Cardiff Player Ratings

Fulop - 7 - An assured performance. Impeccable and calm.

Stearman - 7 - As with many players on the pitch, the quality of the passing wasn't always there, but ever willing to get forward, solid at the back (Did anyone here even notice Capaldi?). Better than some performances from him.

Mattock - 7 - Nothing wrong with his display and a fine strike in the first half. Tactical decision to replace him worked well for me, but no complaints with our Joe.

Kisnorbo - 7 - Rock solid.

McAuley - 7 - Rock solid, and a calming presence at the back. Occasional dithering on the ball balanced out by his calming presence and no nonsense attitude to keeping clean sheets.

Newton - 6 - Decent tracking back and some good passing in the centre but feeble going forward. Was glad to see him replaced.

Sheehan - 8 - As the commentators said, his delivery is at times top quality. Some naive defending once or twice when placed at left back but was the star man today for me. Almost everything went through him.

Wesolowski - 6 - Not his best game. Passing was wayward and lacked his usual energy. Tackling was reasonable. Commentator said he had a tight hamstring, hence his removal. This explains a lot. He'll be fine next match.

Clemence - 7 - A calming presence in midfield. Passing was at times sub par but that seemed to be the flavour of the game.

Hume - 7 - Worked hard and always a nuisance. At times quite effective but looks a little short of match fpractice somehow. Has been in and out of the team and position which explains it for me.

Fryatt - 7 - Worked hard, often with poor service. Shame he missed that header late on, probably deserved a goal today.

Subs

Hayes - 7 - Effective. Looked dangerous, worked hard. His first cross was superb. Potential is there.

Chambers - 7 - Some neat play, decent touches, shame to not see him crack a shot off but he did good for me, was active in the second half good play

King - 8 - The other star man. We were infinitely better with him on. Won the ball and used it perfectly, which was hugely missing from the game before then.

Holloway - Can't be blamed for dropping two points. Intelligent substituions and starting lineup was justifiable. A solid 7, like most of his team.

pretty much, just lots of 7's. not too sure about King's 8 though - are you Thracian's wife?

Weso and in particular Clem were good but slid in a bit too much imo. Sheehan our MOM for some super corners and a solid all round display.

Liked how ollie made subs with plenty of time for an impact. Kasper S won Cardiff 1 point i feel.

He was the basis of our second half rampage. Deep lying, breaking up Cardiff's counters and playing the ball well. It'd had been needed all game.

Very harsh IMHO.....

5 is a low score for players that did very little wrong.....

Fulop did all that was asked of him (not perfect but enough),

Mattock wasn't exceptional but he did ok,

same with Newton he did his bit (clearly not one for heading the ball),

King came on as a young lad and wasn't outclassed

:dunno::dunno:

maybe, it may be because i have him down more as an attacking mdfielder and was hoping he'd be breaking into the oppositions box which is what i felt we were missing. not saying he played badly - he just seemed to slot in fine without any impact to me - which is no disgrace.

King did knock the ball around with some assurance but was no better than Weso.

We still do seem to lack the abilty create chances from open play but Cardiff were incredibly deep for most of the second half. Happy with a point after 70 minutes me thinks.

I'd actually agree with Sheehan mom (much as it pains me) but only beacuse we had so many corners from our right that he could swing in. Unlike the commentators I wasn't to happy with the ones that Schmeichal had to bundle away, too close to him. The corner for Fryatts header was pin perfect though, and he did manage to actually skin someone and stick a great ball in from open play in the first half, which left me open jawed. Sean Newtons attempted header of said ball was terrible though.

Everyone played pretty well and did there job but the problems are still there, we're hitting fewer long balls to the front two, but we're still hitting them, Kisnorbo and McAuley are improving in knocking the ball about but not enough, were making more chances but still not enough to score.

No offense to Ashley Chambers as he did do ok but the sooner we have Collins John back up front with Campbell and Fryatt fighting for the second strikers place with Hume out on the right the better.

