QUOTE (dave the caveman @ Jan 19 2008, 01:52 PM)

This is a pain to explain because its so obvious. Some people want to let off some steam at football matches, they want to shout chant loudly and shout abuse and such. They want to be in an area with like minded people who will join them. They don't want to be doing that in the presence of young families.

Not that it matters, but i don't think there would be any problems in a courtroom. Its not illegal to ban kids from any establishment if there is good reason. END QUOTE

Maybe the club should open a section called "The Macho Man " stand where entrants can shout/swear/fight/vomit until their heart's content. It should only be open on non-match days as a game of football may distract those participating in the above activities.Extra revenue stream for the club.Happy days!

Silly, silly, silly.

Yes, there are people who want a sanitised atmosphere. Not all of them have children.

There are also people who want their kids to experience the full match day atmosphere, as much as they want to experience it themselves. Don't forget, these are the kids who will be the adults of the future who will be singing the songs that they learnt whilst they were just nippers.

Just out of interest, what is the good reason for banning kids from football matches?

yep my friends kid sings along to all the songs loud and proud sometimes on his own  why should he not be allowed to sit with us and why should I not be allowed to sit there and sing myself?

yet if I was part of the Thermos brigade and sat in silence it would be ok

I agree most people join in but that doesn't really give us a fair representation of how many people want the music. Me and my mates would much rather the music wasn't there but we join in to an extent, Leicester have just scored for ****s sake, we're not gunna stand still. When we're jumping around celebrating maybe we should ensure we don't do it 'in time to the music' just so it makes it clear we'd prefer it without?! I'm sure there are others like me who don't want CD but aren't going to not celebrate goals as some form of protest.

Spot on.

When we have just scored a goal the excitment levels are very high. I try very hard to not join in with the crap music but it's impossible you are just too happy. I hate it, and it really puts me off going to games but as you say you still join in to an extent.

Just to say, I don't agree with banning kids from anywhere in the ground at all. I believe that there should be a family section though and this should be where the Free U8's are available only. If people complain at swearing in the "home end" then I have no sympathy for them, idiots.

agree. it would be better if there wasn't any music being played after we score but like you say i still join in with chelsea dagger because i want to celebrate because we have just scored. :D

lol a very suspicous post I have to say.

Ched your totally wasting your time with the swapping the kop idea, and as PJ said theres nothing he can do about standing until the health and safety laws are changed.

Ultimatley the club will do what is in it's best interests.

"Ultimatley the club will do what is in it's best interests." - What, like Northern Rock ?

Do you know how many people are dancing to Chelsea Dagger, waving their arms up and down in time to the music? I'll give you a clue - next to every single one of them. And you know what? They are enjoying it.

I'm the odd-man out then. I fold my arms and wait until it's turned off before celebrating.

I object to being manipulated in this way.

For God's sake if we can't even celebrate in our own manner, we're in a pretty poor state!

Good luck to everyone trying to do something positive about the poor atmosphere.

Liked the idea of a "Macho Man" area, but without the puking.

Or a "Flask and Kids" area on non-match days, as they don't seem to be bothered about the football.

Perhaps the club could show a video, showing that you can both watch the match AND sing at the same time.

I got a season ticket in the middle of the 'Kop', and was promised a stand 'Full Of Noise and Atmosphere'.

Apart from my mate next to me, I appear to be surrounded by silent types with flasks.

Maybe the noise they had planned was the deafening music that drowns out any spontaneity on team arrival / goal time.

Do we have a case for ST mis-selling (like pension mis-selling) ?

I made extra trips to the ground to change my seat to try out N block, and found the atmosphere generated by the stewards was far more intimidating than anything that the family members complained about.

To move to the East or West Stands means paying more money with the current arrangements.

An unreserved block (but not at worms-eye level) but at the same price might be an idea, but you young uns with the time and energy are the ones to come up with the ideas and push them. Good luck, don't let the boring bastards grind you down!

Instead of critising our own atmosephere, why can't you critisise other teams. Take Hull for Example, Du Du Du Du Caleb Folan (coming on is Frazier Campbell) Du Du Du Du Frazier Campbell, somehow don't see them crying over it. Nothings gonna change. Peace out.

We know the feeling Ched & take the same attitude about those telling us to give up

Some said that the club would never revert back to a 2 year kit deal, but we continued to question " how are the sales" & kept repeating what a bad commercial decision it was throughout the seasons the one year kit was in place.

We started making progress once Andrew Taylor became Chairman & quickly acknowledged it was a poor decision, while our first piece of advice to MM's representative was that he would gain popularity by reversing the decision & it wasn't too long after he took over that it was confirmed.

So keep on going

Oh please. You know what it's like do you, to struggle for years and years against the two year kit cycle, get absloutley nowhere until Milan Mandaric buys the club, then he magically changes it on your say so??

Give me a break, I put it to you that your "adivce" did not make a shred of difference and MM would of reverted back to a two year kit cycle whether you had said anything or not, as he, like the board before him, don't give to flying ****s what you think.

Don't see them crying over it...eh?! I'm sure they've got just as many fans as us complaining about the atmosphere being a poor imitation of its former self.

Why can't you 'critisise' other teams?!eh? Geez we do, have you been to any matches?! You know the whole 'your support is **** shit', 'can we sing a song for you', 'we forgot that you were here', 'what the fooking hell was that' etc etc.

Don't really understand this apathetic, nothings gonna change attitude. Yes the geezers in charge of this sort of thing are on the whole c*nts but they're hardly unreachable. If all the people that were of a similar opinion took action I think we might see a change.

Surely it's fairly simple.

Don't ban kids, families or macho men, they can all go where they want BUT no free kids in the kop, no subsidies for families in the kop.

If they chose to go in the kop either to enjoy the singing or because they won't get the sun in their eyes then that's ok as long as they don't complain about standing or bad language.

Ideally I would prefer the music to be turned off 5/10 minutes before the start, I would prefer it if we were left to our own devices for celebrating a goal.

Other teams are regularly criticised for their atmosphere, for using the same generic chants as everybody else, for having pathetically over-zealous stewards and for having identikit grounds much the same as our own.

This sort of comment isn't that much different to the comment about your team in the Gen-Sport forum a few months back, which you cried so greatly about. Unlike you, I won't cry because people say there is no chance of success and things won't change. I'll continue to do what I'm doing and attempt to help out as much as I can to bring about change for everyone, even though I don't go to home games and it will not directly affect me.

I'm fairly sure, though, that if anything does ever change, you'll revel in the improvements and love every second of it.

Your kind make me laugh. A lot.
