foxchop Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 :laugh:Funniest thing I've read today. Why he looked sharp, put a couple of decent balls in when given the chance. If I was on the wing and not getting the ball I'd come inside for it. We just didn't use him enough. Hoofing the ball up to Hume's head for Cort to do bugger all with ain't good enough.
Finnegan Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Sappleton 2 (I said he wasn't ready for the first team and that comment was clearly justified today. Never threatened at all) What a load of shit. You were doing so well until you got to there. Don't get me wrong, I never once claimed he set the place alight, but that's total dross. But he received the ball, looked around, was strong, challenged in the air and generally layed it off. Nothing spectacular, at all, but he did his basics and tried a lot fooking harder than Cort.
The Stig Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 I certianly don't think Hayes was bad today, one of the best of a bad bunch, not spectacular but was anyone? Sappleton was also not great when he came on but I've seen a lot worse.
Joe. Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Why he looked sharp, put a couple of decent balls in when given the chance. If I was on the wing and not getting the ball I'd come inside for it. We just didn't use him enough. Hoofing the ball up to Hume's head for Cort to do bugger all with ain't good enough. We didn't use him because he wasn't there to be used. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a decent winger, but that's where he should be, on the wing. By coming inside too often Sheehan was left alone on the wing too often.
Thracian Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 What a load of shit. You're right - he was better than Cort and I've amended my mark to say so.
Finnegan Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 I liked Hayes, tbh. He's not a finished product, is he, not by a long shot. But he's enthusiastic, exciting, a great crosser of the ball and doesn't need to beat his man eighty times before getting a ball in. If he improves on this start, I can see him being a far more exciting prospect on the wing than Levi. That's just my opinion from two showings.
Joe. Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 I don't think you can knock Sappleton's performance too much to be honest. He's still only young, and today was his first competetive first team display. All I can say is he was a damn sight better than Cort. For what he received of the ball, he did the basics, held it up and then laid it off. He also won a few headers. So to be fair I thought he did alright.
Thracian Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Fulop - 6 - Possibly at fault for the goal.Stearman - 6 McAuley - 5, weak showing from both center backs, IMO. Kisnorbo - 5 Sheehan - 6, full backs looked the stronger of our defenders. Newton - 5, why does he keep starting? Clemence - 3, I'm sorry to do a BartonFox and knock everyone's hero - but why? What a shocking showing, today. Wasted nearly everything. King - 6.5, took his goal very well and never really put a foot out of line, that I can remember. But clearly not the inspirational creator Thrac makes out. Hayes - 6 - Shows signs of promise, will run with the ball, can put in a good cross and wins a lot of free kicks. Poor balance and his passing on the ground isn't great. Hume - 6, Headless chicken? Fair play to him, won far more in the air than a man about a foot taller than him, but terrible end product. Wasted the best chance of the match and probably could have started a 4+ - 0 rout, Soton were dire and lacking confidence until he missed. Cort - 4, What a waste of space. Doesn't do anything, no movement, no aerial ability. No anything. Only scores higher than Clemence because he had less of the ball to give away. Subs Sappleton - 6, looked really promising, I think. Achived more in the first five minutes of being on than Cort did all game. Let's not get unrealistic, it's his first senior appearance, right? Looked decent enough. Chambers - 5, didn't really get any service to make an impact. N Gotty - N/A Holloway - 6 1/2. Made the right decisions, I feel, thought Kissa upfront was an act of desperation. I like that he plays positive and makes changes early, where needed. Though I don't think he quite has full emotional control of the team so far. Today was a real slip in motivation / inspiration. Soton - 3. fooking woeful. One good move all match and they scored, we should be embarassed. King won't be an inspirational controller in that role and certainly not if he doesn't demand the ball from the centre-backs - and rollock them good and proper if he doesn't get it.
Simi Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Hayes 7 MOM put himself about a bit, needs more balls to his feet in the right areas will be a good player By 'putting himself about', I assume you mean being constantly out of position meaning we had no real outlet on the left hand side?
Mikey Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Fulop 5 Stearman 5 Kisnorbo 5 Mcauley 5 Sheehan 6 Newton 4 King 6.5 Clemence 4 Hayes 5 Hume 5 Cort 3 Subs: Sappleton 6 Chambers 6 N'Gotty N/A
Lovejoy Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Fulop 6- Did his job, not massively inspiring Stearman 5- Costly error for 2nd goal, otherwise not the worst player on the pitch by any means McAuley 5- Looked nervy, may have something to do with Kissa's performance Kisnorbo 2- Not really surprised, I've always said he's too relaxed, today he was found out Sheehan 5- Uninspiring Newton6- I thought he tried harder than usual, is just not very good King 5- Good goal, otherwise anonymous Clemence 3- Shocking! Hayes 4- won some free-kicks, otherwise very quiet Hume 3- One run, that was it. Abysmal! Cort 5- Considering he was playing injured, fair play to him. SUBS: Chambers 4- struggled to get into the game Sappleton 3- No impact at all N'Gotty - No time to impress
Hullfox Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Out -muscled and out-played by a better worldly wise team. I've said before that teams that do well in this division do the muscling. We are far too lightweight to succeed at the minute.
Thracian Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 I've said before that teams that do well in this division do the muscling. We are far too lightweight to succeed at the minute. We lost today because one of our muscle men didn't use his brain on two occasions, because our captain gave away a needless penalty and because an experienced international couldn't put the ball in an empty net. There was also the fact that Southampton were faster to the ball, controlled it quicker and better, passed it along the floor, moved for each other as a team should and had a manager who negated our strengths by having his team push high up the field so denying our players time and space.

