davieG Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 Source Plymouth Argyle defender Paul Connolly is attracting interest from Championship clubs Charlton Athletic and Leicester City. The 24-year old right-back is out of contract in the summer but could leave Argyle during the January transfer window if the right offer materialised. Connolly has played 158 games for the Pilgrims since coming through the Argyle youth system and according to a national newspaper both Leicester and Charlton could be about to make a move for the Liverpool-born player. Former Argyle boss Ian Holloway, now at Leicester, will know all about Connolly and his wage demands and would be favourite to sign him. The sale of Connolly would leave the Home Park club without a recognised right-back in the squad following the sale of Dan Gosling to Everton last week. In other transfer news, Argyle are still being linked with a move for Dundee United keeper Grzegorz Szamotulski. A Sunday newspaper reports that Argyle boss Paul Sturrock is keen to bring the Polish shot-stopper to Home Park but Crystal Palace, Cardiff City and Ipswich Town have all expressed an interest.

So is as likely to be true as any other Newspaper led rumour.
davieG Posted 6 January 2008 Author Posted 6 January 2008 Ok then, I doubt it. I doubt all rumours until they happen but posting and discussing them is part of the forum's purpose.
dandannieldanok Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 I know Ollie sounds like a dimwit but I didn't think he was actually stupid.
Plymouth Pete Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 I know Ollie sounds like a dimwit but I didn't think he was actually stupid. As stated he will know all about Connolly and know he could not stop a pig in a passage as they say down our way.
MPH Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 my take on this: Stearman is possibly attracting villa interest going, kaebi has gone, maybury released.. we cant go below 4 RB, clearly...
The Reverend Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 As stated he will know all about Connolly and know he could not stop a pig in a passage as they say down our way. And what exactly does that mean?
ronnup Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 And what exactly does that mean? I think it's a gay thing.
Flynny Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 If this is true there's a grain of truth to the Richard Stearman thing. So it's probably not.
Plymouth Pete Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 And what exactly does that mean? All right I will explain to you big city types, Imagine you are in a passage trying to prevent a large animal from getting by. How easy would it be. The point being that Connolly is poor in defence but not bad going forward, can't see him doing you a lot of good to be honest, but if you want him you can have him, perhaps we could swap for one of your defensive full backs of which you seem to have to many!

Ah right yes, i thought that. But yes, we will have him, we'll take Connolly and a Mars bar for for our very own Richard Stearman. So, whadda ya say?

knowitall Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 Okay here is the list of players wanted by Ollie . Ben Alnwick has he is not willing to pay the price for Fulop. Graham kavanagh was meant to be in squad for Southampton but theres a hitch. Lee Martin on loan from United Bradley Johnson from Northampton with Jonathan Hayes going to Northampton on loan to sweetem the deal. A central midfield player unknown name but from abroad. Monsour Boutabout to come to Leicester this week on trail Now you can all doubt me but you wait until the end of the week

I've heard Bradley Johnson is off to Leeds. Also, why would Holloway make a big point out of big clubs, mainly Man United, not letting their youngsters out on loan if we were going to sign Martin? And his hair is mint! Not to mention his 'girls Porsche' in which he drives about in chewing on a cocktail stick.