Fulop 7

Stearmen 7

Mattock 7

Kisnorbo 6 Both centre backs were defensively solid but their choice of hoof over a simple pass let them down

Mccauley 6

Newton 6

Wesolowski 6

Clemence 6.5 Expected more of a commanding performance from the experience man but he is returning from injury and getting to full match fitness will get better

Sheehan 7.5 crossing outstanding!

Hume 6

Fryatt 6.5 good workrate again choice of passing or anticipation to get to the ball let him down

King 7.5 looks like he could be quite a intelligent player

Chambers 7 did not look out of place at all

Hayes 7 added more attacking impotence

Overall, like it was said by the sky team, we have a fair bit of raw talent in the squad and if matured properly could have half a decent side.

Fryatt = Gash

Oh shut up he had a tidy game and had a header cleared off the line. You've just got your little vendeta against him and it's getting boring.

Oh, from what I herd he was absloutley brilliant on Saturday.

I heard that Leicester City have drew 0 - 0 against Cardiff, very good result for the Foxes.

Better than crap Derby County, Ian Holloway seems a character. I think he'll become a fantasic Leicester City "But" let's not speak too soon.

Kind Regards

I wish i could show you my impression of him running for the ball. The way he gets knocked of the ball is laughable. I don't have any vendetta against him at all, he's probably a decent lad but his footballing abilities are a bit of a joke at this level mate. He'll be phased out as soon as DJ is fit.

Fryatt needs to know how to hold the ball up, inter link the midfield, tracking back, tackle, strength, one touch lay offs, shooting accuracy, pace. Fryatt is gash, end of.

He does actually need tog et a Gym, his technique is pretty tidy though, wasn't impressed with his wasted effort late on. Fairly average performance, would help if the ball was played to his feet though.

You so do have a vendeta against him mate! I don't even know where to start with that second paragraph, his one touch lay offs are pretty much superb, one of the better parts of his game, he links well, and I'd say his shooting accuracy is great, it's the power element he needs to work on. He normally works fairly hard trying to win the ball his tackling obviously isn't the best but then....he is a centre foward

He had a decent game tonigh :dunno: I'm sure I'm not the only one who will say that and I'm quite sure you'll be the only one offering such a daming POV.

Fryatt was virtually on his own upfront against one of the biggest centre half pairings in the league, and neither are slow either. Every other Championship striker would struggle against a team that have 11 men in there own penalty area. Fryatt is good when the ball is played to his feet and when the opposition are trying to play football instead of defending for 90 minutes. Cardiff play a disgusting style of football and it is painfull to watch it. I would be ashamed if i was a Cardiff fan.

Ok Pabs, let's not argue on this.

That's my opinion on him. It won't change. I'm prepared for the stick...

Fulop 7 - calm and confident, kicks were a bit crappy though

Stearman 6 - not great, tryed too many skills when it really doesnt work for him

Mcauley 7 - solid

Kisnorbo 7 - equally solid

Mattock 5 - didnt see much of the ball, when he did he screwed it up, understandibly substituted

Newton 5 - overall not a great game for him, didnt succeed with many passes

Clemence 6 - same os newton - sloppy

Wesolowski 7 - tried hard and played well

Sheehan 9 - citys best player by a mile, perfect deliverys, no mistakes and great effort - would have been 10/10 if he scored that header in the last couple of minutes

Fryatt 5 1/2 - didnt try hard, didnt look as if he wanted to play today, missed a couple of opportunities

Hume 6 1/2 - he had a go , well played but couldnt really get involved

SUBS:

Hayes 6 - good running but didnt see enough of the ball

King 5 - had about 3 touches

Chambers 7 - proved himself a very good prospect for the future

Holloway - his record is still good but needs to sort out home form for city to have any chance of promotion.

Although i think Darren Purse is a thug, i thought he played very well tonight.
