skinnydipper Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 Is this an attempt to ease Ollie out of the managerial chair at the Walkers from a man whose only alternative future career path is a Big Issue franchise in Market Street Ashby? BBC Sport reports Steve McClaren as follows; "My next job will be about the person employing me as much as anything - he has to have vision and be ambitious .It's got to be a challenge. That might be abroad or in the Championship " Sounds like a " come and get me " plea to M.M Anyone know what the pies are like at Kettering Town?
skinnydipper Posted 15 February 2008 Author Posted 15 February 2008 You what? Sorry - can't do links But it's on BBC text p303.

He's not bald Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 is this what you mean ?http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/7244647.stm O Shit!
l444ry Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 I wouldn't worry too much. McClaren says he wants to work for a chairman who'll give him time. I suspect that counts Mandaric out. On the other hand, Mandaric's ability to select managers is bordering on infantile............. Oh sh**!!!
Darkzzz_ Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 I love it in the article when he said "Im not daft".... Ummmm.... Yes you are!!
Asha Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 I would take McClaren Almost won the Uefa Cup with Middlesbrough OK shit for England, but at club level has he done much wrong?

Oooops my bad, i just read it wrong!
Darkzzz_ Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 And to promote his daftness you have advertised it clearly under your avatar... Love it.....
Asha Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 I know everyone looks at England and now hates McClaren, but at Middlesbrough he was seen as the best english manager, hence being the top english manager in the FA's shortlist. OK, he bollocked it up at England, but Middlesbrough were hardly a european force before McClaren. After McClaren, they're back down fighting off relegation battles.
Head Honcho Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 I would take McClaren Almost won the Uefa Cup with Middlesbrough OK shit for England, but at club level has he done much wrong? I'd take him too but I doubt he'll be able to do much with the players we have here at present. It'll be clear the decks time again with no guarantee of it getting any better then it is now. I think we should stick with Ollie for the time being.

But once you fail at such a high profile level, you will always be tarnished!!!

Simi Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 To be honest, it seems an obvious call to Sheff U, unless they actually do want Kevin Blackwell until the end of the season. Mandaric seems to have learned from his mistakes of sacking manages in the hope that the next one will bring glory. I'm sure even he can resist the temptation on this one.
Moreton Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 I wouldnt mind him coming here. Big name and at club level he'd be alright. it would be a shame for Ollie to go but if he did get the axe then Steve would be top of my list..
WetFlannel Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 Don't read too much into it. He was useless at Middlesbrough. Gareth Southgate obtained a better league finish. Why on earth did we appoint a manager for our country who had season tickets thrown at him by his own supporters? I would rather have Robson and that is honest to god. If Holloway deserves sacking for McClaren than I certainly wont be attending too many games.
surrifox Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 did fook all except waste the chairman's fortune on crap players- but he won't be coming here- even MM isn't that crazy
Tommy G Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 He's a good proven coach, or assistant manager. Nothing else though
Simi Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 He's a good proven coach, or assistant manager.Nothing else though Yeah, he coached and improved the England players no end didn't he.
Fat Ron Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 The football played at Boro during his time was boring hoofball. The UEFA cup run ended with a 4-0 defeat, rather embarresingly McLaren was caught on camera asking his assistant what substitution to make at 3-0 down. Boro also recorded an amazing 7 (or was it 8) nil loss to Arsenal in the Premiership the same season, months later he takes the England job...Incredible. After failing to qualify or impress on the International stage (not to mention looking like a complete nob head with his brolly against Croatia) he was linked with Birmingham, they had sense and gave it a miss, Now in an interview he openly states that his next job may be in the Championship. Wow, that really is ambitious for a guy who has managed in the UEFA cup final and European Championship qualifiers. I could name 10 Managers I would rather have in charge at City, I just hope that if/should Ollie goes Milan can too!!
Tommy G Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Yeah, he coached and improved the England players no end didn't he. No I meant he was a good assistant and coach at United with Sir Alex, did a great job. When it comes to management, it all falls apart however
