Babylon Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 Finally, that's what I have been trying to say but its seems that Mattock has been subbed quite a lot recently including today, Norwich and QPR and wasn't even picked for the game at Southampton and so if at times Holloway feels that he needs to be taken off then replace him with a proven left-footed left-back. There wasn't one on the bench!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why have Clapham on the bench when you can have chambers who has played right back, left back and can fill for a midfielder if the worst happened.
Sniffer-Clarke Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 My 2 sons went to todays game and they rang me to tell me what the game was like, they said it was a very very poor performance and we made blackpool look really good, one guy come on the phone in [radio] after the game a said we need a least 3 quality players to do any good,i think there is lot of city fans beginning to realise what a poor team we have. How long MM will tolerate this is anyones guess but his target of prem league footy in 3 years is way off the target .

Are these the same fans who were saying what a good team we are now after the Cov and Palace games? Come on people! A win against Plymouth on saturday people will be ringing in saying how good the team is and how good Ollie is.
Babylon Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 How do know he wasn't ? Was you there ? What so jumping around like a madman without my shirt on not even watching the game (which I would have prefered to do today) means that you know more about what happened today?? Sigh. Hugo... that's my point. None of us were there, so he my have been getting caught out. He may of had a limp. We just don't know. So how can people call Ollie and have a go at him for taking Mattock off? QYJJF... I have not said I know more. I have passed no comment as I wasn't there to know for sure what i'd be commenting on. Unlike you and others who seem ready to slam the manager without knowing the facts.

Babylon Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 Great signature Mr Babylon. Best I've seen for awhile. That's exactly his point chap. Thank you and thank you.
Babylon Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 Who would you rather have though ... Billy Davies or Ollie ? I would rather of had Billy Davies any day of the week. Out of what was available and what we could get, Ollie was one of the better options. He's here now, given time I think he will get us up around the play off area. The very last thing we need is to change manager again. Stability is the main thing this club needs, more changes will just start the downward spiral gain.
Lillehamring Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 Of course it bloody would. How do you know for certain that he wasn't actually getting caught out if you weren't there??? yeah, well i'm just geting tired of this 'if you go to the game you know everything mentality' - barber was at the game he was relating things as they happened not posting them from memmory five hours and a few stellas after the event, and for his sins he is pretty good at pointing out our flaws, and he offered no suggestion as to why the change was made. it sounded like mattock went to sleep a bit for the goal, i know that from not being at the game... but you don't take a player off everytime he makes a mistake for a goal, and quite frankly depending on where you're sitting, at a small ground like blackpool in this weather being at the game doesn't seem too much of an advantage. you just get the feeling that the probøem today wasn't mattock, we had one header from clemance (?) in the first half, so why cjhange the defender. i could understand if it was to bring on sheehaan, who HAS contributed to the attack in previous matches. Chambers, from what people have said WHO WERE AT THE GAMES doesn't seem to add much to our attack, even when playing centr mid. if IH was unhappy with mattock for the goal, surely a more natural switch would be to push mattock to left mid and take hayles off??? i don't know, but you only have to look at the result and the reported performance to know that something was wrong today, we're just frustrated and searching for reasons why.

Well I'm getting sodding tired of people slaughtering managers and players without knowing the full facts.
Uncle Albert Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 Well I'm getting sodding tired of people slaughtering managers and players without knowing the full facts. I'm tired off them slagging managers and players off full stop.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 I'm tired off them slagging managers and players off full stop. Yea the fans faults of course.
Lillehamring Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 Well I'm getting sodding tired of people slaughtering managers and players without knowing the full facts. no one is slaughtering or slagging off anyone, we're just asking questions, we don't know the reasons why IH picked this team and made certain changes. i come to this forum to talk about LCFC, cause i have no one here to talk to. i'm an IH fan, i think he made a good tactical decision (shift to 433) to get us back in the game... that doesn't mean i can't air a concern about why he picked certain players.
Uncle Albert Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 Yea the fans faults of course. Well who is else is it then? All you do on here is try and argue with someone. Piss off and do it somewhere else.
Father Ted Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 Well who is else is it then? All you do on here is try and argue with someone. Piss off and do it somewhere else. So I guess you are suggesting it's the fans faults then?? Maybe the players should have a bit more passion and conviction about them when they play then we won't be so pissed off.
Daggers Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 Probably something to do with you not being there. Flogging a dead horse here Babs - these ****nuts don't seem to realise that not watching matches invalidates anything they have to say...despite the fact that their apparent all-round dumbness has already done that as well. We have the stupidest supporters in the world! Yey!
Uncle Albert Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 So I guess you are suggesting it's the fans faults then?? Maybe the players should have a bit more passion and conviction about them when they play then we won't be so pissed off. What I am saying is that why do people on here come on just to slag the players and the manager off, as soon as we lose a game they start mouthing off what good is it going to do really? Zsolt's has only played 4 games, come on please. If every professional was judged after 4 games we would hardly have any superstars playing the game. During the 3 games against Cov, Norwich and Palace everyone was singing Ollie's praises and you heard this from the fans at both home games. Now after a defeat everyone is slagging him off, whats the point really?

Yey! such a shame, i used to have so much respect for you daggers, until you started this obssessive campaign to take all the interest out of this forum. if you seriously believe there is more use reading the six hour old words of a seventeen year old after 6 pints of stella, based on his perspective of 3 feet above pitch level and 125 yards from the action, then fill your boots. no one in this thread has overtly referenced events at the game, all we have done is asked some rhetorical questions about squad selection... don't judge us all by hugo sanchez's nonsense. some of us have been to a game or two before and are capable of deciding what we say and who we listen to. If you believe that the ne plus ultra of footballing analysis and reportage is some one who happens to be at the game then you, sir, are the ****nut... personally, i take what i can from as many sources as possible, i won't claim to be able to provide first hand observation, but i WILL discuss football without having my opinion validated by some one who happened to be in the ground, no doubt caught up in the excitement of attendance to the point of outright blindness, or at least that's how i am when i'm at a match.
Jimmy Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 why are people so surprised we played crap today, we were shit against Palace and pick the exact same 11 today including the Incredible Sulk in Iain Hume (referring to his performance on Monday not today) who was totally ineffective, although he HAD played well there on previous occasions this season, that said the decision to play Hayles and Howard upfront is baffling as Blackpool are hardly the most physical of said and the pace of Hume/DJ upfront could of made the difference today. on a side note where was Wesolowski, not even on the bench today
Daggers Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 don't judge us all by hugo sanchez's nonsense. I didn't. There's a simple solution - you seem to be so offended currently so put me on block. Bam! World put to rights.
Joe. Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 Right- I've fully made my mind up now. Hume cannot play right wing. If Ollie won't play him up front then I think it's time he should have a spell on the bench and see if Bori can do any better. Also, in reply to Chambers being played out of position, he actually did much better than Mattock and was maybe one of our better players today. I don't know whether Clapham was on the bench or not, but he's probably not match fit anyway. Apart from that I saw no other "square pegs in round holes".

Did YOU go to norwich game, becuse if you did it was a different game to what i went to it was F--king awful i dont know about singing ollies name if they did i dont know what for.

UP the tower
Joe. Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 Wesolowski definitely travelled with the squad though. Ollie must have just seen him surplus to requirements then for this game...

Dames Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 English managers will no matter what always try to play players out of position. It should be stamped out and made illegal unless there is no other alternative.
