RowlattsFox Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 Am I looking at a different table to everybody else? Is everybody else looking at a table where we are in Colchester's position? 24th and 7 points adrift of safety. We are no nearer the relegation zone then we were this time yesterday afternoon and Sheff Wed have one less game to catch us, yes I know they have 2 games in hand but I'd rather be in our position then theirs. We have taken 3 points from our last 2 games which is what most people expected, we've not got them the way we thought we would but who cares. In fact I thought we would only get 1 point so in my mind we our better off then i thought we would be. If it had finished 0-0 last night we would be in 17th place and these threads wouldn't be here, even though we would only have 1 extra point. Don't get me wrong, I'm not naive enough to think we are safe and there is no chance we will go down, because we could but we are not already down. Sheff Utd and Southampton have just one point more than us but are there messageboards full of threads about the pro's and con's of League 1 football? somehow I doubt it.

No one really knows but there's no reason why we can't get some fun out of the prospect of it is there? This topic was not intended to be taken seriously, well not just yet anyway.
Shrenchel Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 Not reeeeeally that many silver linings. Tickets are only marginally cheaper. It's disgusting when clubs can charge £25 in the third tier but it happens. There's a few decent grounds left but to be honest a lot have built shit new stadiums or redone the stands. Not that many have terraces left really and even fewer have terraces for away fans. Just Carlisle and Yeovil maybe?!
Thracian Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 Upside: a) The humbling will do us good and perhaps enable us to re-focus on what we're trying to do as a club - like score some sodding goals. b) Many of us can cross off all sorts of grounds we might not have been to. c) New pubs. Ultra could get a part-time job as a pub guide cos he's a magician when it comes to finding good uns. d) New manager who's never learned the meaning of the word caution but will get at the opposition from the start and keep at em instead of doing daft things like containing the bloody game and trying to play out time as against Charlton. e) Yet another chance to offload some shit and replace with better. f) Shutting the mouths of the smug so and so's who keep referring to League One like some kind of kiddies football yet who will find we'll still get beaten and be everyone's idea of a worthwhile scalp. g) Fiinally, once we've adjusted, perhaps contesting the top end of the table instead of the bottom. Surely it isn't possible that we would slip into the relegation zone of Division One?
Joe. Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 It scares me to think we could be playing in this division next year. It just wouldn't surprise me to see us do a Forest and stay there for a long time. There may be personal insignificant positives to going down but lets face it, none of us want this at all.
Sniffer-Clarke Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 Trips to Brighton, Southend and Bournemouth (maybe) = Seaside funLocals with Forest and Northampton. Cant wait. Dont forget hartlepool jeff stelling will love you.

And none of us should be thinking about League One. fair enough reality is that we are odds on to be relegated and probably deserve it. BUT for out tradition and history of not being outside the top 2 Divs we shouldnt even joke about it. NEGATIVITY breeds contempt. Imagine them fcuking players thinking its already all over and the fans have accepted it. Well you fcuking muppets(The players!) we have NOT accepted it and you fcukers best get us out this shit you put us in OR ELSE! YOU WANKERS! (Think that will motivate them eh!!! )
filbertway Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 I'm excited about the prospect of new grounds and cheaper AWAY tickets, it got boring watching Leicester in the champiobnship, may as well try a new division, beats sitting 20-17th

Surely it isn't possible that we would slip into the relegation zone of Division One? I completely agree. Let's face it. Start playing football, play the opposition off the park. Get some decent football played. Doesn't matter which division, championship or league one. The championship is so poor anyway - can't get any worse. Bristol City are poor. They are top. League 1 last season. Get the ball down and pass it. I'm happy whatever the opposition. I want to be entertained. If we're sitting pretty at the top of league 1 I'll be happy because I know that when we go back up, that passing football that got us there will easily be enough to beat the rubbish in the championship too. We need a winning mentality and we'll get there by dissin' on the little teams. Sorted.
filbertway Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 Yes,we will win Division One easily wont we???? Haha, I really don't think we would win it, I know I would enjoy it more, and am confident in saying we would win more games. There would be more die hards attending games as well, in fact attendences would probably increase due to winning ways. I just want to experience some new grounds and watch Leicester doing better than bottom 5. But yeh I AM in the minority
davieG Posted 9 April 2008 Author Posted 9 April 2008 Well I disagree completely. Surprisingly. So do I even more surprisingly, I quite like the Championship with it's surprise results I'm not even that fussed about the Premier League but I really don't want to sink any lower than we already have.

PLEASE PLEASE get it out your head that relegation will result in instant footballing prowess and a winning mentality. Dont think we will bounce back straight away. Better clubs than us have struggled to get out immediately. It really would be detremental to City to be relegated. There are no real advantages even though you may think there are. Im sure if you ask Forest or Leeds fans they wont say"yeah we love it in this League"

'Mon league 1
Flexx Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 Knowing Leicester we will bring our losing mentaility to the League and end up being relegated to League 2. If we get relegated to L1 then Milan will most likely give up and sell up, we could no longer afford paying Clem 15K a week and a lot of players will want to leave to further their career. A lot of you may think this is good but we don't want too many changes. And besides, we will be playing 6 different teams next season if we stay in this division. I am bored of consistent defeat in this League, but who's to say we can't turn it around next season? To be honest, we deserve to go down with the way we have been performing since being relegated from the Prem last time. With the number of fans we have and our stadium we should be at least half way up this table. For that massive underachievement on our part, we deserve to go down.
