You have overspent by 50p mate lol

This will be the first time in years I`ll be single on Valentines Day. I have already declined going out with one of my female friends on the weekend of Valentines as its a total waste if I'm not getting a shag out of it. I think she was offended lol

However, I have been roped into a Valentines do in the heart of good old London town as my cousin has scored a couple of tickets at an exclusive event apparently and I will be going with him as a sad 35yo dude to try and grab some female affection. How sad lol!!

Well, he is family so I suppose its allowed. :|

Im too old for all this going out to clubs crap to be honest as I prefer a decent bar or even going to peoples houses and hanging out (not literally) as I get older but I havent seen my loser cousin for over 6 months and have agreed to relive the things we used to do in our mid 20s about a decade ago, going out and picking up women for fun.

Oh how sad it will be when all we get are the over 40s or the 30yo`s who look like the back of a bus. He`ll probably feel suicidal by next weekend lol

I'm a big fan of Gaucho but it isn't particularly cheap. And in my experience it's a bit of a bloke place to go - let's see who can eat the biggest, rarest slab of Argentinian beef.

Meal for two with wine - probably £40 a head.

Very, very tasty though (try the sweetcorn parcels, they're not on the menu but they'll do them if you ask!). The Canary Whaf one is the best I've been to although that area of London isn't exactly the most romantic!

The Oxo Tower is very nice. Took the lady to the Brasserie. Resident piano and bass player, great views, outdoor terrace, again not that cheap but I'd say more suitable for Valentines day. Whether you can get a table still I'm not sure.

Hmm apart from that there's a very swanky place off Bethnal Green Road near Liverpool Street called Les Trois Garcons. Pricey but very posh and fantastic decor (you feel like you're in some kind of Dali painting). There's some very nice places on Upper Street in Angel too including a great Turkish place called Gallipoli. Very intimate with tasty food.

I've heard good things about the Blue Elephant in Fulham. Thai place with a miniature jungle setting inside.

I'll keep thinking and let you know of any more... assuming you're after restaurants and not something a little different...

All sold out.

Dammit.

There's a few good restaurants in Wimbledon I might try those out... otherwise stuck for ideas. :S

Umm Valentines is a bit of a con, but if you are serious about getting her something nice..i dunnoo..maybe a day at a health spar or something so she can get pampered alot! lol:dunno:

Don't think a health spa is her kind of thing really. Well. Not sure. But will take her out for a meal for sure. Question is where though! Starting to look like the Chippy's on the cards at this rate!

Hmm let me think...

If you want somewhere with ridiculous decor and pricey food with something-list celebrities I hear Beach Blanket Babylon near Notting Hill is alright.

The Gordon Ramsey pub on Narrow Street in Limehouse is very nice and reasonably priced.

There's a quality Indian called Veeraswamy in Piccadilly. That's a very modern, tasty place to eat.

I'll keep thinking... have you tried Top Table?

I like a place called the Churchill, or something like that, in Notting Hill. It's a Thai restaurant tagged onto the back of a pub.

Not really romantic, but I like it.

My wife thinks Valentine's Day is a waste of time, so my usual Thursday 5-a-side won't be missed.

I'll get her a bunch of flowers next Friday when they're not twice the usual price so she can have twice as many
