GianEmmo Zola Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Fulop 6.5 Stearman 6 did nothing wrong Mcauley 6 Kisnorbo 6.5 Mattock 6 (Sheehan 6.5)(Wesolowski 6) Kenton 6 N'Gotty 6 Clemence 7 Humey 6.5 John 5 fodder (Hayes 6.5) Fryatt 7 worked hard again today
Kilworthfox Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Fulop - 6 At fault for the goal! If a goalie comes for the ball and does not get it, its always bad news! Stearman - 7 Effort and commitment for 3 games now! Kisnorbo - 8 Solid as a rock McAuley - 7 Solid Mattock - 6 (injured) Kenton - 6 Does not inspire in midfield, I don't think he is good enough Clemence - 8 Another good display, workmanlike performance N Gotty - 7 some good clearances relived pressure, decent game again when out of position Hume - 7 took the game to them, nice to see John - 6 (injured) Fryatt - 7 some nice shots but I wish he would put his foot through the ball sometimes Subs Sheehan - 7 must have been lacking fitness as I don't know why he was subbed Hayes - 7 good running and commitment, I'm staring to like this little guy Weso - cannot judge not on for long enough

Joe. Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Fulop 5.5- Looked good in his saves but very poor on crosses. Flapped at the last 2 or 3 and looked very unconvincing. Stearman 5.5- Not a great game I didn't think, although he did set up Clemence's goal. McAuley 7.5- Him and Kisnorbo looked solid all game and dealt with most things comfortably. Kisnorbo 7.5- See McAuley. Mattock N/a (injured). N'Gotty 6- Looked good in the tackle but didn't offer much else. Kenton 4- Very poor game today unfortunately. He was not good at all. Clemence 7- Decent game, did well for the goal. Hume 6- Didn't seem his normal self today, linked up with Fryatt well at times. Fryatt 6- Linked with Hume well at times but didn't really trouble the goalkeeper often enough. John 5- Injured and didn't play enough part in the game. Subs: Sheehan 5.5- A subbed sub. Started off well but deteriorated as the game went on. Hayes 5.5- Virtually non-existent in the game, looked lost at times. Weso N/a

dandannieldanok Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Fulop 5 (At fault for the goal and flapped at at least 3 crosses) Stearman 6.5 (Sound defensively but hoofed too much) Kisnorbo 6 McAuley 6.5 (Dealt with Iwelumo reasonably well) Mattock N/A Kenton 5.5 (Never saw much of the ball, probably a good thing) Clemence 7 (Much better than in past weeks, passing was better than most teammates could manage, well taken goal) N'Gotty 6 (Dreadful first half, decent second half, could have marked more harshly but what can we expect, he's no Claude Makelele) Hume 6.5 (Worked hard, some nice touches, unlucky not to get a better opening) John 5 (Strolled around, ineffectual again, didn't look too injured but I wasn't complaining when he was subbed off) Fryatt 7 (Only player when on the ball made me sit up and take notice, if he had Hume's pace I think he could make it in a better league) Subs: Sheehan 5.5 (Good set pieces but poor in normal play) Hayes 6.5 (Generous mark but at least he tried to get in behind, not alot worked for him but he always beavered away) Weso N/A

RowlattsFox Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Fulop -6- Was good first half catching everything but second half he could catch anything, would be a 5 if it wasnt for his good save from Varney. Stearman -7- Was solid i thought, always willing to get forward. McAuley -7- Dealt with Iwelumo well, won a lot in the air. Kisnorbo -6- Decent but not as good as McAuley. Mattock -N/A- Kenton -6- Was awful at right midfield but decent at left back. Clemence -7- Was decent, got forward more than usual. Another booking though. N'Gotty -5- Was a bit lost in midfield today, maybe 3 games in a week at centre mid is too much for the old man. Hume -6- Dont remember him doing much to be honest. Fryatt -7- Our biggest threat, but didnt see enough of the ball at his feet. John -N/A- The last we see of him i expect. Hayes -5- Proved he is not quite ready for a full game, to be fair to him though he did play on the right for most of it. Sheehan -5- A couple of good balls, but other wise poor.

davieG Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Miserable git, cheer up we are better than we were 2 weeks ago! Nothing to do with me being miserable it was just a crap game with hardly any football played, stop, start stop start etc.as for 2 weeks ago I don't see the relevance to the lack of enjoyment I got from today's game.
RowlattsFox Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Other way round imo i thought Kisnorbo marked Iwelumo out of the match You maybe right but I only seem to remeber McAuley challenging Iwelumo and Kisnorbo was up against Varney and Zheng.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 I thought Hayes was brilliant but equally frustrating.
Yaxx Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Fulop - 6 - Definitely at fault for the goal, but to be fair it's not often you see him flap or make a mistake. Hopefully he'll learn from that. Stearman - 6 - Not as good as in his last couple of games, but nevertheless still much better than of late. Kisnorbo - 7 - Had a solid game at the back McAuley - 7 - A much improved performance today. Mattock - ? - Sad to see him limp off...hope it's nothing serious Kenton - 5 - Didn't quite seem to know whether he was coming or going today. Not really surprising I guess given he's changed position so many times. Clemence - 6 - Another schizophrenic performance from the captain. Had a good game and took the goal well, but then went and spoilt everything by giving away a stupid free kick which led to the equalizer. N'Gotty - 6 - Is a bit of a lump and looks ponderous at times, but not doing too bad a job in behind the midfield. At least he doesn't hoof the ball about quite as much now. Hume - 7 - Ran his socks of again, but for all his hard work had little impact on the game. John - 4 - Is beginning to look more of a donkey every game. Fryatt - 5 - A lot of huffing and puffing but very little end product. Needs to improve rapidly in my book. Subs: Sheehan - 4 - Had an awful game. Not surprised he was subbed. Hayes - 6 - Can only improve with more games. Hopefully. Weso - ? - Not on long enough to rate Ollie - 8 - Seems to have found a good system that suits the players. Did well to change things around when things went awry early on. Deserved a win today. Officials - 0 - As shite as ever.

Do you seriously think Hume had a better game than Fryatt?????
Simi Posted 29 December 2007 Author Posted 29 December 2007 I thought Hayes was brilliant but equally frustrating. I'm thinking you're referring to him constantly been out of position leaving our wingbacks exposed?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 I'm thinking you're referring to him constantly been out of position leaving our wingbacks exposed? To be fair, some of his attacking play was decent and he showed good enough initiative in his ideas, but he needs to develop a right foot and some defensive sense, I agree.

Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of Hayes but he just seems to wander at times and we lose shape. When defending a lead, keeping your shape should be absolutely paramount.
Yaxx Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 This really bemuses me...Do you seriously think Hume had a better game than Fryatt????? Yes, in all honesty, but perhaps I was over-generous in giving Hume a 7.
WetFlannel Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 When Hayes came on, he definately added more width, but im a little concerned about his ability to beat a player in the spaces he creates for himself... I still think he could be a good sub, but i would rather have Levi over him at the current time

When defending a lead, keeping your shape should be absolutely paramount. I know what you mean. For example, if a move fails to materialise and he is in the attacking third, he often takes his time in tracking back. This is inexcusable especially against a team the calibre of Charlton, who are exceptional on the break.
