Mandaric Statement - Bolton approach Megson

Recommended Posts

I hope he goes, would be great and maybe a little compo as well.

Honestly, I can't believe the attitude of some of our fans. What do you think we'll do with the compo, possibly pay it to another club for their manager?! What we need is some stability. GM can give us that. Since he's been here I've seen an improvement in results and performances - we look solid now, at least that's something to build on. Sure he's ex-F*rest and not the most exciting, but hopefully with a couple of good signings (something he's done before) in January we can start to move forward.

I personally will be very disappointed if he goes.

This is a strange statement to make. It reads like he hasn't spoken to Megson about it and is asking him to publicly reject it.

Why wouldn't they have discussed this yesterday and made a joint statement? This implies to me that Megson hasn't said he doesn't want to talk to Bolton. By issuing this MM seems to be cutting Megson off before it goes any further.

Most of his statements are strange if you get past the headline :D

Why didn't Bolton Chairman Ask for Megson, before Mandaric appointed him, and before they appointed Lee.

I think Chris Kamara will be on the case soon! :D

From Sky

Steve Bruce has confirmed to Sky Sports News that Birmingham have rejected an approach from Bolton for his services.

The Blues refused permission for The Trotters to discuss their vacant managerial post with the former Manchester United defender.

Bruce has emerged as Bolton's number one target to replace Sammy Lee, who departed The Reebok Stadium by mutual consent on Wednesday.

Paul Jewell is one of the favourites for the position, while Adrian Boothroyd and John Collins are other names in the frame.

But Bruce appears to be Bolton's first choice, although they have failed in their attempts to lure him away from St Andrews.

Flattered

"It's flattering," Bruce told Sky Sports News. "My first reaction was that they've seen the type of job I've done and would like permission to speak to me.

"That hasn't been granted so I'll accept that."

Future

Bruce's future at Birmingham is uncertain after Carson Yeung decided not to approve a contract he agreed with the current board in May.

The ex-Crystal Palace manager has 20 months to run on his current deal and has previously stated a desire to stay with Birmingham long-term.

"I've made feeling perfectly plain of what I'd like to do but until I have a meeting with the prospective new owners then I don't envisage anything will change," he said.

"We've had little bits of dialogue. I'm not one for emails, messages, faxes or whatever, I would like to meet with the prospective new owners face-to-face and have a conversation with them and then we'll all know which way were going to go.

"There's talk that it might happen this weekend, we'll see what develops over the next 24-48 hours.

"It is difficult, I understand, the prospective new owners are in Hong Kong, they might be busy, so I just have to be patient and wait for the opportunity to speak to them face-to-face."

I would swap him for Lee, he's got pedigree and I like the little headset thingy he uses, makes him look PRO!!!! Nah keep Megson, Bolton should be aiming higher anyway. If Megson gets us near playoffs by end of season then maybe then, this story would begin to make sense to me! Football eh!?!

It's not unusual, it happened during MON's time here, and he wasn't happy about it at all!

Hold on, on BBC site it says they have asked for permission to speak to Chris Coleman, Steve Bruce and Paul Jewell.

They want bloody everyone! Isn't this due a Chris Kamara comment?

Having read the statement again, there's a lot of anger shown in it from Mandaric. Makes you wonder whether Gary has had sneaky talks with Bolton already.

Meggers for England!

Yeh exactly, Megson is by far the most talented manager around at moment. No but seriously Mourinho for England plzzzz and we'll keep the Ginger version!

I love the pharse in the official statement "I have worked tirelessly to bring stability to this club"

If four managers in less than 6 months is stability I can't imagine what rocky times would look like.

Really, you couldn't make it up with this bloke and even more pathetically, we all soak it up without question.

This whole thing is gonna end in tears I'm a telling ya. If I was Megson I'd get the next cab to Bolton. If he loses to Blackpool, doesn't sign 37 year old has beens or upsets the cleaner he'll be sacked anyway.

Oh my god  I actually can not believe it. We need some stability. Clubs who get success are more often than not one's who have had the same manager for a decent period of time. Gary has made a half decent start and as I said last week in another thread I feel he is starting to talk sense and could do well. Duck off Bolton.

If he did wanan go there would be no point keeping him by force, if that was the case they should get a nice tidy bit of compo and then spend that on Dowie!

Yup, that's what I read too especially this

"I am a great believer in loyalty, trust and integrity. Gary made a commitment to this football club, the supporters and myself and I fully expect him to honour that commitment."

Oh God, how long will it be before someone puts up a manager's poll?

I bet there's been no approach and it's all just an MM tactic to make GM popular! ;):D

I'm sure Gartside will be out putting the record straight if that is the case.

I have suddenly got the rush of the rollercoaster on it's descent, buckle up.

We shouldn't stand in the way of a manager moving onto a Premier League club if he wants to manage at the highest level. If Bolton are prepared to give us adequate compensation for his loss, I am more than willing to drive Megson up there myself.

I always thought Phil Gartside was a twat. Unbelievable approach.

check out the Megson wanted by Bolton thread in transfer talk :pinch:

megson only has a 1 year contract so compensation for them wont be a problem.

But it would be sluttery of the highest degree of megson to jump ship after we gave him another door back into football.

Don't agree with that, for all Megson knows he could lose next few games and be sacked by MM and then struggle to get another job again! If I started a job then instantly got offered a better one, then I'm pretty sure I would take it. Hell yeh I would feel dam guilty but you gotta look after no.1 in life because you can't expect others to. Similar to players, If a Prem team comes in then I can fully understand and although wouldn't be over-joyed, wouldn't stand in their way! I actually don't think there's any real chance he will be appointed so not too worried but fair play to him if he lands it.