Thracian Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Kisnorbo is not a muscle man. He's about as strong as we've got apart from N'Gotty.
Kilworthfox Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Fulop 6 Did nothing wrong just nothing exceptional today. Stearman 4 I read in the programme that he wants to be like Steve Walsh! McAuley 5 What happened? Kisnorbo 5 what happened? Sheehan 6 good deliveries from corners, but direct freekicks were bad today. did ok Newton 1 If he was a horse he would be dog food Waster has been will never be good enough Clemence 5 not the best display but there was effort in the performance, so not the worst out there today! King 6 average game good goal out of the blue best bit of the day Hayes 6 I liked it when he knocked the ball past there full back but no end product. Hume 6 I am always impressed by his desire to win even tho no-one seems to help him Cort 0 If he was a Horse he would have been shot this guy is a f***in JOKE! Subs Sappleton 6 Chambers 6 N Gotty 6 The best thing that could have come out of today will be that Olly will see that Newton and Cort will never have a place in Leicester's side as they are not up to our minimum expectations for skill or effort. End of!
maddog Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Fulop 5 At fault for their first goal Stearman 4 Awful again, hes no where, Wright Phillips did him constantly Kisnorbo 4 Awful, at fault for 1st goal, cant seem to clear it Mc Auely 5 ran it out of play Sheehan 6 got some good crosses in Newton 7 got forward well, good skill A Chambers 6 nothing special (sub) King 7.5 good goal then faded Clemence 2 Shocking needs to be dropped Hayes 6.5 good crosses N Gotty not enough time on (sub) Hume 4 hes just not that good a player, having a very poor season Cort Sappleton 5

Fez of Mahrez Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 I don't see much point in rating them all - it was an extremely poor display against possibly the worst side I've ever seen visit the Walkers in Southampton colours and that includes when we've beaten them comfortably. They were a nothing team, playing 4-5-1 with Stern John up front on his own. Appalling that we lost that. The experienced players were dreadful and the kids looked completely lost with the exception of Sheehan who was our best player by a distance. He is improving with every game and looked completely assured today both in defence and going forward. King is only getting good marks because of the goal (spectacular) and because Clemence had a shocker in comparison with his usual standards. King went for long periods totally out of the game and that's something you can't often say about Clemence and Wesolowski - but we often said it about players like Williams and Hughes. Whether it's managers instructions or just the player wanting to play it safe, he has to get forward because he's a good passer and we need him in more dangerous areas.

Yep King should be set free to play Southampton were not great but........ much better than us
Messi Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Hayes Played Good Today, Like To See More From Him Clemence Is S**T, He Has Been Nearly Every Game This Season & He Is Over-Rated

Jack Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Fulop 5 - Didn't look as confident in coming to collect balls as he usually does and a few poor kicks. Stearman 4 - Got murdered all afternoon down the wing, was made to look silly to often. McAuley 5 - Too many sloppy passes and he also didn't look his strong usual self. Kisnorbo 6 - Decent. Sheehan 7 - Linked well with Hayes and his set-peices are a real asset. Newton 3 - Why is he played week after week, he's simply not good enough. King 7 - Had a pretty good game and scored a beauty of a goal and you have to take into account he is still young aswell. Clemence 5 - Probably his worst performance in a Leicester shirt. Hayes 7 - Linked well with Sheehan. Also ran at players and put a number of good balls into the box. Hume 5 - Wasn't in the game at all and his first touch was poor again. Cort 4 - Didn't even looked bothered.
