Asha Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 I've never understood when people say 2 points a game - that's just twattish. Three for a win, one for a draw...where does two come in?
Brainy Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 2 pts on average? Over the course of the season it adds up.. although ours would usuallly be something like 1.3/1.4.
Raj Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 Well... it was Devon Malcolm. I said Big Dev Did you get to speak to him?? He always came across as a gentle sort of giant. Not a bad bowler too. Crap at Batting though!!!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 I said Big Dev Did you get to speak to him?? He always came across as a gentle sort of giant. Not a bad bowler too. Crap at Batting though!!! Nah. I was going to mention his 9-57 at The Oval but I couldn't remember whether it was against SA or WI.
Raj Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 Nah. I was going to mention his 9-57 at The Oval but I couldn't remember whether it was against SA or WI. He's a big lad. Im suprised he didnt look at you meanly and say "This is my taxi" Scarper!!!
Nationwider Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 Nah. I was going to mention his 9-57 at The Oval but I couldn't remember whether it was against SA or WI. After being hit by Alan Donald; "You guys are history..!" ---> takes 9-57.
DB11 Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 You're too optimistic. As if we'd win 10 games in a row at all.
Plymouth Pete Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 Dont worry, if you are relegated Ollie is used to Div one, there with Bristol Rovers and he got QPR up.
Zingari Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 Dont worry, if you are relegated Ollie is used to Div one, there with Bristol Rovers and he got QPR up. if we are relegated , ( quite a realistic probability ) holloway will be long gone
Aixelsyd Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 Play-offs are much TOOO optimistic But we serious have a very good chance of being Averagely Middle Table Honestly things just can't get any worse
Monk Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 Did someone say playoffs? Hahahahahaha Save this season. Thats all that matters. Don't get relegated. Keep Ollie and give him chance to build a team. We will not make the playoffs. End Of
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 Not a bad 'off topic' effort there, Fez.
Geo V Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 Good old Devon Malcolm. When we has wayward he made Harmison look accurate. We wont get relegated but we wont get near the play-offs either. If all things go well then Ollie will have cleared out some muck in January, bought his players and by the end of the season we would actually have a team that play with a system. Sadly, I still think Fulop would have decided not to stay on with us by then and we`ll have the headache of getting a decent keeper in. Anyway, this is my percentage breakdown of how it will all go Top Two 0% Play Offs 3% 7-12 20% 13-20 75% Relegated 2% If that doesnt tally up to 100% then blame former Tiger and England International Mr Ian Smith, my Maths teacher back in the day
Head Honcho Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 So what are the chances of us being relegated this season and what of the playoffs. This is based on the last 3 Championship seasons. The Average points needed to get in playoffs: 74-75 points The Average points needed to survive relegation: 46 points We currently have 22 points with 26 games to go. We need 24 points from those 26 games to possibly survive relegation, so 8 wins from 26 games will do. We need 52 points from those 26 games to possibly make the playoffs so exactly 2 points a game. I would say we are looking like we could get relegated and i don't hold much hope for us tonight, or at Hull or at Wolves in the next 3 matches. 2 points a game is possible but we have to win a lot of home games and the odd away matches. If we can get 40 points in the next 16 games we would have a great chance. But that would be 13 wins, 1 draw and 2 loses , to reduice the amonunt of points we would need in the last 10 games We need to go on a huge winning run. Lets start tonight. If we can chain 10 league wins in a row together we will have survived relegation and have a chance of promotion. Please please Leicester, gives us some hope of playoffs this season starting by winning today. Lets win these next 5 games, buy and sell in January and never stop winning Didn't we get promoted last time on 2 points a game? If so, we have no chance of repeating that form I'm not too worried about relegation, there are far too many teams down there playing as poorly as us. I'm not saying they are better teams but they just don't have the resources we do and we've been through it before-which helps
Head Honcho Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 I had thought of starting a thread along the same lines but found the prospect too depresssing.Although I'm not quite as pessimistic as you sound about the next three games, and am quite optimistic about the three after those, there's no doubt we need our best players fit, we need some effective organisation and we don't need another crisis of any sort. As it stands some of the teams around us are showing signs of improving while we seem to be flat. Of course the transfer window offers new hope but we have to land our targets (not so easy as we've found in the recent past) and other teams will also be improving their own squads so there's no guarantee it will be all roses come February. Team spirit, tactics, confidence will still be the most vital ingredients and I don't think Holloway will find that anywhere near as easy as he might think because, while new players will arrive, I fear that too many others will be washing around the sidelines feeling that they've been made the scapegoats. That only emphasises that transfers out will be as important as the transfers in come January. Thracian you cannot deny that even with our best players fit we are still a very poorly organised side The nucleus of this side has been together for about 2 or 3 years now and I don't think Ollie or any other manager has the ability to get this bunch of fvckwits to play any different-they have adopted a style of play that was alien to many of us(not now might I add ) and they have also gone through a number of managers. I personally believe that they turn up at Friar Lane every morning and leave non the wiser. I'm surprised Matt Allwright from rogue traders hasn't turned up at the lane yet!
Manwell Pablo Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 Nah. I was going to mention his 9-57 at The Oval but I couldn't remember whether it was against SA or WI. What time did you send me that message?? You did well to recognise him mate.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 What time did you send me that message??You did well to recognise him mate. About 1am?? I've had problems with a few of my texts now by the sounds of things. He finished his career at Northants so I saw him quite a lot just a few years back.

WetFlannel Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 Surely we cant get promoted now, in fact, i dont want to be promoted... sure the money and the glamour matches are there but from a personal note, i wouldnt want to be paying more money to watch us get thrashed every week and come straight back down (like Derby) We can barely compete in the championship so why would we be able to do it in the prem?
Daz.I Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 we'll stay up and that has to be our main objective this season to be honest we can't even think about top half yet it seems so drastic saying that. IMO if we stay up this year then we should just make a real push for it next year.

Daz.I Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 That's what we said last year Yes I know but We've gotta keep hollowayand give him a chance to build his team not try and sort out some-one elses mess. He's got a good record in the transfer window, for now lets survive
maddog Posted 12 December 2007 Author Posted 12 December 2007 OK we lost to Ipswich, we are now 11 points off the play offs with 0 games in hand. I think we can easily make that up starting with winning these next 4 games before new year. Come on Leicester
