Mandaric Statement - Bolton approach Megson

Following widespread speculation in the media regarding Bolton Wanderers' interest in our manager Gary Megson I can confirm that the Premier League club approached us early yesterday morning seeking official permission to speak to Gary. That approach has been completely rejected.

Such interest and continuing media speculation has inevitably had an unsettling influence and is neither invited or welcome.

I have worked tirelessly to bring stability to this club and showed immense faith in Gary to bring him here after a sustained period out of the game. While interest from a Premier League club appears flattering and vindicates my decision to bring Gary to the Walkers Stadium he remains an integral part of my plans to bring top flight football back to this club.

I am a great believer in loyalty, trust and integrity. Gary made a commitment to this football club, the supporters and myself and I fully expect him to honour that commitment.

I therefore have no doubts in my own mind that Gary will reiterate his commitment when he talks publicly in the next 48 hours.

It is also important to point out that contrary to claims today Gary Megson has not spoken to Bolton Wanderers and furthermore is bound by a legally binding contract at Leicester City Football Club.

OMG. Bolton are in Europe and they want Ginger Mourinho. haha what is the world coming to.

Glad we've kept him, but this is really surprising.

It's funny how nobody wanted Megson here, but as soon as someone else comes for him, our fans will have a sudden u-turn! lol

Trouble is now, Megson is not going to be happy here knowing that Bolton want him.

Just as things were going alright aswell! We need to offer him a new contract to keep him happy

I doubt that very much. Megson has had his fingers burnt at Forest, he was out of the game for 18 months. We threw him a lifeline and he doesn't strike me as the sort of man to take a huge gamble by leaving us after a month to go to Bolton. Should he then get the boot at Bolton, he'd probably not get another club again considering the length of time it took for us to come in for him.

I'm amazed Gartside wants Megson, I wonder whether he'd have wanted him had he been out of work still? Megson's had a fairly steady start here and perhaps Gartside has been impressed with how he's handled a club and team that's been in disarray, but it's bizarre to say the least.

WOW, cant believe there is truth in this afterall!!!!! Crazy...I guess it shows the real shortage of managers around at moment or have we got a real Gem of a Manager! Hmmm, first one I think...

I wonder what GM is feeling now? One minute a former chairman is apparently hindering him from getting jobs by badmouthing him, then he hits that jackpot with us although being in training with the likes of Elvis must make him think he is in the conference and then bang, would you like to go and manage Anelka, Nolan and Diouf?! It would be ironic if he just left wouldn't it? Lets hope he has served his probation lol

God when you put it like that, I think he could be off. Although if he failed badly there, which I see a high chance of as since Alladyce departure, Bolton been in free-fall, then could really set him back, i.e next job league 1 or 2. But then again how many chances will he get to manage in prem again if he doesn't succeed with us....hmm could be interesting. i'm still shocked that Megson would be one of the favourites, let alone in the running for such a job at this time....weird!

Amazing... and there was me thinking that it was all a load of rubbish!!!

Well I hope he stays cause he seems to have sorted out a club that has been in some disarray since Allen came/left!

I'm not Gary's biggest fan, but if he stays then i will be pleased. When we got him, i was disappointed, really disappointed, but now we got him, and now he's signed a contract with us, everyone should really expect him to stay. He's not had a bad start in all fairness.

So, Fcuk Off Bolton.

This is a strange statement to make. It reads like he hasn't spoken to Megson about it and is asking him to publicly reject it.

Why wouldn't they have discussed this yesterday and made a joint statement? This implies to me that Megson hasn't said he doesn't want to talk to Bolton. By issuing this MM seems to be cutting Megson off before it goes any further.
