Everyone is talking about Holloway being a pull for him but it's not really his discision unless we match whatever Ipswitch bid.

Doesn't matter what Ipswich bid, it only matters what Plymouth are prepared to except for him. Plymouth will now turn his sale into an auction, as it's now impossible for him to stay at plymouth.

This is going to be very interesting as we know that Norris has always been one of Ollies main targets, how much will Milan back him ?

"I've always wanted to be in a position to take someone elses best player in stead of selling mine"

Holloway Quote when he joined Leicester.

IT'S YOUR CALL MILAN

We haven't been as public with our deals as Ipswich have with their bids. just look at the Oakely transfer, we new nothing until it was about to be done. we may well have bid aswell and he could be close to signing. i suspect we wont know anything until the deal is nearly complete. we went public with the Kavanagh deal and that got us nowhere, likewise it looks like the Osbourne deal.

I think the more attacking, quality wingers the better, I hope we are not held to ransom over this guy tho and get stuck in bidding war. I wouldnt want to pay anything more than 1.5million. He is a good age though. Get it done and keep McAuley unless they bid over 1million and we already have better lined up!

magilton not one to keep quiet about other teams players i see...

I've been thinking the same thing!

Most managers always delcare that they dont like to discuss other teams players, but Magilton doesnt seem to care less!

I will be so annoyed if he goes Ipswich surely we have more money and future than them :)

Apparently he handed in a transfer request in, does that mean he wants to come here or to Ipswich?

He wants to leave Plymouth. ;)

first post.

I Watch Plymouth every home match due to a 13yr old son who is mad keen on plymouth, and a six hundred plus mile return journey to Leicester. Hence I don't get to as many matches as i used to.David Norris would be a excellent buy at 1.5 million, he is a box to box player who always gives 100%, only downside is sometimes lack's composure at the end of a surging run, that he often makes.

How do you feel about selling a few of you're best players? Think it'll have a big effect on you're season?

Think our season is over, Sturrock is rebuilding the team and it will take time to gel. As for Norris I am sick of all the fuss, hope he goes soon and we can get on with it!

According to The Blue Army website, Norris HAS handed in transfer request and a 'come and get me'

Linky link

Very poor journalism from Bill Anderson as-per-usual. He just seems to assume Norris handing in a transfer request means he definitely wants to rejoin Ollie. Fair play to him if it's true but to me that whole article is based on conjecture, no quote from Ollie on Norris or Norris himself on the matter.

Ipswich seem to be leading the race to sign him, but we have one advantage... Ollie. This could be pivotal if we were to get him, but I dont think it seems very likely.

Fingers crossed...

Would be a great signing for City, one of the Argyles most popular players since he arrived. After today though they will start to hate him as much as Ollie. ;0) :D

Also the fact he comes from Stamford could be a big advantage.

Leicester City are in a tug-of-war with Ipswich Town to land Plymouth Argyle's David Norris.

The 26-year-old midfielder, who has handed in a transfer request at Home Park, is also wanted by City's East Anglian rivals.

Ipswich boss Jim Magilton, who is also targeting the capture of City's Northern Ireland defender Gareth McAuley during the January transfer window, has been undeterred by Plymouth's rejection of his initial bid for Norris and made a second, improved offer on Thursday evening.

Magilton said: “We see David Norris and Gareth McAuley as players that can make a big different to us and these are who we are concentrating on most at the moment.”

Norris has also attracted interest from Ipswich's East Anglian rivals Norwich, as well as Leicester and Southampton.

But Magilton said: “We are determined to get him and have gone back with a very good improved offer.

“The transfer window does hijack prices and causes its own problems, but it is there and it is something that we have to deal with.”

Norris was one of a group of Ian Holloway's former players at Plymouth about whom he made inquiries soon after being appointed manager at City.

But Argyle's acrimonious reaction prompted Holloway to say he would leave Home Park alone for the time being.

However, the Devon club's attitude softened with Barry Hayles rejoining Holloway when the transfer window opened.

City are understood to have offered £1.5million initially for the Stamford-born player and, with him asking for a transfer, are now bound to resurrect their interest.

Not so sure, they have had a takeover and have a new chairman (Sheepshanks I think?) Dont know how much cash he has but he has only just started his spending spree. Milan started spending money on players in the summer and we must have wasted a lot of cash on signing on fees, agents and wages from a massive squad so how much of his budget does he have left?

As for Norris I did read that he really enjoyed playing for Ollie and would love to do so again, I appreciate this could just be media hype but this seems to be backed up with a transfer request.

Someone has suggested that Plymouth will hold onto him no matter what. That seems a bit daft to me, I would imagine the fans will now get on his back as they seem a fickle lot down there as we have found on this site, to keep a player who doesnt want to be there cant be healthy for anyone.

What I think is clear is his value is about £1.5 million but because they have to give half to Bolton they say well his value is really £2 million as we want to make sure we end up with £1 million from the sale. His value is his value, just because you have an unfavourable contract doesnt mean you can over inflate his price, you need to take it on the chin that you were just weak when you purchased him from Bolton and let them walk all over you. If they dont agree to sell him I hope he sees out the remainder of his contract and walks away on a free ... it would serve Plymouth right for being greedy.

He's been chairman since 1995, hardly new that...
