davieG Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 The problem is not that we didn't win today it's that we lost to Preston!
Tevez Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 Keeper was awesome for them. But it's just been typical Leicester luck today. Ah well, roll on WBA.
Milky Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 Taking DJ and Hume off for Hayles and Mattock at that point in the game, with the pace taking their pants down had to be one of the worst mangement decisions i've ever seen.
davieG Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 Ian Holloway said more performances like that will see his side safe from relegation following Saturday's 0-0 draw with Bristol City at the Walkers Stadium. The Foxes bombarded the Robins goal throughout the contest - but despite having the majority of possession they were unable to break the stalemate. The draw leaves Leicester in 21st position with nine games remaining, but Holloway confirmed that his side could take great confidence from their display against the league's top team. He said: "Bristol have lived a charmed life today. We have had 24 shots and there were some unbelievable scrambles. It looked like they were going to get one chance and it was going to go in which would have just about summed our life up at the moment. "All you can ask for is for the players to give you everything. They didn't whinge about the other night. They showed great determination and calved out some chances that we should have converted. I am sure that if we were at the top of the league then they would be going in the back of the net. "The lads have got to stay strong and keep believing. I thought their body language from the start of the game to the end was superb and you wouldn't have known who was at the top of the division. "We have got to keep going. It is horrible being where we are, but we must stick together. "I don't blame bad luck because at the end of the day we have got players who can finish. But when you are down the bottom it is a lot harder. The goalie gets bigger and the goal gets smaller. "That is another performance that we can build on. We now go to Southampton who are just above us in the table. Let's put the pressure on them and see what we can do. If we produce more performances like that then I think we will win matches." Holloway also confirmed that both Stephen Clemence and Patrick Kisnorbo were struggling to be fit for Tuesday night's game. He added: Stephen has got a thigh problem, while Paddy has got a knock on his Achilles. We shall have to wait and see how they are on Monday, but I would say that they are doubtful at the moment."
Thracian Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 Those stats could have the epitaph Entertainment Value 8. That was a cracking game with so much incident but Holloway still needs to look at himself. Although Bristol twice came closest to scoring Leicester tore them apart second half and the reason they did that was because their defenders were getting more and more ragged trying to cope with the pace and width provided by Campbell, Hume and Etuhu. I could understand Utuhu going off after his cramp, though quite why a young professional should be getting cramp at this stage of the season I don't know. But why take off Campbell and Hume? As soon as the substitutions were made City lost their impetus. Yes Howard brought a brilliant last minute save from their keeper but it was his failure to get to the perfect ball across goal by Stearman seconds after the substitutions were made that was more telling. That ball rolled almost across the goalline without any being quick enough or alert enough to get onto it. Striker Howard was yards away and Bristol must have known it was their lucky day. Generally too there was too big a gap between the front two and and the supporting midfield, particularly the last 20 minutes when there was no-one making any attempt to drive through to their box. Hendrie was excellent. Even nursing a knock he was so positive in the passes he made in comparison with the passes-to-the-side-show favoured by Clemence. But both he and Oakley were spent by the end and how we needed Kingy forward momentum near the end. Far better to have replaced Oakley and Howard with King and Fryatt than what Holloway did because we'd have maintained and even increased our momentum. Generally though some decent performances today. Stearman ran himself into the ground, which takes some doing with his stamina and that's the second match he's provided what should have been a decisive final ball. Hendrie I've mentioned, Etuhu took people on and delivered crosses that should have been more varied but even so should have produced something and Hume/DJ were a constant menace to the visiting defence although Hume will wonder how he could possible have missedds his first half chance. Fact is though, that was our seventh game in the last 12 that we've failed to score and that simple fact is leaving us ever more precariously placed.
pricey_lcfc4ever Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 its alright playing well and dominating but wen ur down the bottom all that counts is 3 points, it doesnt matter about the performance. i dont no why he brought our 2 quickest players off for mattock and hayles, wen is he gonna see that hayles is crap!! DJ was havin a gd game so why bring him off!!! any1 see the fan have ago at halloway? was quite funny actually!!
