Milky Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 Has he lived under a rock all his life? I found it staggering he'd never heard of him. How is that possible!? Still in shock actually. He had to go and look him up on Wikipedia after copping some stick. Amazing.
Webbo Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 Who? Someone was going to say it sooner or later.
Joe. Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 Wow. That's actually quite disturbing. Has he lived on a remote island for all his life with no access to any sort of media?
Milky Posted 17 November 2007 Author Posted 17 November 2007 After looking him up on Wikipedia, he claimed he had heard of Oasis. However, he couldn't give the name of any songs, or even sing or hum a single line. Further ripping commenced.

Milky Posted 17 November 2007 Author Posted 17 November 2007 I actually reckon he'll probably be the only 20 year old in the country not to know those things. It's not the first time, and it won't be the last. He knows absolutely nothing about popular culture. Just think about everything he's missed out on. Quite a sad thought really. His dads in his 80's, so perhaps it's been a strange up bringing.

MC Prussian Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 Your friend is my friend. He has guts. And taste.
purpleronnie Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 He didn't miss much just tell him to listen to the Beatles....same thing but original.
ASH17LCFC Posted 18 November 2007 Posted 18 November 2007 He didn't miss much just tell him to listen to the Beatles....same thing but original. Oasis are way better then The Beatles. The Beatles are good but they made music for people in the 60's and also Oasis made 2 of the best albums ever made. Noel Gallagher is the biggest legend in music today and there'll never be another Liam Gallagher.

Micky Ruddle Posted 18 November 2007 Posted 18 November 2007 The Beatles made good music. George Harrison Ringo Starr Paul McCartney and the one my father always went on about...John Lennon. Not the kind of music i listen to, but whenever the old man plays em, it's always good to hear em

Oasis are the status quo of the 90's a bunch of one trick ponies still playing the same 3chords they did 10 years ago you are seriously deluded if you think that in 40 years time people will look back at Oasis with the same respect that they do the Beatles today!!! Each member of The Beatles was a talented musician and they produced many different solo albums, side projects and even Beatles albums that sounded totally different to the last one they weren't afraid to take risks where as Oasis still have the same tune and choruses they have always used. I would also hazard a guess that The Beatles STILL sell more records worldwide every year on albums that were released over 30 years ago than Oasis do today!! you can never claim to be bigger than The Beatles when you fell flat on your arse trying to crack America for the record I am not a fan of The Beatles but appreciate what they did and the effect they have had on music worldwide

'They made music for people in the 60's'?! WTF is that meant to mean?! I'm not their biggest fan but they were a great band. Were they meant to have the year 2007 in their thoughts as they wrote Hey Jude or Yesterday?! And Oasis have been a very average band for the last 10 years imo. (although thats better than The Beatles i'm sure you'll point out!)
The Reverend Posted 18 November 2007 Posted 18 November 2007 no, seriously... so, so sad. Always get one response like this. Instead of mocking, surely it would be better to put across a good argument? Now, i neither agree nor disagree with champagne supernova. But i will say that both these bands are fantastic in their own right. The Beatles were huge, there will never, ever, be a band as big as The Beatles in the future. Fact.

Even Ringo?
Jay Posted 18 November 2007 Posted 18 November 2007 Even Ringo? talented and side project that Thomas the Tank Engine stuff was top quality!!
ASH17LCFC Posted 18 November 2007 Posted 18 November 2007 My opinion is Oasis are better then the Beatles. For me definitely maybe is the greatest debut ever of all time. Every song is awesome but Slide Away, Live Forever, Rock 'n' Roll Star and Cigarettes & Alcohol are unbelievable songs. (What's the Story) Morning Glory? is probally the best ever of the album 90's by far and maybe the greatest album ever made. The only songs on there what are average are Hey Now and She's Electric. The rest are masterpieces in there own right. Cast No Shadow - Awesome song only Noel could write a belter like this. Champagne Supernova- Noel proving why he is the best musican in the world here. Even got big in america this song did. Some Might Say - Somes up oasis and them at there best. and then you got the likes Wonderwall, Don't look back in anger and Roll with it. What where all massive hits and still are 3 of the biggest songs ever made. 96 was the year Oasis where the kings of music and Knebworth proved it. No band in the world would had got 2.5 million applying to buy tickets. The Masterplan album a album full of B-sides is again one of my favourite ever albums. Every track on it is something speical. The beatles a band what did it in the 60's and fair play to them, they made cheesey pop songs and back then what people where into. The beatles though in my opinion are not better then oasis. Oasis would be better to see live then the Beatles. Come on Rock and Roll star or Hey jude ??? Morning glory or Let it be ?? Oasis are the best band in the world today. No other band has came close to topping what they did and even today Oasis can sell out anywhere in the world and get their singles or albums straight in at number 1.

Milky Posted 18 November 2007 Author Posted 18 November 2007 just out of intrest, are they religious in any way? from a religious family? He's from a religious family yes, though he doesn't seem that into the whole thing. As an Atheist, i'm constantly trying to force a discussion on religious issues, but of course he has no anwers! I tell him to just make something up like the rest.
