JJ Whisper Posted 18 March 2010 Posted 18 March 2010 Back at 9pm on April 2nd. Small clip from the new series here. Yay!!!!!!! On a friday?????? hmmmm interesting *and just so I can brag...............I've sat in the the Quatro
Libertine Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 Two episodes in then. What's everyone thinking? Thought last night was great. Many interesting moments. e.g. Life on Mars playing during the weird close up of Shaz, the weathervane (and apparently shadow of a weathervane in Alex's flat) and the stars. The ghosty cop is quite clearly... a younger Gene. (Many blatant reasons) Also the 6-6-20 which was on Alex's desk is the number on the ghost's coat. All this Tyler business too, think it's being too heavily implied that Gene killed Sam so I doubt that's the case. Anyway, awesome start to the series. Can't wait to see how good the final episodes are after the standard of the first two.
orangecity23 Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 Really enjoying the new series so far. I'd agree with the things you've said Lib, especially The Gene = dead cop thing, especially the way the first ep ended with the shot of Gene through the blinds, with the right half of his face in shadow. also Part of me wonders if Sam faked his death, and the reason Gene doesn't want to talk about it is because him and the others are covering it up? Anyways, new soundtrack out on Monday, could be worth a gander.
Libertine Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 You've got a backslash instead of a forward slash in your spoiler tags. Edit:

rico Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 Think Ray's been class, especially with the twins, "not everythings identical"
Flynny Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 Sam stuff is intruiging but the writing for the story of yesterday's episode was tosh, how quickly they pieced stuff together whenever they needed to was ludicrous. And how easily Shaz was dealt with. And how opaquely they did the "SHES SUPPOSED TO BE A BIT SAD/PREOCCUPIED!!!!!" shots.
Fox You Forest Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 First time I've watched it last night, anyone know where I cant catch up on them all including Life on Mars? quite enjoyed it.
DB11 Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 First time I've watched it last night, anyone know where I cant catch up on them all including Life on Mars? quite enjoyed it. As it's a BBC program I'm going to take a punt and say BBC Iplayer but I haven't checked it so I may be wrong.
Fox You Forest Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 Torrents, bitch. Yeah, I want someone to search for me. I'll have a gander later.

Guest Bilo Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 Another good ep tonight, very political. A traumatised former soldier blowing up Polling Stations and political targets on Election Day. Some good lines as well. 'About as sane as a box of frogs wearing party hats.' 'I'll pour itching powder down your knickers. You'll be grateful of the clap just to stop the burning.' Another Life On Mars cutaway though to Ray this time. Presume it'll be a weekly occurrence to the end of the series with each character.
orangecity23 Posted 7 May 2010 Posted 7 May 2010 Holy fooking shit. Huge episode. Finale looks massive.
Libertine Posted 8 May 2010 Posted 8 May 2010 Two great episodes in a row. Can't wait for the last two. The ending last night pretty much confirmed what I'd suspected since the first episode. (about the dead copper) The whole Thordy thing was really bizarre though, he seemed to know a bit too much to just be some sort of crackpot nutjob. Keats is clearly some sort of figure that takes people to Hell or similar, and Gene is probably the opposite. Weird stuff anyway.

I think there's a good chance he's telling the truth, Ray and Chris talked about not telling Alex because of her reaction and when they found him they said something like, is it nice to be running with the old crew? But what was that that Keats did to Viv at the end?

But what was that that Keats did to Viv at the end? Keats was with Thordy in his cell just before Alex went to him and he started claiming he was Tyler etc. Maybe he 'implanted' his soul into him or something? I did wonder when they said that, but it may just be that he was Sam's last arrest, or because they knew he thought he was Sam? Keats and Gene looked to be fighting over Viv's soul. He did the same to the girl who died a few episodes ago. The creators have said it is important how Gene holds people when they die, clearly Keats is the same.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 21 May 2010 Posted 21 May 2010 I didnt really understand any of that! As it went on it got more and more silly, the ending wasnt a patch on LOM. Here is an article from the Guardian which helps explain things
Libertine Posted 21 May 2010 Posted 21 May 2010 Not that hard to understand. Thought it was great. Pretty much as I'd thought throughout the series really, got it bang on. Was awesome to see Nelson again.
AoWW Posted 21 May 2010 Posted 21 May 2010 Not that hard to understand. Thought it was great. Pretty much as I'd thought throughout the series really, got it bang on. Was awesome to see Nelson again. Nowt to do with you reading every spoiler going?
lavrentis Posted 21 May 2010 Posted 21 May 2010 One of the best hours of TV I have ever watched. Enjoyed that. Didn't read any spoilers before but got the jist of it, hit me when the lift was coming up with the screaming.
Libertine Posted 21 May 2010 Posted 21 May 2010 Nowt to do with you reading every spoiler going? Not as easy to get massive spoilers for Ashes as it is with 'Enders.