Guest Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 I've gotta say i'm pleased with that. Really don't know how we haven't scored at least one, it just wasn't our day at all in front of goal. But still, a point (4 overall) against top of the league is pretty good. I agree with that. Were were desperately unlucky today not to come away with 3 points. If we play like that for every game for the rest of the season I think we'll be fine. Hard to pick who my man of the match was but I'd have to say either Oakley or DJ probably. Thought Clapham was good again today though too. There was still plenty of moaning going on around me today and I find it hard to believe thy were watching the same game as me.
colbo68 Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 I cant believe the crap I'm reading!!!! playing well and the goals will come!!! that is exactly the problem and has been all season - the goals havnt come! and it could now end in relegation - not being able to take one of at least 6/7 chances is simply not good enough at any level - the 'keep the faith' brigade are a dangerous bunch - relegation is now a very real possibility - the big un will be Scunny at home which is now a six pointer
Maybes Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 I am very worried after looking at the table. Wednesday are 2 point behind us with 2 games in hand Weve got 9 cup finals now.
Webbo Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 I was reasonably happy coming home until I heard the teams below us had won. It spoiled my mood I must admit.
Staf Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 Gutted we didnt win today although we were unlucky the amount of chances we had we should of at least converted one fairplay to Ollie for remaining positive but i am really starting to worry 2 points of the relegation zone and shef wed have two games in hand i am very worried
lildave3 Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 Also, the Kop was actually enjoyable in the second half. People standing, actualyl getting behind the team and generally positive.
The Reverend Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 If we continue to miss chances in that quantity, we will go down. Thats a fact. Theres no more Holloway can do. Its the players now, they've done what hes asked, but the strikers havent put the chances away. This is a big result. In a bad way. What will missing that many chances do to the players already shattered confidence?
C-man Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 But why take off Campbell and Hume? Because du du du du Matty Fryatt.

ASH17LCFC Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 Think Ollie will last 2 more games, after taking off DJ and Hume. A good few fans chanted ... YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING. We needed to win today but we don't have a striker who can put the ball in the net and that will lead to league 1 football next season.
C-man Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 I was pleased with the way we played, the way we got behind the team in the 2nd half, and the way the woodwork came to our rescue. I wasn't pleased with Hume, the Leicester fans bumming of Matty Fryatt, and the lack of Andy's glasses.
FleckneyFox Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 I was reasonably happy coming home until I heard the teams below us had won. It spoiled my mood I must admit. Exactly the same. i still think wins against Sheff Wed, Scunny & Colchester will see us safe. We are 2 points clear of a team with 2 games in hand but then you look at it from another angle and we are 3 points from 16th. We should have won today but i think a draw vs. the league leaders is still decent and maybe a point we werent expected to get.
C-man Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 Think Ollie will last 2 more games, after taking off DJ and Hume. A good few fans chanted ... YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING. That's laughable after most Leicester fans begged for Fryatt (and Baz ) to be brought on.
DB11 Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 Really. To what? It feels like a loss or I'd have took a draw?
ASH17LCFC Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 That's laughable after most Leicester fans begged for Fryatt (and Baz ) to be brought on. Not really Hayles and Mattock though, i think if we lose our next 2 games he will have to leave.
lildave3 Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 Hume clearly wasn't playing well, and DJ seemed to be pretty knackered. The only thing I would have done differently was to take Hume off earlier, and bring King on for him not Mattock.
Lovejoy Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 Hume was balls today. Fryatt came on and didn't score . Unthinkable yes, but everyone has an offday .
Jimmy Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 Hume clearly wasn't playing well, and DJ seemed to be pretty knackered. The only thing I would have done differently was to take Hume off earlier, and bring King on for him not Mattock. so you'd of gone 4-3-3 then?
lildave3 Posted 8 March 2008 Posted 8 March 2008 so you'd of gone 4-3-3 then? What? Where did you get this from?
