Ric Flair Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Too small. Will get knocked off the ball. He's not done too bad in the past few seasons at this level. I think there's better out there for the money he'll cost though.
shrek1970 Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Norris bid could be hit by fan power Plymouth having already waved goodbye to three players in the transfer window, their supporters are up in arms over the potential loss of Norris. Norris is a fans' favourite at Home Park and Pilgrims manager Paul Sturrock is under no illusions the unrest it would cause if Norris was to join Sylvan Ebank-Blake, Barry Haynes and Dan Gosling in leaving the club. A further factor in any potential deal is the fact that Norris' former club Bolton Wanderers are entitled to receive half of the transfer fee. Norris has been left unsettled by the interest in signing him and is keen to move away although Ipswich have competition with West Brom now reported to be joining the clubs showing an interest. However if he does West Brom surely would be favourites as they now seem to be showing interest...........
shrek1970 Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 The Star reports that he has handed in a transfer request as he feels he's being priced out of a move. No link as I cannot access their website from work. I don't think we have room for him now anyway, unless one of them will be happy to sit on the bench... Norris Set to Ask for Move? Town target David Norris is said to be close to formally requesting a transfer from Plymouth, according to a national newspaper. The Blues are understood to be continuing discussions with the Pilgrims regarding Norris, having had a bid turned down earlier this month. The 26-year-old is claimed to be unhappy that Plymouth are pricing him out of a move to Town or any of the other interested clubs. In addition to the Blues, Leicester, Norwich and Southampton have also been linked. Town had a bid of £1 million rising to £1.5 million refused with the Pilgrims believed to be holding out for £2 million. The situation is complicated by a 50% sell-on clause due to Norris's former club Bolton if he moves on. In November, chairman Paul Stapleton stated his intention to offer the midfielder a new deal during January, but despite widespread reports of an extended contract being under discussion, Plymouth are yet to confirm that this is the case. LINK:- http://www.clubfanzine.com/ipswich_town/showNews.php?id=7637 There alot of speculation at the moment, more than usual? I would expect some news on a move very soon?
Plymouth Pete Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 Norris is currently in contract discussions, If he does go Ipswich are favourites, Southampton have offered a player (some foreign name + cash) He has had four good seasons in the championship for us and with all the interest shown by other clubs must be good! I will be very disappointed if he leaves but no good hanging on to somebody who wants to go. (Same applied to Ollie, I am not one of the bitter ones)

Jon25747 Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 Turns out my contact may be reliable! He also says that Ipswich arent willing to increase mcauley bid so looks like he will be staying
Mickey O'Neil Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 Replacement for Norris? Whatever, I don't think he's heading to the Walkers.
Plymouth Pete Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 How do you feel about selling a few of you're best players? Think it'll have a big effect on you're season? We had five key players Seip, Timar centre backs, Norris, Halmosi nidfield, SEB striker, SEB leaving was a bolt from the blue, if Norris leaves as well we have had it for this season. We could afford to lose Buzsaky (a luxury) Gosling (too young) and Hayles (too old, good for last 20 minutes) Like you with Ollie we have to wait for Sturrock to build his side he could certainly do it in the 2 lower divisions, remains to be seen what he can do at this level, he struggled at Wednesday.

davieG Posted 18 January 2008 Posted 18 January 2008 From the Merc Leicester City transfer target David Norris has made an apparent “come and get me” move by handing in a transfer request at Plymouth Argyle. The 26-year-old midfielder was one of a group of his former players about whom City boss Ian Holloway made inquiries. But Argyle's acrimonious reaction prompted Holloway to say he would leave Home Park alone for the time being. However, the Devon club's attitude softened with Barry Hayles rejoining Holloway when the transfer window opened and now Norris could follow. City are understood to have offered £1.5million initially for the Stamford-born player, and with this latest development they might get him for less. Norris is known to be a big fan of Holloway and his methods and, from the early targeting of him by the City boss, the feeling seems to be mutual. Holloway never comments on transfer targets but City are now bound to resurrect their interest following Norris' actions, and negotiations could be opened soon. In any event, the City boss is relishing the position he finds himself in right now, a manager looking to buy rather than sell, as he has had to do at all his other clubs. Holloway said: “I have had to be selling players for millions but only buying them for hundreds of thousands. “I could never have dreamed of making a signing like Steve Howard for a million pounds or so before. “We are trying to build here and other players can see that and might want to be part of it.” Holloway is hoping to make another addition today, the long-awaited arrival on loan of Isaiah Osbourne from Aston Villa. The midfielder could go straight into the side at Norwich tomorrow. Holloway said: “He breaks up all sorts of things and gets from box to box quicker than you can say boo! “He is desperate to play football and is so highly rated at Villa that they have turned down offers for him. The boy is just frustrated he has not had a real chance and he will be part of my squad, closer to getting in our team than theirs.” City, without skipper Stephen Clemence with a calf strain and the suspended Patrick Kisnorbo, are anxiously monitoring the fitness of winger Zsolt Laczko who made such a big impact in his debut in the 2-0 win over Coventry last Saturday. The Hungarian has an ankle knock and is a doubt but, on the brighter side, striker DJ Campbell, yet to play for Holloway because of pelvic trouble, is now fit enough to be in the squad. Meanwhile, Marlon King's £5m move from Watford to Fulham has seen former City loanee Collins John join the Vicarage Road outfit on a short-term deal.
CKB Posted 18 January 2008 Posted 18 January 2008 I still feel this could happen, either way Plymouth are losing another player! i don't hate Plymouth tho, but 70% of there fans are like lemon, cuz they are so bitter!

