morris1234 Posted 24 January 2008 Posted 24 January 2008 Hi, and welcome.Looks like we could actually be getting him then, 2mil is alot, there is no way that is is 4 times the player Oakley is, and the Oakley deal was prove that good deals could still be done and they are not all extortionate. However I won't be displeased if we sign him for that much as it's not my money, but I'm sure with abit more scouting we could get someone just as good for less. i know its a lot but think of it this way, 2.5 million for oakley and norris! would you pay that? i would! i think oakley was a real bargain and norris well thats plymouths fault for agreing the 50% sell on clause.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 24 January 2008 Posted 24 January 2008 I'm fairly convinced that most Plymouth fans are complete morons based on the past few months. On their thread about this on PASOTI, in the midst of the idiots clamouring for the board to snap our hands off at £2million - only a couple of them have actually noted that the bid, to them, would effectively be £1million. It doesn't matter what we are prepared to pay to get him - only what they will receive. Part of me wonders whether they have lost sight almost completely of what is best for their football club and are mostly focused on what we, and Holloway, are doing instead. Another thing for a few of our fans - the transfer market does not work on a sliding scale. Bidding £2m for Norris does not mean we rate him four times higher than Oakley. It's supply and demand. Either no-one was bidding significantly more for Oakley or he had his heart set on moving to us because of the location - I suspect the latter was the key reason. Age comes into it as well. We would be getting twice as much potential career and sell-on value out of Norris than we did out of Oakley. I'm still not convinced we've actually bid for him and still don't think he will sign for us, but we'll see. The signs are starting to appear that maybe I have been wrong about that. You would imagine he'd have gone to Ipswich by now if he'd wanted to.

If we do sign him, can we please refer to him as Wayne Winston Norris, in rememberance to one of the best British TV Characters ever.

CupidStunt Posted 24 January 2008 Posted 24 January 2008 Looks like he (norris) might be going somewhere? The pilgrims have just signed 2 new players http://www.football.co.uk/News/pilgrims_se...al_258961.shtml

Come to us NORRIS!! Prem football awaits us....
Shrenchel Posted 24 January 2008 Posted 24 January 2008 SSN said we've put in the 2m bid. Definitely seems a bit much to me. We're going to acheive nothing this season, why splash our funds in the Jan transfer window when the prices are so artificially inflated?! I'd sit it out till summer,

Or are you just getting terribly confused about them stating a paper saying we would have to pay 2million.
Shrenchel Posted 24 January 2008 Posted 24 January 2008 When?Or are you just getting terribly confused about them stating a paper saying we would have to pay 2million. This morning.
Shrenchel Posted 24 January 2008 Posted 24 January 2008 Nothing on the ss website but this geezer on a plymouth forum seems to have seen the same thing as me, undefined unless they just said it in a way that made it very very unclear what they meant
Super Arj Posted 24 January 2008 Posted 24 January 2008 he likes Ollie and if we equal a 1.8 mil bid from ipswich we will definatley get him... Plymouth dont want someone ruining the teams morale because he doesnt want to play for them hes definatley goin in january.. and i still think leicester are favourites
Mark Posted 24 January 2008 Posted 24 January 2008 What a waste of money if true, they sold Buzsaky to QPR a few weeks ago for around 500k, is Norris 4 times a better player than him? If anything I'd say Buzsakys the better player. To make matters worse we'll be giving a million of the fee to help Gary Megson in keeping Bolton up. Get Penrice scouting Europe.

Agreed but whoever you get from Europe won't hit the ground running like Norris will. We have money, everyone knows it, Ipswich are wiling to offer 1.8m, if we want him we have to pay the going rate.
Staf Posted 24 January 2008 Posted 24 January 2008 I really dont want Norris for 2.5 million he surely isnt that good or premiership teams would be interested i actually rate him but not at 2.5 million
Shrenchel Posted 24 January 2008 Posted 24 January 2008 Agreed but whoever you get from Europe won't hit the ground running like Norris will. I agree but don't see why we need to wax so much extra cash to get someone that will hit the ground running. This season is a write off, doesn't really matter whether a player takes 5/10 games to find his feet.
Jon25747 Posted 24 January 2008 Posted 24 January 2008 Quote from pasoti.co.uk (plymouth forum) "Do Leicester have anyone we may want. Devries." How ambitious/stupid of plymouth fans!
teblin Posted 24 January 2008 Posted 24 January 2008 I'm not convinced we have made a bid, but what dod i know.
