Kilworthfox Posted 19 March 2008 Posted 19 March 2008 Being the ever optimist that I am, I believe that we will stop up this season, and I am thinking of next year in the Barclays Division 2. If you can't be arsed to read below I think we will finish top 10 next year I believe that with a preseason and a few more new faces including Hendrie and a Keeper (poss Fulop, Crossing fingers) that Leicester City have a very good side (at least on paper) to be an outside bet for challenging for promotion 2008/2009. This season has been a let down in terms of results, managers, and general upheaval at LCFC, however a season like this was essential to remove the dross (of Hughes, Maybury, DeVries, Flab, Elvis, Cort, Henderson, to name a few which needs continuing IMO). I understand that we all would have liked to create a new side without the existing worries of relegation but as I said I am optimistic as always. There are still the promotions and demotions to be dealt with so supposition will have to keep me on track with my optimism for next year. Now you can call me a Frenchman if I am wrong but I think Derby will go down . Also followed by possibly Brum, Fulham, Newcastle, Sunderland, Bolton. However it really does not matter which other 2 sides as they will be strong if they come down so top 10or better I assume for all 3. From Div 2 I think it does matter who goes up, as it will have more influence of an on next season than the demoted Div 1 sides. Teams such as Bristol City are having a great season as are Stoke Hull and Plymouth however next year I expect at least 3/4 to be mid table or less as they are overachieving this year and I just don't see them having the quality to challenge again. New Keeper Good young Defence only going to get better with experience (Not N'Gotty) Midfield has now got creative quality in Hendrie if we had a good left winger we would create much more and better chances Up front possibly a striker with a preditory instinct, but Howard is good in this Div, and we have enough depth now, Yes we should be scoring more but there is not that much wrong on paper, maybe they need more time to get used to eachothers play. So in conclusion it can't be any worse than this year has been to date for next season. I don't remember the last time a side with the best defence in the leauge was ever relegated or at worst threatened with relegation!
Kilworthfox Posted 19 March 2008 Author Posted 19 March 2008 And the left winger could be Levi?? Strauss?
Cal Posted 19 March 2008 Posted 19 March 2008 I 100% agree that we are a good team on paper, but its just getting them to perform half decently week in week out.
Koke Posted 19 March 2008 Posted 19 March 2008 A new keeper. A good young defender. 2 wingers + Gradel, just to add competetion on the wings. Possibly a new striker, too, but then we'd have to ship off one of our exisisting ones. I'm thinking Fryatt here. In the middle we have Oakley, Clemence, Weso and King. Not much creativity looking at that so Ollie might want another midfielder, Hendrie type of. We not a bad team right now, and had we had this team back in pre season then our season would certainly not have go One this direction I believe.

I have been a Fryatt fan for time it seems but his lack of goals & fitness is becoming too much for a club with expectations like ours. He if given another chance has to reproduce the form that RK got him and Hume on when he took over. Hendrie is a class apart in this leauge and hopefully he does want to be here and we can accommodate his wages again next year.
DB11 Posted 19 March 2008 Posted 19 March 2008 Close season will just be full of optimism etc. but we will fail miserably again. I'm going for a finish of 17th

Simi Posted 19 March 2008 Posted 19 March 2008 I was quite optimistic about this season in the summer. I have well and truly been taught a lesson since then, I only predicted a top half finish! As for next season, I want to see some stability and a team that we can send out to every match knowing that we have it in us to compete with the opposition, both home and away. Providing we're in this division of course.
Kilworthfox Posted 19 March 2008 Author Posted 19 March 2008 I think you read my post wrong ha fantastishe Play Sappleton and we'll be Premier League. No that's Mark Selby
purpleronnie Posted 19 March 2008 Posted 19 March 2008 I have to say this is the first time ina long time I think we have a good team, if we keep our players I think top 10 is definately posible. I predicted 17th this season.
Floating Fox Posted 19 March 2008 Posted 19 March 2008 Thomas get your jacket. Your having a 'mare in here, so to speak.

dog_4 Posted 19 March 2008 Posted 19 March 2008 Holloway said on the radio the other day, he's still not happy with the left hand side and feels its lacking balance. Fingers crossed we get etuhu, sign hendrie on a permanent and get scott sinclaire on loan for the left. Meaning a midfield of etuhu on the left, hendrie and oakley in the middle with sinclaire on the left. That would be quality. I'm not too bothered about the defence has we already have kisnorbo, macualey, n'gotty and then a young pair of legs in whorley. I'd just like to see us sign a quality goalkeeper ie fulop for 2m say or maybe brad friedal if rumours have anything to go buy. Last but not least i'd like to see us sell clemence and resurect a loan deal for isiah osbourne.
Daggers Posted 19 March 2008 Posted 19 March 2008 I'm not posting shit about our chances next season until I've seen who comes in and who leaves during summer.
