Sappleton

Has he disappeared? No sign of him in the reserves or youth teams recently? Injured or been released? If we have got rid of him, I hope the stories about rejecting over £500,000 for him were bollocks, because that would be insane.

I've no news. The Academy lads are something of a clan, they normally move through the club together, socialise together, share digs together etc.

A biggish group of them were at Hinckley for the Reserves match on Wednesday. Apart from those playing and on the bench there was Stearman, Mattock, Weso, Magunda (I think), plus girlfriends, associates, family etc.

But no Sappleton. He didn't play in the FA Youth Cup either, nor was he on the bench and I can't remember him getting injured.

Again, it would be nice of the OS to keep us informed. I'm truly amazed at the service we get from there sometimes. They're effectively set up as the frontline information organisation at City yet don't really fulfill the role. It's more like Pravda, a selective information service feeding the fans only those bits of information THEY think will serve as good PR for their masters.

To some extent I understand that. But I don't understand failing, for instance, to properly report on Academy matches we lose or failing to tell us about players who come and go and why.

I'm talking about under 18's upwards here. I well understand the club's reluctance to put under 16's and even younger players in the spotlight for various reasons. I suppose I should have asked about Sapp when I was down there.

Another I've not seen about is Levi. Usually when players are recovering from injury they are round about on their crutches or whatnot as soon as they feel strong enough - Chambers, Magunda and Beswick being fairly recent examples.

But I've not seen Levi. Maybe I've missed him but someone I spoke to at the Youth Cup game said they'd not spoken to him since November. I just hope things are going well with his recovery but, again, it would be nice if the club kept people informed. After all both Levi and Sapp were fairly high profile players in their different ways.

Levi was at the youth cup match, he sat just infront of me.

The OS isn't very good but it does do reports of Academy games we lose. There was one from the Villa match the other week and one from the Tottenham defeat earlier in the season too.

It wasn't much of a Villa report especially considering it was a top of the table clash. But I've amended my comment nevertheless.

Relieved to hear that, I must have missed him. Was he walking unaided?

Sappleton was at the youth cup match as well sat front row. Not with Stearman and his lot though.

Sapp was at the reserve game! He was two rows in front of me.

That would've been before or after the Go-Karting.

He's hoping to back in full-training and competitive matches very soon from what he said to me, just been struggling with a little injury. He'll be back in action before you know it.
