coale39 Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Yeh very funny. I was not looking forward to it walking in tho, girl said it was like bridget jones! Made me miserable for the first 10 min!
General Smuts Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Simply amazing film.It soars. This is about the tenth thread youve started this month about films Shows we need a film section of the forum tbh. I agree though. Best film of the year and one to be seen over and over. Will be getting it on dvd when it comes out fo shizzle. Ellen Page is immense in it as are the Arrested Development fellas and J Jonah too. Even Jennifer Garner puts in a solid. Loved it. Quality soundtrack aswell brought back my love for The Moldy Peaches.
Finnegan Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Kimya Dawson. I was very cynical about this film, mostly because everyone was raving it as this year's Little Miss Sunshine. And I was very cynical about Little Miss Sunshine out of sheer, total antisnobbery. Working in a video store you do tend to judge films by the clientèle that rent them and I just got vastly exasperated with the Crouch End artfarts loving LMS to hell. But then I actually sat and WATCHED LMS the other day and loved it, so, maybe I will watch Juno. If only for Kimya Dawson / the Moldy Peaches.

I too am an utter film snob with the 'Indie' flicks, ive still yet to watch 'Art School Confidential' just because it has the words 'Art School' in them which to me makes it overtly pretentious. I dicked about for ages before peeping 'Brick' as well cos it was hyped so much and i loved the shit outta that movie. But definately definately go see it. Or at least stream it from the comfort of your bed
Phube Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 This seems to be the 3rd in the indie 'Must see film, but explain it to people and it sounds crap' trilogy: Sideways Little Miss Sunshine Juno Must watch when it comes on DVD!

Didn't enjoy Sideways to be fair Phubey - but I reckoned LMS rocked, the dialog was marvelous.

lcfc_jme Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Is this worth paying £7.50 to watch in the cinema or would I be better advised going down the off-license to buy 12 cans of beer for an evening's rehab and Spanish football?

If you liked Little Miss Sunshine - yes. If you want to impress a girl with your sensitive side - yes. If you think that cinema audiences really don't do enough to contribute the to atmosphere of the film, and that the screen and seats should be at the opposite ends, then probably not. Right, I'm off to do some more swanning around. I may preen too, I do love a good preen.

You be better advised to give me that £7.50. I could make you "loadsamoney" betting on football matches. Honest.
AoWW Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Is this worth paying £7.50 to watch in the cinema or would I be better advised going down the off-license to buy 12 cans of beer for an evening's rehab and Spanish football? Beer.
General Smuts Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Beer. And then watch it shitfaced on here. Case Closed.

Of course - downloading it and watching it on your laptop/TV hook-up would allow you to do both
James. Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 Watched it last night and I have to say it was totally and utterly engrossing. Really isn't the sort of film I would find myself watching but I trusted the judgement of Daggers and gave it a go. I don't even really know WHY I liked it, I'm sure some film type person could explain to me better than I could myself. I just found the acting, the characterisation, the subtle undertones, the humour all spot on and I was actually quite moved at the end. It made me feel like a girl. In a good way.

If you haven't yet... Watch Little Miss Sunshine it has the same effect!
Zingari Posted 11 March 2008 Posted 11 March 2008 not as good as "juno and the paycock" and anyway , they've done very similar plots to this already in emmerdale and corrie
Daggers Posted 11 March 2008 Author Posted 11 March 2008 ...but I trusted the judgement of Daggers ****! You idiot....but thanks for the compliment It goes to show how emotional, feel-good films can be made that aren't superficial, insubstantial or reliant of the over-use of emotive drama. The "chick-flick" genre has to rank as my least favourite simply because it consists of brainless, unchallenging films - it's lazy film making without the payoff of an exploding car or alien attack. Juno engages the viewer with warmth and humour, and you embrace the love between the characters...and not one Hugh Grantalike twat in sight, no Hello! magazine vapidity.
Webbo Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 I downloaded this at the weekend and I tried to play it tonight but the picture sticks in the opening sequence while the soundtrack carries on. I've tried playing it with media player and realplayer but they're both exactly the same. Any ideas how to fix it?
