AmericanScott Posted 8 October 2008 Posted 8 October 2008 Landon is really good. He had a spell with Bayer Leverkusen a few seasons back but was never really in the mix there. I doubt he'd ever return to European football after that. He's far too good for the MLS though.

purpleronnie Posted 16 October 2008 Posted 16 October 2008 Bad defeat for the US good result by Canada, I still would expect the US to go through, they always do.
Ozwin Posted 16 October 2008 Posted 16 October 2008 Does this topic include South American football too? If it does then I watched the Chile v Argentina match last night and thought it was brilliant. Finished 1-0 and Chile won for the first time in something like 25 years worth of trying. They gave Argentina a run for their money and should have scored more than just the 1. I hope they qualify, they looked very good.
placidcasual Posted 27 October 2008 Posted 27 October 2008 Marvellous. Knock DC United out of contention to get into the playoffs. Regular Season winners - Columbus. Playoffs start Thursday night. Kansas away? On a Saturday night? Ten hour drive? See you there.
placidcasual Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 Its 0345. 16 hours to kick off. 10 hours drive.
AmericanScott Posted 1 November 2008 Posted 1 November 2008 Its 0345.16 hours to kick off. 10 hours drive. Good luck with that drive. The Crew deserve a trophy this season. I doubt my Red Bulls will get past Houston. Come on New York! Also, check out Danny Cepero's debut goal. He's a keeper by the way. Danny Cepero

Jordan Posted 2 November 2008 Posted 2 November 2008 Was at Giants Stadium for the first leg to see your Dynamo sneak out of Joisey with a tie. First time I'd gone to see Metro/Red Bulls in a few seasons. I'm exhausted...
placidcasual Posted 4 November 2008 Posted 4 November 2008 Good luck with that drive. The Crew deserve a trophy this season. I doubt my Red Bulls will get past Houston. Come on New York! The drive was completely worth it for an equaliser 2 minutes into stoppage time. Managed to get the drive down to 9 1/2 hours including gas stops. Southern Illinois is depressing to drive through. Home leg coming up on Saturday night.
CosbehFox Posted 4 November 2008 Posted 4 November 2008 How far did the Whitecaps get in the Champions League in the end? They were top according to World Soccer. EDIT: It was Montreal and now in the Quarter-Finals. Better than any MLS team.
placidcasual Posted 9 November 2008 Posted 9 November 2008 Routine 2-0 win for Columbus last night. Scored in the 7th minute. Game was never in doubt. Chicago at home on Thursday in the Conference final.
placidcasual Posted 9 November 2008 Posted 9 November 2008 Oh and in other news one Steve Guppy is now the assistant manager at Colorado
Samilktray Posted 9 November 2008 Posted 9 November 2008 50 Cent owns a Toronto FC shirt with Rohan Ricketts on the back apparantly.
purpleronnie Posted 9 November 2008 Posted 9 November 2008 Just over 3 hours until kick off the last time I was this nearvous was when Leicester played Derby in the play off final. Knowing my luck the one time I've been here for the playoffs we'll mess it up.
Jordan Posted 9 November 2008 Posted 9 November 2008 Knowing my luck the one time I've been here for the playoffs we'll mess it up. Red Bulls take a 3-1 aggregate lead going into halftime... COME ON, METROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! 45 more minutes, hold on...
purpleronnie Posted 10 November 2008 Posted 10 November 2008 I bloody knew it, I bloody knew it. Excuse me if this makes little sense its very early over here and I'm pissed off and pissed up. What a nightmare. Fantastic atmosphere bloody terrible result. Well thats me done this season, back to england in a few wekks.
Jordan Posted 11 November 2008 Posted 11 November 2008 Don't mean to rub salt in your wounds, purpleronnie, but that was easily the best result in Metro/RBNY history. And as for placidcasual, you must have had a hell of a time for both legs... the atmosphere in C-bus for the second leg seemed electric in the chilly air.
placidcasual Posted 11 November 2008 Posted 11 November 2008 It was a tad cold there. Supposed to be colder on Thursday. About 35F at kick off..... Oh and I know we ripped it off from St Pauli but......

Columbus crew fans are pretty good, but that whole hudstreet hooligan thing is laughable. The boards I go on they still take the piss out of amercan fans and I think they always will, I dont think names like hudstreet hooligans is making anything any better, but maybe they dont care.

AmericanScott Posted 11 November 2008 Posted 11 November 2008 Those Crew fans are amazing. I'm much delighted about RBNY. Hopefully we can pull one over Salt Lake and get to the final.
