Coventry and Sheff Wed, but who still both have games in hand.

One of their games in hand is them playing each other... which does us a favour!!!

Results went our way today. Its in our hands now as we have to still play the bottom 3 at home. If we don't get 7 points from those 3 games we'll deserve to go down despite our form vs top clubs. This is a poor league, I fear all 3 promoted teams will drop back down - Bristol City same goal differance as us and 2nd!!!

Just take a moment to think about that... imagine if we'd had a bit of stability at the club and our midfield and strikers had found the kind of form our back four have enjoyed, massive if of course and we'd have need a manager from the start of the season who recognised we needed a midfield but still gives you cause for thought...

That could make the game against sheff wed crucial.

Definitely NOT the way to go with only 8 games left!! 7 after we've lost to WBA on saturday. :nono:

Never been happier to be so wrong!! :giggle:

Well looking at the table just makes you

I think any of 7 teams can still go down, Preston are out of it, Blackpool and Norwich almost safe.

S****horpe and Colchester are both gone.

The fact is, we need to win both our home games, and draw those away games.

Assuming we lose to Stoke though, we may need to win the other 3 games to survive.

Its De Ja Vu, last season Barnsley away was a really important match in the relegation battle, and with them in the relegation zone now, that looks to be the key match. Winning our 2 home games and losing the other 2 won't me enough i rekon.

Posted

The home games will be all important but winning and losing is better than two draws like some of our rivals are doing at the moment.

Im still optimistic.

I still can't get over the fact how important the games against Sheff Weds at home and Barnsley away are. Aswell as the Colchester game. I reckon if we win 2 out of 3 of those and we will be safe.

It looks even bleaker now.

17 Blackpool 42 7 10 4 32 25 4 7 10 23 31 -1 50

21 Sheff Wed 42 8 4 9 24 23 4 8 9 21 27 -5 48

24 Colchester 42 4 8 9 30 35 3 7 11 27 41 -19 36

Barnsley win 3-0 at Watford, based on that result they surely won't go down and should in theory beat us at their place.

If we lose Saturday we will be relegated, unless we get amazing results go for us in other matches. Or ourselves beat Stoke.

Posted

Sheffield Wednesday is the key game.

We need to beat colchester so we get 2 points ahead of them then we need Plymouth to do us a favour on Monday and beat Wednesday or Draw. Then Wednesday have a tough clash with Blackpool away from home. We have Barnsley away. But the fixture IMO which will decide who will go down will be our tie with Wednesday.

A look at the table also shows you our lack of goal scoring ability.

Sheff Utd. - P 36 Goals 38

City - P 38 Goals 34

Scunny - P 37 Goals 51

Colchester - P 37 Goals 49

It's no good playing well and having most of the possesion if you can't score.

I wonder if the manager's noticed. Or if any of our manager's ever noticed these last four years. They certainly ignored enough warnings on here this season, not to mention those before.

EG (since last July):

a) Get Gradel involved.

b) Replace Fryatt.

c) Get some pace in the team.

d) Attack in greater numbers.

e) Get goalscorers in midfield.

f) Keep our dead ball kick specialist.

g) Get midfielders into the penalty box and someone to attack the six yard box.

h) Get someone to attack the near post consistently.

i) Use a specialist scoring/creating left winger like Beswick.

j) Get people who take players on and so unsettle organised defences.

That's 10 things and doesn't deal with things like width and movement.

But if those 10 things represent 100% we've maybe dealt with 10% all told. And that reflects the extent to which we've failed as an attacking force this season.

Says you. Maybe ex-professional footballers with coaching qualifications think differently.

I'm sure every body on here could pick a better team than Ollie, problem is that team never plays so we'll never know.

We are back in the relegation zone. I would say we are better off than before the Colchester game, gaining 1 point on Cov and Blackpool could be vital. Barnsley play their game in hand tomorrow at home to Hull, win that and they are safe before they play us, which will be good for us as they will relax and won't try as hard if they know they are almost certainly safe.
