richy2704 Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 micky evans what a legend!!just of interest do you think you will make the playoffs come may?? Yes C West Brom 2 Bristol 3 Stoke 4 Watford 5 PLYMOUTH ARGYLE 6 Crystal Palace/Ipswich You have gotta have a bit of faith(and a sh** load of luck) I think you will finish mid-table between 10-15 and challenge next year, but will that be classed as good enough I am not sure that will be good enough for an obviously very ambitious chairman.

That actually looks about right bar Bristol, I don't think they will be that high come the end of the season. As for us I can't see anymore than 12th for this season.

Cheers mate thought I was going to get shot down over that one, I think in all honesty it could be completely different all it takes is to string together a few wins and you are right in the promotion fight. Any way it all depends on keeping our good players and adding some quality, a keeper to me is very important, how goes it with Fulop?
Darkzzz_ Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 yes i dont agree with the bristol high finish... we will finish top half!! thats what my heart says.... my head says bottom half!!
richy2704 Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 As long as you finish above the bottom three, build a new team get a good team spirit and then kick on next season. But it is only just January lots of football to play yet.
ibbosuk Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Firstly we are not skint and have never been in debt and are above you in the league and since promotion to the championship have NEVER finished below you.(Money didnt get us to this position)Secondly we have no requirement to sell him he is contracted to us untill 2009 so it dosesnt matter whatsoever if other CCC clubs have more money than us, only six teams are above us and lets be honest there is alot more than six who have more money than us. I beleive we would be looking at 2 mil plus but there is a new rumour that Bolton may want him back for 3.2 mil(that way we get 1.6), to be honest it does not bother me what club he goes to(Even Leicester)it just pi**es me off that the club would consider selling him to a championship rival when we do stand a genuine chance of getting a play off place. Never said you were in debt did I? I said you are SKINT as in no money to buy players unless you sell (YOU ARE A SELLING CLUB) as are all clubs who only pull 12,000 -14,000 through the gates in the championship. Thats what enabled us to nick Holloway from you (REMEMBER). You said that you would be very surprised if Norris doesnt sign a new contract with us (Plymouth), Well all fans must be aloud to dream, but the stone cold reality is Norris will almost certainly go in the Jan transfer window to whoever, as he is a wanted commodity....And I am sure you won't be "Surprised" if its to Leicester City FC.
DBEightyFive Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 Peter Taylor the guy who instead of climbing the management ladder has decided he really is useless and is now trying his hand at screwing a non league league club up instead!!sorry stevenage fans but he will ruin you!! but think yourself lucky least he wont blow 5 million on a bag of shit!! Taylor doesn't have a choice - Simon Jordan did everyone in the football league a favour by writing into his compensation package that he couldn't manage another football league club, hence why he's had to go to the conference.
Plymouth Pete Posted 2 January 2008 Posted 2 January 2008 All this transfer talk is unsettling David Norris who has been out of sorts lately. Will be glad when it is all settled one way or the other. He is currently the highest paid Argyle player, Capaldi left because he was offered (and was worth) less. Norris's game is based on boundless energy and endless running and it ain't going to last for ever. Richy glad to have another sensible Argyle fan on here.

I bet it's not upsetting Norris as much as Chairman & supporters of Plymouth, Norris wouldn't be human if he head was not being turned by the anticipation of Doubling his wages and playing in front of 25.000 fans every week here or at another bigger club. This will not go away and will fester on till he moves and you get your 1.5/2 million or what ever it turns out to be. NORRIS IS ON HIS WAY
Darkzzz_ Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 WHAT?!?!?!??! exactly!! i dont want this to happen either!!

NORRIS IS ON HIS WAY Probally, IMO Peter Halmosi is a better player than Norris his game is based on skill rather than chasing everything. Where we finish depends on when/if they go and what we do with the money. I am a little worried that Luggy is going back to third division hoofball, we shall see.

Part of him leaving was because the chairman was likely to break up the squad a bit in the january window.. The Plymouth Chairman denied this.. First Hayles, looking like Gosling and Norris too.. thats 3 and its only 3 days into the window....

If they lose as many players as it looks like they are the Plymouth fans are going to look like complete fools. Hayles, Gosling, Norris, Buzsaky...perhaps even more. That will vindicate Holloway's decision imo.

