I was... but I'm working now. Well, when I say working I mean on here mucking about.

That IS working?

I assume you're employed by foxestalk just as I am.

The pay could be better, but I did negotiate a pass in to the mod room, can eat all the biscuits I like and Mark has shown me all the secret passages.

That's fantastic.

I could really do with a new system, as I currently don't have one at home and both myself and girlfriend need to work on coursework assignments.

I think I'll opt for a very cheap desktop though.

Still, not to take the shine off your thread - that looks like a sexy bit of kit.

Nice. And very jealous.

Very.... just amazed me how thin it was to fit in that envelope!!

It doesn't mean much to me I have a guy (In some cases a woman) for these things! :D

I just got a new PC of an ebay shop, PC Rack. For the price, I cant recommend them enough. You bid on a tower (I won it for £205 +

£35 delivery) and then you can upgrade it to what you want. Its a bit of a strange system but the upgrades are very cheap! I

upgraded the base system

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AMD-8-4Ghz-Dual-Core...9QQcmdZViewItem

by adding Vista for £75, better processer (amd x2 4800+) for 14 quid! and better graphics card for like £30. I thought the 2gb of ram

was plenty as was he hard drive (160 gb) but I bet you can upgrade with minimal cost. Altogether, with added keyboard, mouse and

speakers (extra £10) £350. I then bought a great 17" tft of ebay for £50. I couldn't find a better system for £400 :cool::D

Same!

I watched the video earlier and it really is a nice device.

No CD or DVD drive, but certainly heading the right away regarding wireless free computers.

you voluntarily added vista?

I have no problems with it. Everything works fine (including a *cough* version of FM08) and is really fast.

The Mac Superdrive can be added as an option (via USB 2.0) if desired for about 50 quid (well, $99 here in Canada). Worthwhile.

If it's backup you want a CD/DVD drive for, then you'd perhaps opt for Time Capsule instead. If it's movies you want to watch, you've bought the wrong machine anyway. :giggle:

I see what Apple are trying to do here, though...

... they're trying to overshadow Kevin Keegan's return to football management. :giggle:

Do you see yourself purchasing one?

Not too bad of an idea, stripping a notebook down to its essentials. The MacBook Air does look neat, no doubt about that. I don't see the missing CD/DVD-Rom as an issue - you still have the choice of buying an external one. However, I'm wondering what Apple does with the (personal) data gained from other PCs through Remote Disc - wouldn't that be some sort of industrial espionage?

On the negative side: it's a bit expensive (especially over here, where they've raised the RSP by a whopping 50 percent!!!)

I've toyed with the idea of bringing a new Mac to my life, but have never got around to it. It's been so long since I've had one (10 years, nearly). The interest has always been there, but I've always shied away because I've needed Windows for one reason or another... with that becoming less of an issue in the last year or so, my attention has been grabbed by the Macs to a greater degree.

I've been tempted by the regular Macbook for quite some time... the Air has only heightened my interest in the line-up.

It's almost inevitable that I'll have a Mac at some point. Further, I prefer smaller laptops - my current squeeze is a highly powerful (for it's size - 2.0GHz Centrino Duo, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 256MB video card) 12.1"-er. As I said, for Apple to roll out such a super-slim machine has once again drawn me towards the range.

I'm seriously tempted - I just can't justify the expenditure at this point in time... but given half a chance, this would almost certainly be the machine that brings me back to the world of Mac.

That's OK then. We're all overjoyed to read that.

As long as he doesn't ask you to go up them..
