Spee-d Posted 3 November 2007 Posted 3 November 2007 Should be a cracking fight. I think Calzaghe will edge it.
Jay Posted 3 November 2007 Posted 3 November 2007 Should be a cracking fight. I think Calzaghe will edge it. Lets hope so although after watching his last few fights on ITV bit gutted this on Setanta
Head Honcho Posted 3 November 2007 Posted 3 November 2007 Three hours before the fight starts and still debating whether to go or not We've all come back to mine for a few sherbets and got taxi's booked for midnight but tbh none of us can be bothered PS Me and me mate got £10 on Calzaghe in the first at 66/1

stez Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 played! i was worried in a few rounds though, it's awful when you've only got the radio and can't see what's happening.
Finnegan Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 You just can't see him losing at the moment. Class. Love to see him slap up one more mouthy yank before he goes, and be nice if he actually fights (and wins) over the pond. What is it, 44 fights, only two out of the UK and they were only as far as Western Europe? Shame.

Shame. the word last night was; that he'd go up to light heavyweight (which he more or less confirmed, although his dad was less sure!) and probably against clinton woods, frank warren seemed to think that would be at the millennium stadium too.
David O'Leary Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 Calzaghe in extra time ...............sorry I know absolutely nothing about boxing
Raj Posted 5 November 2007 Posted 5 November 2007 Would be a great fight if Bernard Hopkins and Joe got it on at Light Heavy. Joe needs a couple of prolific names on his win list before he hangs up his gloves. IF he fought and beat Hopkins THAT would really make him one of the post war greats.
Manwell Pablo Posted 5 November 2007 Posted 5 November 2007 Three hours before the fight starts and still debating whether to go or not We've all come back to mine for a few sherbets and got taxi's booked for midnight but tbh none of us can be bothered PS Me and me mate got £10 on Calzaghe in the first at 66/1 I made a tenner on this fight, pretty happy with that, some daft git behind thought he was some sort of boxing pundit, and declared that Kessler was going to go down in the next round withouth a doubt, (think it was the fifth) to which I replied "I bet you a tenner he doesn't" Bet taken, tenner won. Muppet.

Kelly Pavlik (if he changes division) would be the biggest head I reckon.

I don't think Calzaghe has anything to prove in terms of his ability, really. He's an exceptional boxer who's beaten everyone put before him in his division. People who know boxing know Calzaghe is an immense fighter. But who in the world, outside of boxing, has heard of Kelly Pavlik? Calzaghe could really do with a B-Hop before he quits. Who cares if Hopkins' excuse makers are all over it about his age? It's a big, big scalp.

I think his age will play a part however even at his age he's still considered one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world. I think in his prime, at light heavy weight he'd bury Calzaghe. These days however, My money would be on Joe. He's said he wants to fight him anyway, so looks like it could be on, don't quite the comments Hopkins made about Joe having never faced a big America opponent, Jeff Lacy anyone?

Jeff Lacy is nowhere in Bernard Hopkins' league. Hopkins has beaten the likes of De la Hoya and Winky Wright(Who are Legends themselves) He is undoubtedly one of the all time greats. Calzaghe needs one of these 'Big' names before he retires to get the recognition he deserves. Hopkins maybe getting on abit but he will still give Joey a good fight.

I didn't say he was, I merely said he was a high profile American fighter with an excellent record.
Dr The Singh Posted 6 November 2007 Posted 6 November 2007 Calzaghe has come to the 'big arena' too late in his career, unfortunately he will be forgotten too quick!!!