Ric Flair Posted 18 January 2008 Posted 18 January 2008 I think he'll be coming here, Holloway wants another winger and the fact Norris can play in the centre as well is a big bonus.
Lester LXXIV Posted 18 January 2008 Posted 18 January 2008 I think he'll be coming here, Holloway wants another winger and the fact Norris can play in the centre as well is a big bonus. I'd be dead chuffed if he did sign!! A real statement of intent from Milan!
teblin Posted 18 January 2008 Posted 18 January 2008 I think he'll be coming here, Holloway wants another winger and the fact Norris can play in the centre as well is a big bonus. He made the point with bori that he can play onboth wings, so that be a hint at the likes of norris.
MikeyT Posted 18 January 2008 Posted 18 January 2008 Be great if he did come here! C'mon Milan get your chequebook out!
davieG Posted 18 January 2008 Posted 18 January 2008 Source Second bid made for Norris while McAuley remains firmly in boss' sights Ipswich Town manager Jim Magilton revealed this morning that he put in a second bid for midfielder David Norris last night and will put in another offer for Leicester City's Gareth McAuley before the end of the transfer window. Town are still awaiting an answer from Plymouth in regard to Norris but Magilton admitted that he fears that fan power down in Devon may be a factor in the Pilgrims' decision making. The Home Park faithful have already seen the likes of Akos Buzsaky, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Dan Gosling leave this month and the prospect of losing Norris is causing a sense of dismay at the Championship club. Norris' father revealed this morning there have not been any talks over a new deal at Plymouth but Magilton believes manager Paul Sturrock is desperate to hold on to the former Bolton man. However, the Blues boss is determined to get his man and is optimistic a deal can be done before January 31. "We have made a second offer for David Norris and they're up in arms down in Plymouth," he said. "Fan power is playing a big part in this and I understand that. "They don't want one of their best players to leave and we're wary of that situation but we are determined to get him. "I don't think it's the player holding things up – I think it's the club. In all honesty I don't think the club want to sell but we have made a good offer again and we are hopeful we can get the deal done." With less than two weeks until the window slams shut Magilton knows he doesn't have any time to waste but insists he will know the moment he has to start working down his shopping list. "I haven't got a deadline at the moment but it's getting close to that," he admitted. "We've got other irons in the fire and I can't keep them hanging on." Despite having an offer in excess of £600,000 rejected by Leicester last week for Gareth McAuley, Magilton will go back in with another offer over the coming days. The defender is understood to be disillusioned at the Walkers Stadium at the wages he is on compared to the new arrivals there and Magilton is looking to swoop. "I probably will go back in for McAuley," he said. "We have identified three or four targets and we would love to have got them all done and dusted and out of the way. But it takes patience. "At the end of the day these teams do not want to lose good players and until they get replacements in they are not going to shift. We just have to play a waiting game to see how it goes. "I don't think we've gone the full hog just yet but if we do and we get knocked back then we move on. We've got other people waiting in the wings." Magilton also said that the club are still waiting on an answer to another bid made more than two weeks ago. It is understood the selling club are waiting to see if they can get in a replacement before contemplating letting the player go.
CKB Posted 18 January 2008 Posted 18 January 2008 Ipswich seem very keen, i'm sure we are aswell..i'd think something will happen with Norris either way by next week, if we pursue this aggressively we could get him due to the Ollie connection
sdb Posted 18 January 2008 Posted 18 January 2008 magilton not one to keep quiet about other teams players i see...
Babylon Posted 18 January 2008 Posted 18 January 2008 magilton not one to keep quiet about other teams players i see... It's bloody ridiculous that he is commenting on other teams players like this.
Phlashman Posted 18 January 2008 Posted 18 January 2008 He's going to have egg on his face if we beat them to norris and refuse them on McAuley. I don't like the sound off McAuley being unhappy about the new players wages, could more of the older squad be a bit miffed?
