SOCCERROO FOX Posted 31 March 2008 Posted 31 March 2008 2000+ quiet Toronto fans. It seems like the A-league a bit where its almost Mandantory for fans to have a team scarf and wave it around to celebrate anything
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 31 March 2008 Posted 31 March 2008 As a Montreal Impact sympathiser, it was sad to hear about Steve Guppy going to Rochester. I'm so torn.
Bryn Posted 31 March 2008 Posted 31 March 2008 I like how David Beckham went up against Terry Cooke, ex Manchester Utd almost-was, and Terry Cooke shat all over him to get a goal and two assists while Beckham did nothing
purpleronnie Posted 31 March 2008 Posted 31 March 2008 Would i know any houston players purpleronnie ? What would you say the standard is ? i watch the aussie a league and am quite impressed im wondering if it similar standard ? I don't think you'll know any. The standard is just as good as the championship, some goals scored can be amazing, but there are still some comical mistakes. Definately getting better though.

Molson Canadian Posted 1 April 2008 Author Posted 1 April 2008 Duo handed Toronto trials Wingers join MLS side on trial http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_3373317,00.html Laurent Robert and Rohan Ricketts have linked up with Major League Soccer side Toronto FC on trial. Former Newcastle and Portsmouth winger Robert only joined Derby in January as one of seven new faces; as manager Paul Jewell made a last-ditch attempt to save the club from relegation. But the 32-year-old Frenchman has failed to make the expected impact, starting just three games for the Rams, with his last appearance two months ago. Jewell admitted last month that Robert was unlikely to win a long-term deal at Pride Park and Toronto have moved to offer him the chance to earn a move to MLS. Barnsley midfielder Ricketts could join Robert at Toronto after starting training with the club. The former Arsenal and Tottenham man has dropped down the pecking order at Oakwell and it appears they are willing to let Ricketts go.

Molson Canadian Posted 26 April 2008 Author Posted 26 April 2008 TFC signs Tebily - UPDATED Posted by Joe Ross on April 24, 2008 PRESS RELEASE Toronto FC announced the signing of free agent defender Olivier Tebily. As per team and league rules no details were released. “We’re adding another experienced player to the squad,” said head coach John Carver. “He’s had a good career especially at Celtic and Birmingham; he’ll definitely improve the team with his versatility as he can play either in the centre or on the right in the back.” Tebily, 32, began his career in France in Ligue 2 with Niort where he spent five seasons before joining Chateauroux (1998-99) and Sheffield United (1999) for brief stints. The Ivorian then moved from Sheffield to Scottish giants Celtic in June of 1999. A regular starting spot in the Celtic squad helped him internationally as he was named to the Ivory Coast national team and a member of the 2000 African Cup of Nations team. With Celtic he received a Scottish Premier League winners’ medal in 2001, and that same year was honoured as a nominee for African Footballer of the Year, losing out to El Hadji Diouf of Lens. In March of 2002, Tebily made the move to Birmingham City, who at that time was a member of the League Championship, for a fee of 700,000 pounds. He remained with Birmingham until the end of his contract in January of 2008, spending nearly six years with the club.

placidcasual Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 I love this 'tradition' at MLS games of pelting the corner taker with streamers, do that in england you'll be arrested, and banned.FFFFRRRREEEEDDDDOOOOOMMMMM! As I understand it the Columbus stadium people are not happy with it. However the MLS suits have told them they have to allow it. The streamer throwing went on for a couple of minutes on one corner. It was covered down there. In the end one of the Columbus player had to come over and appeal for everyone to stop.
purpleronnie Posted 28 April 2008 Posted 28 April 2008 So funny, no idea why they seem to allow it, even for the US the rules seem too lax.
placidcasual Posted 2 May 2008 Posted 2 May 2008 So funny, no idea why they seem to allow it, even for the US the rules seem too lax. Shouldn't take over a minute to take a corner.
purpleronnie Posted 3 May 2008 Posted 3 May 2008 Shouldn't take over a minute to take a corner. I saw a vid of Toronto fans throwing streamers at I think a NY player and the commentator saying I love to see that, I LOVE TO SEE THAT, in england you would be called scum and banned from the stadium, in the US and canada its praised, a different world and thats why I love it.
placidcasual Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 As we get down to the business end of the season. The Massive Columbus Crew are in the playoffs for the first time in 4 years. This is how the captain celebrates beating energy drink New York by downing a beer with the fans.
