegation to the Championship... or attempt to manage promotion from it? Saving Bolton should be no mean achievement when you consider where they've been in the last 4 years - it's not like they've been awful for the last few years. Promoting Leicester on the other hand should probably be the bigger achievement. We've been cack for years now. Well, that's my theory anyway. But in reality, it's management at the top level... so the Bolton job's a bigger one, and Megson would be silly not to consider it if the job was offered.
Thracian Posted 19 October 2007 Posted 19 October 2007 If Leicester City lose their manager without compensation because he hasn't signed a contract we'll be a laughing stock. The club that lost its manager because it hadn't really got one. And if it's true Megson's not signed a contract you'd have to wonder why. Did MM really not know or did both parties or one party prefer to hedge their bets and see how things developed? Also I'd wonder how the situation both concerning Bolton and about Megson's contract might affect the mind of any potential loan signings.

What a rubbish analogy. Claw I know, slightly hypocritical. We were loyal we didnt want Allen to go when he was here, MM needs to show loyalty now or the fans just won't trust him.
lookwhaticando Posted 19 October 2007 Posted 19 October 2007 The comment Riccardo Flairvoyant made about this being a roller-coaster of a time is ringing ever more true with every passing week.
Flynny Posted 19 October 2007 Posted 19 October 2007 Megson'd suit Bolton. No problem scoring goals but they need to tighten up at the back big time. Really don't see him getting the job, though. I'd like to see a biggish club give Aidy Boothroyd a shot. If he got the job it'd be interesting.

This made me giggle too!! MM talking about loyalty - how many managers has he been through for not just Leicester but throughout his various clubs?? This might be a bit of an attempt at some clever psychology on MM's part by making a statement that a Premier league club have come in for your manager. Especially when there are many fans that have not warmed to Megson but by making a statement that he is in demand might trigger a defensive reaction by these fans that he is our manager and Bolton can bugger off. I doubt there will be much of a reaction from Megson as Leicester gave him a chance after a long period out of the game when no one would employ him - I guess this is where MM is testing Megson's loyalty to the club. What is eye opening is that Megson only had a year contract with the option of 2 more years - MM clearly didnt think initially he was that good or he would have given him 3 years outright!!!

But he'll be expensive to lift from Watford... he signed a new contract when they got relegated, did he not? A new four year deal or something... expanded terms and all that... he won't be cheap.

Shit I can't shake the feeling that Megson would actually be a success at Bolton. I didn't want him when we first got him but he's done okay and if we have to start over for a third time we can forget any dreams of sneaking a play-off place.
