MrsJohnMurphy Posted 4 March 2008 Posted 4 March 2008 I don't know if this has been done before, but is it possible to create a full starting 11 made up of players who never made the grade at City, but then went on to greater things? They may been duff signings, youth teamers we released or players we let go on the cheap. This thread has been inspired by watching "Spider" Kalac playing for AC Milan against Arsenal so thats the starting point. GK - Kalac LB - CB - CB - RB - LM - CM - CM - RM - CF - CF - Manager -
Lets Be having You Posted 4 March 2008 Posted 4 March 2008 The whole fooking team that played tonight
norfolkfox222 Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 We could fill each slot 5 times with players in the last 2 - 3 seasons!!!!!!!

danny. Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 Think you are missing the point of this thread, he said "then went on to greater things", not "who are crap players"
Fat Ron Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 Think you are missing the point of this thread, he said "then went on to greater things", not "who are crap players" Not so many really, If it was a list of Crap players then this site would be overloaded with posts!!!

AyewJoking Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 Think you are missing the point of this thread, he said "then went on to greater things", not "who are crap players" never made the grade at city . Think its fair to say akinbiyi made the grade, we spent £5 million for his services and he was a regular in the team He has looked a better player since leaving us but has he gone onto higher things?
MikeyT Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 Junior Lewis, Steve Howey and Jacob Laursen have to be in it surely?
AyewJoking Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 Jordan Stewart? Never fulfilled his potential at City. In the end we were glad to see him go. Since then he has played in the premiership and is still in a better team at the moment. Zagorakis? Cant remember if he commanded a first team place week in week out but he was generally regarded as a decent player. However, he left and captained Greece to glory in 2004.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 GK - Kalac LB - Mark Venus (played in the UEFA cup with Ipswich) CB - CB - RB - Peter Rodrigues (Not a washout by any means, but went on to captain Southampton to victory in the 1976 FA cup final) LM - CM - CM - RM - CF - Don Revie? (OK, so he wasn't a complete washout either, but made his name elsewhere afterwards) CF - Billy Steel (Played for City in 1939 for a few games (Hey, small matter of a war!), but 2 clubs later in 1947, he joined Derby County for a British Record Tranfer fee of £15,500 Manager - Only one that comes even close is Gordon Milne, who went on to manager Beskitas to 3 Turkish league titles (But again - didn't do a bad job here) It would seem that Leicester is more a graveyard for poor players
l444ry Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 Mark Bright was never accepted here as Gary Lineker's replacement and certainly went on to better things.
reynard Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 David Nish in the seventies didn't do too bad when he left! Obviously he was pretty good here but I would say went onto greater things afterwards.
lavrentis Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 Zagorakis? Cant remember if he commanded a first team place week in week out but he was generally regarded as a decent player. However, he left and captained Greece to glory in 2004. waay Zagorakis, what a legend .
