Floating Fox Posted 22 February 2008 Posted 22 February 2008 ..and then go on about 'diehards' who can drop everything to watch city, when, for most people, that isn't in any way possible. To me it seemed that you were implying that if you were any sort of a fan you'd sack off everything else to watch leicester. Maybe you weren't, but that's how it came across to me. No, I'm saying that the hardcore fans are the ones who drop some commitments to watch city. I'm not saying abandon your family, but I remember growing up & my dad still went to loads of games & he still does. We all have commitments. I agree with you that some of the people who turn up on tuesday night aways are the old who have no job etc but they're a plenty there who could easily spend there time doing better things. Are you saying that they dont have a life? Take Lisa for example, she has not missed a game for 7 years. I know she has missed many seminars and probably a fair few familiy get togethers, thats commitment, thats a diehard. In some ways you're right, but when you look at the cup games, 3 of the 4 games (I'm including both Forest games here) were midlands-based, these are always going to get more fans going due to the ease with which people can get to them, especially when they're mid-week. As Fez said, people can't always get to them due to work committments, not being able to get annual leave etc.In the league, most games considered 'big' will be midlands games, where again, the same applies to ease of attendance. People have other priorities which means a trip to, say, Hull taking out an entire day and some people can't spare 1 whole day of a weekend. I don't see how a mid-week game is easier to get to either? Apart from that I'd completly agree with you, but then we only took 600 to Wolves (Although that doesn't tell the whole story as it was on TV & close to Christmas...) No, but you did say that the only reason our attendances were so good was because of the free tickets. To me your comment about 'No-one does the freebies like us.' implied it was a bad thing to try & get as many people in the ground as possible. You say the marketing department deserves a pat on the back for attracting fans to the Walkers and yet say that because of these promotions etc we should discount our position in the attendance tables. My point about the atmosphere was that it may not improve with more people in the ground, but would it get better if there were no free tickets/promotions and therefore less people there? I agree you did praise Leicester's tickets-for-kids policy, but you crack about freebies meant I glossed over that. It is to get as many people in the ground as possible, surely thats the whole idea behind the free tickets? I don't think that the home atmosphere makes any difference if there are free tickets/Promo's on. At home it's all about the result as the home support seem to wait to be entertained. At least you have the bollocks to speak out. I like a good debate

andyh1884 Posted 22 February 2008 Posted 22 February 2008 No, I'm saying that the hardcore fans are the ones who drop some commitments to watch city. Are you saying that they dont have a life? Take Lisa for example, she has not missed a game for 7 years. I know she has missed many seminars and probably a fair few familiy get togethers, thats commitment, thats a diehard. I've already said, I've got a lot of respect for people who go to every game and that ideally I'd love to do it myself but cannot afford to give that kind of committment due to other things in my life. I'm not saying those that do go every week don't have a life, they've made the other things they have on fit in with the attendance. My original point was that there are some fans who regularly go to away games that get all holier-than-thou towards people who for one reason or another only go to the odd one. That's what was annoying me - the implication that somehow these people who only went to the 'big' games were inferior supporters to the 'loyal' supporters going to almost every away fixture without any real consideration of why they might not be going every game. I don't see how a mid-week game is easier to get to either? Apart from that I'd completly agree with you, but then we only took 600 to Wolves (Although that doesn't tell the whole story as it was on TV & close to Christmas...) My point was that a local mid-week game is easier to get to after work than one 200 miles away, having read it back I see that's not quite what I wrote.
David Guiza Posted 22 February 2008 Posted 22 February 2008 Interesting.Let's look back. Swedging Posted 22 February 2008 Posted 22 February 2008 It's yours? Well, his and the other 299 who went to Hull.
Scow Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 Well, his and the other 299 who went to Hull. Wow, I'm a true supporter then.
Daggers Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 I'm just glad there's finally an agreed definition.
Swedging Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 Wow, I'm a true supporter then. Dunno about that. It's your club though - or at least you have 1/300th of it. Use it wisely - no money-laundering or anything.
