Samilktray Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 Im pretty sure i read somewhere that Preston havent lost on a Tuesday night for nearly 2 years.
maddog Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 yeah, but, games in hand, notwothstanding, sheff weds are in the bottom three for a reason - they aren't picking up points, i'm sure their fans would be overjoyed with 3 or 4 points from their two games, but given the fact that they are averaging a fraction over a point a game this season, it is more likely to be two.when you're in those relegation spots it is crazy to assume you'll pick up points anywhere... i'm hoping that having cracked the away voodoo, combined with something like ok home form, the arrival of hendrie, ending two fabulous unbeaten runs, umpteen clean sheets and the apparent collapse of teams like cov and s'hampton, we must be one of the more confident teams in the bottom... hopefully this isn't undone by a sloppy performance against preston - regardless i believe there is a lot of strength of character growing in this squad... Thats a good post, but making my assumption had many reasons. Sheff Wed have a massive 5, yes 5 home games in their next 7. They play Coventry twice, Colchester and QPR in those 7 matches. They drew at Charlton, beat Cardiff, drew at Barnsley in their last 3 games. They are picking up points and not even Leicester would lose 5 home games in a row. I know one of their games in hand is against Coventry, as Cov have a game in hand too, but they play them twice, that could easily be 2 wins. They are just 1 point behind Preston, i see them getting the very very minimum of 1 point in those games in hand and if they got just 1 point they would go above Preston on goal difference. Looking at Wednesday,s fixtures, unless we keep picking up points they are going to go well above us in my opinion, Preston won at Stoke the other week and S****horpe won too. This is why i feel we are in deep deep trouble if we lose this game Tuesday, and just big trouble if we draw. If we win we should be ok, but with 2 tricky away games after, even if we win it isn't over yet. I do fear for our never in the 3rd division club membership if we lose Tuesday. The Cardiff game wouldn't mean much if we don't win Tuesday. But i can't see us getting back to back wins so based on that, i can't see us winning Tuesday.

It's another three points isn't it? Three points further away from the relegation zone. And if we do lose tomorrow night it's still not the end of the world. Puts us further into an already bad situation yes but not the end. After the Preston game there are still 10 games to go, that's 30 points still up for grabs. It's not a time to panic yet.
Stevosevic Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 Im pretty sure i read somewhere that Preston havent lost on a Tuesday night for nearly 2 years. I heard something like that, isn't it only at home? I hope...
mmarkie Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 2-0 to City. Hendrie free-kick and Howard from the edge of the box
Samilktray Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 I heard something like that, isn't it only at home? I hope... Home and away i think.
davieG Posted 3 March 2008 Author Posted 3 March 2008 Im pretty sure i read somewhere that Preston havent lost on a Tuesday night for nearly 2 years. Its 3 points towards a goal of 50 i'd of thought. Nobody expected us to get anything for Ninian, but expect a win against Preston, so if we lose against Preston having beat Cardiff, its only the same as what most would expect. Besides, if we beat Preston, we'll be in the play off hunt again wont we maddog?
Lillehamring Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 Im pretty sure i read somewhere that Preston havent lost on a Tuesday night for nearly 2 years. yeah, but we ended two very impressive unbeaten runs recently, i would suggest such a statistic is in our favour...
lildave3 Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 Home and away i think. Nope, just Deepdale. They were going on about this after they beat Stoke the other week.

Joe. Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 I think what DavieG's trying to get at is that it was indeed at home.

FilboFox Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 If we can win tomorrow and on Saturday, I still think that the team COULD push for the play-offs... I BELIEVE!!!

I said it wouldn't mean much, not it wouldn't mean anything Ive gone all pesimist recently. We are still in a tough relegation battle even if we win Tuesday. Defeats in the Bristol game and the certain defeats for me, at Southampton and West Brom could easily see us fall into the drop zone. On the other side of the scale, the crazy optimistic note, if we win all of our remaining 11 games we will make the play offs. 11 games 11 wins it's easy Edit: It's a joke about the playoffs.

cecchini Posted 4 March 2008 Posted 4 March 2008 We certainly could do with winning this game. But we always lose games like this. Whats the betting we lose 1-0 tonight and then win on saturday?