And thats what most of the plymouth fans slated IH for back when he came to us... they said it wouldnt happen and really made some nasty comments on this forum for a time slagging us off so much. Present company excluded of Course, ( PlymouthPete and another dude) oh and i dont know if he counts as a plymouth player but BBC gossip colum says: Leicester manager Ian Holloway is involved in a tug-of-war with Plymouth over a loan deal for Manchester United winger Lee Martin. (Mirror)

(Mirror) More time wasted talking about Holloway's previous club. We are getting worse and I don't think the window is going well, apart from Howard, who might, just might do something for us. Hayles is over the hill Norris will not come to us.....Fact!!........Ipswich or QPR. Fulop has gone....we can't afford him I am not a fan of Martin but he is on his way here....Sturrock didn't want him....he is against loans that he will not complete with a purchase. Lad is overrated apparently, and Ollie is looking to buy him at end of season. Not looking good IMO, unless we sort our midfield.

Im enjoying my day off thank you very much. . drinking copious amounts of coffee, soon to go out and get a subway. We can afford Fulop, we just might decide to use our funds elsewhere and from the news i have read, plymouth are trying to keep martin on loan for the rest of the season

The window isn't going well???? It's the 3rd of fooking January.

The Plymouth Chairman denied this..First Hayles, looking like Gosling and Norris too.. thats 3 and its only 3 days into the window.... Hayles 35 year old out of contract this summer, good deal to get money for him. Gosling promising 17 year old, will develop better at a big club we get paid for appearances, caps etc does not hold down a regular first team place at Argyle. It's what happens to Norris and Halmosi thats important for us, they both have longer contracts 2009/2010 if a Prem club comes in for Halmosi he will want to go. He is only here for the money. Norris not sure about but if you can play for a bigger club with more money it is only natural to want to go. QPR have of course completed the signing of Akos Buzsaky who did not really fit in with us. Peter Halmosi is by far the pick of the bunch. Hope we do not buy 5 third division players and go back to playing Hoofball. We live in interesting times.

Its been open for TWO AND A HALF DAYS and we have already signed a player who you think might do the business. How is that not going well???
Bluemoon Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Do you read the Plymouth sites and take everything said as gospel? The window isn't going well???? It's the 3rd of fooking January. I read lots of sources as you and a lot of people on here do.......is it illegal? If we get the likes of Commons, I will be happier. What I am saying is that Holloway's mind has been elsewhere and cosequently he is obviously tacking in the wind.....and making far too much noise....which is upping prices. I also think the problem with team spirit is still there and no transfer window is going to solve that. Have you really stopped to think exactly where we are and how badly we are playing?
Babylon Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 I read lots of sources as you and a lot of people on here do.......is it illegal? Of course not. nut it's naive to believe it all and repeat it as fact.
Babylon Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Have you really stopped to think exactly where we are and how badly we are playing? Yeah the same place we have been since we sacked Adams.
Bluemoon Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Of course not. nut it's naive to believe it all and repeat it as fact. I don't believe it to be fact....everything is rumour on here until it happens.......however re Des Bulpin, I heard there's a'courtin' going on with QPR..... As for the window....how can anyone say it's going well when Fulop and Norris ( two absoloute main targets ) aren't coming, unless we pay a fortune. Everyone knows threequarters of the business to do with deals is done before January......Dosen't sound like much interest in our guys, and their rather large wage packets, who are not wanted.......that's not good either....we need money in to keep Mandaric happy to pay money out...oh! ....and we lost badly to a poor QPR, our relegation rivals, on Tuesday. How can anyone say January is going well?
Manwell Pablo Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 This constant buying never selling attitude is getting silly now, if we don't sell anyone this month we'll probabley have nearly 50 players on our books. I reckon we're not attempting to build a football team any more, I think we've decided that we're so shit we're never going up through conventional methods, so instead we're going to buy an army (headed by general Howard) borrow some guns off Elvis Hammond (ankle) and march on Soho square, and demand promotion to the Premier League.
Phlashman Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Or with the amount of players and managers we have we could just setup our own league, that way Leicester will always win!
