purpleronnie Posted 21 February 2008 Posted 21 February 2008 Noticed a while ago but watching rooney interviewed yesterday it reminded me. He constantly scratches his face when interviewed, I've noticed a number of footballers do this, I remember seeing lampard interviewed a number of times and he always rubs his ear. Looking on youtube for some footage of this I noticed someone had beat me to it:- click
Darkzzz_ Posted 21 February 2008 Posted 21 February 2008 The best one is Ruud Gullit who used to always lean backwards and move side to side!! Quality!
purpleronnie Posted 21 February 2008 Author Posted 21 February 2008 nerves? Having their 100th interview only needing to be articulate for a minute...ahhhh yes no wonder they're nervous.
lildave3 Posted 21 February 2008 Posted 21 February 2008 nerves? Having their 100th interview only needing to be articulate for a minute...ahhhh yes no wonder they're nervous. Doesn't mean you're necessarily going to be comfortable in front of a camera does it?

Joe. Posted 21 February 2008 Posted 21 February 2008 Andy Johnson always says "y'know" far too many times in his interviews for Everton. Something I've noticed and it annoys me everytime
Trav Le Bleu Posted 22 February 2008 Posted 22 February 2008 defoe says 'yeh definately' at the start of every sentencewayne bridge is the thickest person alive, glen johnson close 2nd Not football I know, but I used to love former Tigers coach Pat "look" Howard's interviews on Radio Leicester. Every sentence started "look..."
Maybes Posted 22 February 2008 Posted 22 February 2008 Yeah I have noticed rooney and defoe saying/doing the same things over and again. Steven Gerrard just always seems to say eeeeeeeeeeeeeerrm (in his scouse accent)
Benjani Posted 22 February 2008 Posted 22 February 2008 It's because he had just got off the pitch, and looked quite sweaty. Im always itchy after playing football, so im not sure its nerves.

WetFlannel Posted 22 February 2008 Posted 22 February 2008 Obafemi Martins done a pretty funny interview when scoring that rocket against Spurs I think. He looked really innocent... Bless him.
AyewJoking Posted 22 February 2008 Posted 22 February 2008 Its a sub-conscious effort to divert attention from themselves believe it or not.
