Joe. Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 Yeah always looked decent to me for Man City. Still not that old either at 30
Koke Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 He's good enough to play top flight football here in England.
Head Honcho Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 He's good enough to play top flight football here in England. ..............and this assumption is based on what exactly? Sunderland and Man City have deemed him not good enough to be given a contract Trabzonspor and AK Alkmaar also seeemingly dont think he's good enough for their leagues. Good enough he may or may not be but generally teams don't let good players go.
Ric Flair Posted 19 February 2008 Posted 19 February 2008 Get the lad Blue Armying instead, we still need another winger.

Molson Canadian Posted 21 February 2008 Author Posted 21 February 2008 "Ex-Portugal international forward Joao Pinto is set to train with Toronto FC. The 36-year-old veteran of Portugal's Benfica, Boavista and SCP should arrive in Florida at the teams training camp today for a one-week trial with the Reds". I didn't even know he was still playing, I doubt he would be able to make any sort of impact.

Molson Canadian Posted 22 February 2008 Author Posted 22 February 2008 Canada have annouced there u-23 canadian mens olympic roster http://www.canadasoccer.com/eng/media/view...p?Press_ID=3047 Men's Olympic (U-23) Team Tuesday, February 19, 2008 Dasovic names provisional roster Canada's men's U-23 team announced their provisional roster today for the upcoming CONCACAF Olympic Qualification Tournament in the United States. With just three weeks to go before Canada's tournament begins in Carson, CA against Mexico, coach Nick Dasovic has identified 30 players that are eligible to participate in the eight-team tournament. "I am looking forward to getting the team together so we can finally start our preparations," says coach Dasovic of the team's road to the Summer Olympics. "The CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying tournament is a difficult one, but I feel confident in the players that we have selected to represent our country. I can't wait to get the tournament started." Dasovic has up until 10 March to announce his final 20-man roster. He is not bound to the 30-man list, so he will be able to select any available players born 1985 or later. Dasovic will also be able to make changes after 10 March for medical reasons. Canada's round-robin competition in Carson, CA features México (12 March), Haiti (14 March) and Guatemala (16 March). Should they finish amongst the top-two teams in their group, they will advance to the semi-final on 20 March in Nashville, TN (to be played against a team from the other round-robin group). The semi-final winner will advance to the 26 March final and book their ticket for the Summer Olympics in Beijing. Molson Canadian Posted 25 February 2008 Author Posted 25 February 2008 01 February 2008 Huckerby to leave, says agent MATTHEW CHAMBERS Darren Huckerby will leave Norwich City in the summer, according to his agent Phil Smith. Huckerby, who is out of contract at the end of the season, was strongly linked with a move to Major League Soccer side Toronto FC during the January transfer window earlier this week and Smith admitted he certainly could not see his client extending his five-season stint with the Canaries. He explained: "He's out of contract at the end of the season and he won't be staying at Norwich. There have been no discussions over a new contract." Smith, who is a director of First Artist Sport, one of the world's leading player representation agency groups, also today fuelled speculation linking Huckerby with a move to America to play MLS. He said: "It's an option, certainly. I know he likes the idea of the challenge." Huckerby has underlined his regard for Norwich by ruling out ever playing for another English club, which would seem to suggest a move to MLS is a real possibility for the fleet-footed wingman and that it's a case of when, not if, it will happen. Smith, who also acts on the behalf of players such as Arsenal's Alex Hleb and West Bromwich Albion's Kevin Phillips, inferred that Huckerby was perhaps looking for a new challenge: "Darren's shown a lot of respect to Norwich by saying he won't play for another English club, he's being very respectful." Any suggestion of Hucks hanging up his boots, however, was quickly dismissed by Smith. He said: “No, he's not going to be doing a Dennis Wise or anything like that.” Huckerby has not had the happiest of times recently and his relationship with new City boss Glenn Roeder has been under the spotlight. Huckerby has been dogged by injury and controversy this season. The hip problem that surfaced in the summer ruled him out of the pre-season programme and the first four Championship games. In September, after an appalling display in the 2-0 defeat at Wolves, he labeled former City manager Peter Grant's squad the weakest he had known in his time at the club. Three league games and just one point later, the manager was gone. A red card against Ipswich in Roeder's first game in charge sidelined Huckerby for three matches and although he bounced back with goals against Stoke and Plymouth, it quickly became apparent that his new manager did not regard him as indispensable when he left him out of his starting eleven for the televised match at Colchester. Roeder ruled out starting contract talks with the 31-year-old - or any other member of his squad nearing the end of his current deal - until such time as City were in a safer position in the table. "Contract talks couldn't be further from our thoughts at the moment. Everything in life is timing and it is not the right time," said Roeder. Huckerby was then left on the bench for the league games at Crystal Palace and Barnsley, and he was substituted 25 minutes from time in the FA Cup replay at Bury with City trailing 2-0. Then Huckerby was left out of the squad altogether for the match against Leicester but his absence was put down to his hip injury. Huckerby has had anti-inflammatory injections for the hip problem - which allowed him to make a cameo appearance against Southampton on Tuesday night. "Darren has been happy with the reaction he's had from the injection in the hip," said Roeder. "But there wasn't any possibility when everyone was fit tonight of changing the team that played so well against Leicester. It would have been unfair to leave anybody out. He's the same as everyone else. He has to fight for his place. There are no guaranteed shirts available in the first team at Norwich and although we've got a tiny squad now, there's no one guaranteed a place. The couple of big signings that I hope we'll announce on Thursday will create more competition for places and if I can get one or two more it's going to be even better. "There was not a chance of changing the team that played so well against Leicester, but I'm pleased to have him back." Huckerby is currently four goals short of 50 for the Canaries and nine appearances short of 200 - two landmarks he'll surely look to achieve before he leaves.
Molson Canadian Posted 25 February 2008 Author Posted 25 February 2008 Canadian Media are reporting that Darren Huckerby and Stefano Fiore will be holding talks with Toronto FC soon.
AmericanScott Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 I hope Toronto become a driving force in the MLS in a few seasons time. I'm a New York fan as i was born and raised there. Toronto's fan support is amazing!
purpleronnie Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 Seen a few Toronto matches, fans are brilliant, great selection of polish/ex pats/canadians its all good.
Molson Canadian Posted 28 February 2008 Author Posted 28 February 2008 Kiki Musampa, who was a trialist at Toronto FC's Florida training sessions, has apparently left the club over a monetary disagreement. According to sources, Mo Johnston had been in contract talks with the 30-year-old midfielder after Musampa had impressed at IMG Academies in Bradenton, Florida. Those talks apparently fell through when Musampa asked for more money than Johnston was willing to shell out. Apparently, the door has been left open for Musampa to re-join the club, but he was not at BMO Field today for TFC's morning practice.
purpleronnie Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 TFC are taking over 1000 fans to columbus, amazing support. Can you imagine if montreal get a MLS team that would be some derby, and a handful for the police. More and more MLS teams joining more and more away fans turning up its exciting times for american and canadian socce!!!!
