teblin Posted 22 January 2008 Posted 22 January 2008 well they are looking for strikers arent they my mate suggested swapping fryatt for norris?? Crossed my mind too, but fryatt would have to want to go too.
STUHILL Posted 22 January 2008 Posted 22 January 2008 2million for Norris?!! Hmm that is on the high side I think. It seems to me that Ipswich are much more intent on landing him, so I would assume if he goes anywhere it would be there. If he was going for under 1.5million then maybe I would be more bothered but if we lose out to 2million, then I'm not overly fussed. over priced in my view.

Norris is One of the best players in this division, Would greatly improve what we have here, so when u think about it is 2million too much to pay i dont think so!
Plymouth Pete Posted 22 January 2008 Posted 22 January 2008 If they won't even accept offers near £2 million then is he worth pursuing? We could get him cheaper in the summer He is currently under contract untill June 2009, and is being offered improved terms for a renewed contract. Will probally be offered as much money as he could get at Ipswich or Leicester. So unless a Prem team comes in feel he may stay with Plymouth, hope so anyway, has proven himself at this level.

Not always about matching other teams offers though. I'm sure he has ambitions to play in the Prem and signing for an ambitious, big club may be his route. I don't mean any disrepect as Plymouth have done great so far this season, but being a selling club and selling some of your best players, surely this is a sign of not pushing for the Prem. Whereas Ipswich and ourselves have more financial backing and maybe not this year for us, but next year, we will be real promotion contenders hopefully. I can see Norris favouring a move to be honest.

I am constantly amused by the Plymouth fans. The Leicester Mercury broke the story that Norris has handed in a transfer request, it was all over Plymouth fans forum that this was rubbish and Norris loved Plymouth and would never leave .... today the board confirmed Norris has just handed in a transfer request which they have turned down. Now you believe he is going to sign a contract extension for the same money that Ipswich of Leicester could offer. You guys really are in denile arnt you? Think it through ... How did the Leicester Mercury know that Norris had handed in a transfer request? Do you think it is possible that someone who used to work for Plymouth, who might know Norris or his agent might have got a call letting him know about the tranfer request, and the former employee told the Mercury as it would be in his interests to get this information out in the public eye so that added pressure is put on the transfer deal. Ipswich have been very noisy about their efforts to sign Norris and have used the press in a certain way, Leicester have been very quiet and have used the press to do their work in another way. What is clear is Norris does not see his future at Plymouth, hence the tranfer request!!! He is doing everything possible to leave and I think link up with Holloway again. Plymouth are trying to hang on to him as they do not want a backlash from the fans like when Holloway left. I wouldnt be suprised if he hands in another request or makes some further comments to the press and then at the end of the window signs for Leicester with your board then able to say they did everything possible to keep him but he wanted to leave and they did not want to stand in his way.
sham Posted 22 January 2008 Posted 22 January 2008 Adding to your comment blue bob... browsing 'PASHITI', i found this thread... http://pasoti.co.uk/talk/viewtopic.php?p=357799#357799 it seems they really dislike 'liecester' and are still in denile that David Norris may actually still come to us. They would rather him go to Ipswich who are actually closer to them in the league and thus may be a detriment to them. On top of that, argyle fans don't think he's worth even £1m... are we going to overpay for his services?

To be honest I've got to the point where I'd like us to get him, even if we pay over the odds and he turns out crap, just to piss those inbreds off even more.
Plymouth Pete Posted 22 January 2008 Posted 22 January 2008 Have heard that we (Argyle) kave signed Georgy Sandor, Hungarian International midfielder, sounds like a Norris replacement so he could be on his way there has been interest from Leicester, Ipswich, Norwich and Southampton so final destination might be a surprise. Personally if he goes I dont give a monkeys where, he could be your next Peter Gilbert.

dandannieldanok Posted 22 January 2008 Posted 22 January 2008 Thats a lie getting rid of another one of your top players and you dont care? It's total bollocks and he knows it mate, if we got Norris they'd bring even more of their scary green balloons and banners down to the Walkers
Plymouth Pete Posted 22 January 2008 Posted 22 January 2008 Thats a lie getting rid of another one of your top players and you dont care? As often stated if he wants to go he wants to go. No good hanging onto a player who does not want to stay. Get rid soon as possible.

Super Arj Posted 23 January 2008 Posted 23 January 2008 dont rule it out yet, i think he still might be here by the end of January
MikeyT Posted 23 January 2008 Posted 23 January 2008 dont rule it out yet, i think he still might be here by the end of January What gives you that impression? I'm just reading the Mercury now and it says Ipswich are upping their bid to 2 Million. I cant see us paying that for him. I dont think he's even worth that!

I cant see us paying that for him. I dont think he's even worth that! I think if Holloway tells Milan he really wants him and would be good, Milan will put the cash up. It says in the Mercury we are still supposedly his favoured choice, whether that makes any difference.
azza89 Posted 23 January 2008 Posted 23 January 2008 Holloway will know exactly how much he is worth though, so if we get him then i think it would be at a suitable price,
MikeyT Posted 23 January 2008 Posted 23 January 2008 You also have to remember that this is the time of the year when players go for silly money. I still dont think Norris is worth 2 Million! But i would like to see him here!
Blue Bob Posted 23 January 2008 Posted 23 January 2008 I would guess that in the end it is the players choice. Ipswich might well bid £2 Million but if Norris does not want to play for them and refuses to sign for them, then no deal can be done. If he wants to join up with Leicester and we only bid £1.5 million yet he is prepared to sign then it is down to Plymouth. Do they then want to keep a want away player?

Milan has more money then you'd think if ollie thinks Norris will be a key factor towards promotion Milan will pay up
st.ives blue Posted 23 January 2008 Posted 23 January 2008 Went to the plymouth v southampton game on saturday, norris best player on the park by a mile sign him.
