davieG Posted 2 March 2008 Author Posted 2 March 2008 It's important to win this game as much for the psychological boost and demons it could dispel as it is for the 3 points. It would give us our first back to back wins. It will maintain and reinforce our recent home form. It will show that we can beat the teams below us. Winning this game will raise the belief and enable us to go on and win the other 3 games of teams below us. Lose it and all the massive doubts will return.
FleckneyFox Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 ohhhhhh. This is undoubtedly the most important game in our season so far, and im worried.
Legend_in_blue Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 ohhhhhh. This is undoubtedly the most important game in our season so far, and im worried. Me too. Yesterday's win was a 'bonus win' for me which means absolutely nothing unless we beat Preston Tuesday. Still four wins required to get us safe. It's on target people. But we need to win these games at home against the teams below us. I've a feeling we will. Yes, we're always crap against teams below us but that's when they come down here and defend to get a point. That mentality is pointless for those teams because they need wins as much as we do. So hopefully they'll come with an attack minded attitude - which should help us out no end. Oh and DavieG, nice avatar, made me laugh that one.
Staf Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 It is amazing what one win can do before cardiff i was dreading this game now i cant wait i really think we can win against preston im going to go for 1-0 city
STUHILL Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 I'm excited for Preston game now. The win and more importantly the performance over Cardiff has given me a real buzz.
Daggers Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 It will be the first back2back win of the season. It won't be pretty.
Guest Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 As see what you're saying but it's probably more important to finish with a bit of style and a bit of form than you'd think. End the season on a high, and it carries through to the next season. It's probably why promoted teams tend to falter in their second season after a good start in the first season. Unless the team actually is alright, of course.
Joe. Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 Just hope we don't put in a gutless performance after the one we gave at Cardiff. It's a big game for us at the moment and it would be very nice if we could grab something from this.
Lillehamring Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 If we don't win this game we are in deep deep trouble. If we lose we are in a much worser position than before todays game. Assuming Sheff Wed get points in their games in hand, we are 3 points above the drop zone and Preston will fall into 22nd spot. IF we lose Tuesday, Ollie's job will still be in danger. yeah, but, games in hand, notwothstanding, sheff weds are in the bottom three for a reason - they aren't picking up points, i'm sure their fans would be overjoyed with 3 or 4 points from their two games, but given the fact that they are averaging a fraction over a point a game this season, it is more likely to be two. when you're in those relegation spots it is crazy to assume you'll pick up points anywhere... i'm hoping that having cracked the away voodoo, combined with something like ok home form, the arrival of hendrie, ending two fabulous unbeaten runs, umpteen clean sheets and the apparent collapse of teams like cov and s'hampton, we must be one of the more confident teams in the bottom... hopefully this isn't undone by a sloppy performance against preston - regardless i believe there is a lot of strength of character growing in this squad...
C-man Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 We're good at beating Preston under pressure! Can we get Skils on loan?
Joe. Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 We're good at beating Preston under pressure! Can we get Skils on loan? Unfortunately it's only good for one usage at Deepdale.

Dr The Singh Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 As long as we don't lose, we can carry the momentum further!! A loss with be detrimental!!!
STUHILL Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 I can't really see Preston scoring against us, we are pretty solid at the back and they don't have much fire power these days. So as long as we can get our shooting boots on upfront, I think this could be a comfortable 2 or 3-0 win!!
Manwell Pablo Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 Tuesday is still important, not so much now because we have to win but because it's a great oppurtunity to secure our first back to back wins. Preston are struggling and they are woeful away. Half decent home form in recent months has left me feeling almost happy about the club for the first time since about September. If honestly think if we push on and pull more displays like Norwhich/Cardiff/Cov at home out of the bag we can finish in our highest position since being relegated (14th )

We need to win because whats the point in winning away at Cardiff and then losing to Preston. We need to start getting back to back wins and really we have a great chance.
davieG Posted 3 March 2008 Author Posted 3 March 2008 This is our best chance of the season to get back to back wins Preston have the 2nd worst away record with just to 2 win 3 draws and 12 losses. Even their last 5 away has only got them 1 draw and 4 losses. Frankly if we can't beat Preston with our resources, their away record and our current home record we deserve to relegated and docked 10 points for total incompetence and sheer bad luck
