Bryn Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 Got it on good authority that Wes Hoolahan is available for transfer in January for £750,000+ after trying to renegotiate a new contract that he'd agreed to sign at the last minute. Sorry I can't offer a better source so take this news with caution, I'll try and dig some more info out... but he'd be a great signing for us.
Manwell Pablo Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 Sorry I can't offer a better source so take this news with caution, I'll try and dig some more info out... but he'd be a great signing for us. He would be if we readapted 4-4-2, otherwise he'd be about as much use a chochlate teapot.
Bryn Posted 20 November 2007 Author Posted 20 November 2007 He would be if we readapted 4-4-2, otherwise he'd be about as much use a chochlate teapot. True enough, hopefully he'd be the catalyst to a return to 4-4-2. Here's a more concrete article which suggests he may be available, if not specifically to us. Blades target HoolahanSHEFFIELD United are being linked with a £500,000 move for Wes Hoolahan. It is no secret that a number of clubs have been watching the Irish winger in the early part of the season. He has impressed several scouts, who have compiled glowing dossiers about the 25-year-old and alerted a number of top Championship clubs. And according to reports in Sheffield, Bryan Robson is preparing to test Pool's resolve to keep their star man by making a half-million pound offer when the transfer window reopens in January. Hoolahan is tied to Pool after signing a two-year deal with the club following his summer move from Livingston, which was eventually ratified by FIFA after a lengthy legal wrangle with the Scottish club. And after a string of impressive early season performances, Hoolahan has ended the debate about whether he could make the step up and cope at Championship level. His stock has risen further after he was selected to play for the Republic of Ireland in a B international. That game takes pl ace against a Scotland second string next Tuesday. Grayson won't be happy that other clubs are making attempts to get their hands on his star player – but he won't be surprised. "Wes is a quality player and if you are doing well in a team then you are bound to catch the attention of others," said the manager in a recent interview. "But as a club we are fortunate that we are in the black and we don't have to sell our best players." However, Grayson has also admitted that every player has his price – and it will be interesting to see the club's response if a big money bid for Hoolahan does materialise in the New Year. The Dublin-born player scored 10 goals last season and has hit another three this campaign. However, it is his silky skill on the ball which has held the attention of other clubs and there is no doubt that offers are almost certain to come in during January. http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/sports-n...ahan.3480586.jp

Sooper Steve's shin Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 Tentative, but I dreamt last night that we had signed Wes Hoolahan. Quite a vivid dream and odd because I don't think I've read anything recent about him. If it turns out to happen in January then I have obviously got some sort of mystical powers. If not, I just have no life and rubbish dreams.

dpjfox Posted 27 December 2007 Posted 27 December 2007 Brian Robson has just been on SSN talking about Hoolahaan, says he has had him watched and is soon out of contract, we should move in there. Ilive in Blackpool and every fan raves about him. Would solve one of our problem positions, excite the fans (hes certainly good to watch) and probably send Blackpool down (which would win me money!).

LCFC2007 Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 Wolves, Sheffield United , Crystal Palace, Ipswich, Leicester, West Brom and Norwich are all after Blackpool striker Wes Hoolahan. What do you think of Wes? http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/03012008/58/...g-s-ransom.html
LCFC2007 Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 is he a striker come left back?????! It says on his profile that he is a midfielder.
MikeyT Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 I thought he was a Centre Mid! Never seen him play either. Any good? I'm presuming he must be ok if all those teams are after him!
mat_j101 Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 Im told by a mate he is a winger mainly, but can play centre mid too. Ive never really seen him/ heard much about him tbh.
